  1. Hey guys. Super excited for the new book. Started AOS a year ago and wanted to start fyreslayers but guys in my meta convinced me not to since they were below the power curve.

I am happy to say I just traded off my skaven to come home to the forge!!!

  2. So double battalions is tricky. If I was headed down that route I would prob combine up the horrors and take royal family as the 2nd.

That way you get an additional extra attack spell, and the 2 GKs on foot can dump 2x10 ghouls on to the field to be chaff or grab objectives.

    -1AA -200

    - battalion -110

    - 1 unit of horrors -160

    + 2 AGK +280

    + 1 Royal family +120

Net is 70 points to play with, just some thoughts

Im not worried about that. Stormfiends were abused quite heavily and you only ever had one body per special weapon. So you had to duplicate or triple the same body if you want to use the same weapon multiple times per squad or resort to conversions (both things GW likes to avoid).

Thats not the case for the arkanauts. Our special weapons can be put on nearly every body without any conversions. In addition, our weapons were never as broken as an all warpfire Stormfiend unit. People still use volley guns, only the sky pikes are a bit lackluster, but thats not specific to the Arkanauts.

Ah good to know I am getting the models 2nd hand so i was concerned I was going to be having to hunt for bits lol

  4. So tried making the most annoying thing I think to deal with. Just waves and waves of ghouls

    Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts
    - Grand Court: Morgaunt
    Mortal Realm: Hysh

    Leaders
    Abhorrant Archregent (200)
    - General
    - Trait: Savage Chivalry
    - Artefact: Aetherquartz Brooch
    - Lore of Madness: Blood Feast
    Abhorrant Archregent (200)
    - Artefact: The Dermal Robe
    - Lore of Madness: Miasmal Shroud
    Abhorrant Ghoul King (140)
    - Artefact: Decrepit Coronet
    - Lore of Madness: Bonestorm
    Abhorrant Ghoul King (140)
    - Lore of Madness: Spectral Host
    Crypt Ghast Courtier (60)
    Crypt Ghast Courtier (60)

    Battleline
    40 x Crypt Ghouls (360)
    30 x Crypt Ghouls (300)
    20 x Crypt Ghouls (200)

    Battalions
    Royal Family (120)
    Ghoul Patrol (180)

    Endless Spells
    Chalice of Ushoran (40)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 2
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 128

  5. So let's say we get 5 flayers and the champion into combat and have 2 extra attacks on them.

That's 37 attacks. That means 6 mortals off the bat. 19 go to wounds, and then 12 wounds. That's pretty good especially since you can do it twice.

Some room in there for a Battalion, Endless Spells or just the CPs.

You could save a battleline spot by making the courtier be the general. It all comes down to artefacts.

  7. So I recently played a dead watch list into a seraphon list, here are somr take a ways

3 knights dont Do much. Had 2 units of 3 flayers and they did almost nothing.

The chalice healing up dragons is amazing.

The courtiers bringing back full elites is great too, but for that to happen we need units of 6 or more to take the hits.

Makes me with we had a battalion with just flayers and ghouls.

If youre not running a court then you can take the feast day delusion. This means you dont have to stockpile your CPs as much.

I made a little change in the direction.

Here I made a Hollowmourne list without the Flayers (perhaps buying another start collecting). Perhaps I will add some Flayers later to summon them.

What do you guys think about this.

    Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts
    - Grand Court: Hollowmourne
Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Zombie Dragon (440)
    - General
    - Trait: Grave Robber
    - Artefact: Corpsefane Gauntlet
    - Mount Trait: Horribly Resilient
    Abhorrant Archregent (200)
    Crypt Haunter Courtier (120)
    - Artefact: The Flayed Pennant
    Crypt Ghast Courtier (60)
    40 x Crypt Ghouls (360)
    6 x Crypt Horrors (320)
    6 x Crypt Horrors (320)
    Abattoir (120)
    Chalice of Ushoran (40)

    Total: 1980 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 121

I will try to build a Varghulf Courtier as well.

I gave the Zombie Dragon the Corpsefane Gauntlet, because I think its the model that will most likely get into combat. Should the Ghoul King be the general or (lorewise) the Archregent who has also more attacks to profit from the Grave Robber Trait, when being in combat?

I ran this exact list but in the mournghul grand court. It was okay. Big take away was abbatoir is not good. I am going to try the other horror battalion next

I'll preface this by saying I'm a narrative player really, and have never built super (or even close to!) optimised lists.

The Wolf Rats I love largely due to their speed. I use them to flank quickly and tie up artillery and shooting units, or kill a lonely wizard if possible. The immunity to battleshock is a god send for taking that return damage when out on their own.

As for the giant rats (@Baron Wastelands) i tried the large units of giant rats when i first started the army, and even with all their buffs found them underwhelming. The footprint of the unit was huge as well and I found they could get in the way of my heavier hitting units.

But with the units of 10 I find they're perfect for screening my Rat Ogors from charges, I can spread them out a lot more to prevent deepstrike shenanigans, and leave them on various objectives.

The only time they get in combat is charging in with the Rat Ogors, at the opposite end of a unit, to restrict units pilling in and hurting the Ogors.

    Hope that makes sense!

So thus is just theory crafting the moment for me but I really want to take a unit of 6 stormfiends in there and build them with the ranged options. Just whittling things down as it appraoches since HPA should be able to handle swarms.

THe command ability adds an average of 5 inches of threat range and horrors have the easiest battalions to fill in my opinion. If you are already running a horror list and don’t want to be forced into a courtier general then hollowmourne adds some nice bonuses! Let’s look at the first one, re rolls of 1 to wound on the charge, our horrors wound on 3s so re roll ones is essentially a 3/4 success rate (it’s actually a tad higher but 3/4s is easier to visualize then me saying 7/9s) with a knight focused list this will be an increase you will feel, and the ability to add 5 inch to the threat range of a unit for a cp is better then the threat range increases of blister skin for knight units only. If you aren’t running a horror list then the abilites and extra battleline are near useless to you as other grand courts are better for our other units (although in some scenarios flayers like the command ability too, it’s just that we have a spell that does similar to it so it’s not needed)

I like hollowmourne since it will also effect your flayers. Good all around court.

That’s why you’re not supposed to use ethanol to start your BBQ...

but the idea is great, using some cleansing ritual for initiation... to burn away the sins to purify the soul (Malekith Style) 😂

Yep my whole army is done like that. When i saw blisterskin I was like oh isnt that convenient

You guys should try this list with The Feast Day , I've had remarkable success with it.

Crypt Infernal Courtier (120) - General

    Crypt Infernal Courtier (120)

    Varghulf Courtier (160)

    UNITS

    6 x Crypt Flayers (340)

    6 x Crypt Flayers (340)

    6 x Crypt Flayers (340)

    6 x Crypt Flayers (340)

    ALLIES

    40 x Zombies (240)

Okay couple of questions. Why the vargulf? If they are all horrors why not just use another crypt infernal.

    Why not Deadwatch?

    Why zombies instead of ghouls?
