Granted, they can do whatever they want, by GW has pretty firmly established that defiance against him by any undead is utterly impossible. Even the Mortarchs bend to his will.

The idea of an undead faction that can resist him is really sort of a fantasy I don't expect to become reality.

Right, 'cuz GW has never written themselves into a corner and then made a significant change to the narrative before...

  2. I'm really disappointed that the leader is another mortarch. I really wanted a Death faction that actually challenged Nagash in some way. Without any internal conflict Death will remain boring to me. ...but really I already have too much stuff so that's probably a good thing.

I'll be happy to see new cool models accross the table from me though. That's always fun.

I'm hoping as big a new release as the Gitz were. Talking about half a dozen new kits or more, endless spells, terrain and of course a tome the ties all that together and adds existing kits as an integral part of it.

That might be what would make me finally start a Death faction.

I'd bet heavy the release will be Git sized or bigger. The amount of marketing usually corresponds to the size of the release and there had been a lot of marketing.

...which kinda makes me sad for my Bonesplitterz. They've been completely silent since announcing tje book, so anything more than a single new model (besides terrain and endless spells) is unlikely.

I've thought this was an unsupported assumption since day 1, creating false expectations in the community.

You never know, but I'd wonder why they have given the slaves to darkness keyword to a bunch of new models if they were going to drop the entire thing. They definitely get merged with Everchosen if/when they get a book. But I'd be very surprised if they don't get anything.

I'd personally find it an odd choice for GW because the ypushed Slaves at Christmas with a bundle deal and they've pushed Slaves at the mid-year with Warcry warbands. So leaving them another full half a year or more without any update just seems like a very odd release pattern choice when they've front-loaded interest with pushing cheap models and new warbands and a new wargame; all of which is aiming to steer people into Slaves.

Slaves are still in that bracket where they could lose models; get significant changes to how the army operates and its point costs as well as potential duel purpose of the book such as wrapping in Everchosen.

Yeah, the switch away from Slaves after building them up seemed odd to me as well. I actually just up their cheap box since I've thought the modles were great and they seemed like they would get a update and merger with Everchosen soon.

Re: Models I assume there is no information about which if any of their models might be discontinued. One would think stuff in their start collecting and special boxes would be safe. ...but with the great order cull I'm a little worried I've invested a bunch of money in models that may get discontinued.

AoS already suffers from combat dice bloat. GW should seriously try to tone that down and instead offer bonuses on making the existing attacks more powerful instead.

Sadly, I know for many GW game players the amount of dice rolled is directly proportional to the amount of fun they will have.

Personally, when 50% or more of the time playing a game is rolling dice the system could use some cleanup.

Ironically, Warcry with its already fewer models has a lot less dice rolled per attack than AoS, making it super fast to play.

Yeah, I had my first game of Warcry yesterday and I really liked how quickly it moved. I'm not sure it's system of alternate activation and no saves would work very well in a large game, but I completely agree that it would be nice to reduce dice rolls. ...and I say this as Bonesplitterz player that often runs Kunnin' Rukk.

That will be really hard as Nagash can dominate any undead - "Oh, you're that powerful Vampire Lord that conquered half of Shyish and you're master spellcaster that can kill even a god? Cool. Now do a dance."

See, that is exactly why I dislike Death as a faction. Eveyone dancing on Nagash's strings is boring. Im hoping for some ancient and powerful force to rebell and  challenge him. But if that's impossible I'll just continue not to play death.

...unless the new models are too awesome to resist. 😉

The Warhammer Community Open Day coverage makes it pretty clear that the great and terrible force awakened at the end of Forbidden Power is the one making plans in the video. :)

    You're probably right.

I just really want a death faction that isn't under Nagash's bone thumb, so I'm likely making up off the wall theories. Ahhh, well. I'm still holding out hope for reborn Tomb Kings lead by Khatep.

Stupas are Buddhist reliquaries or sepulchres. See them all over Asia. Nothing to do with ancient Egypt. Also, looks nothing like that picture. They're normally pretty big. That just looks like a gravestone to me.

Sorry. Typo. Ment stele not stupa. Look up Egyptian stele. They look very similar to the roomor engine pic.

Hmmm. You're right. I might have the wrong spelling and thus the wrong random religious thing.

    That is a probable hypothesis

    We'll see.

If they are right it probably means that whatever Lady Olynder freed from the storm vault it probably isn't part of the new death army. It wouldn't be the first time GW has built up a monster or godbeast that isn't actually playable.

It may also mean that the speaker's master isn't Nagsh. It might be a stretch, but I'm really hoping to see an undead faction that is opposed to Nagash or at least has their own agenda. Neo-Tomb Kings from the realm of light would fit the bill perfectly.

  12. Did anyone see Warhammer Weekley? They think the rumor engine of the stele (headstone with candles) confirms it is a new version of Tomb Kings. Steles are Egyptian funerary markers and this one has a pyramid on it for christ's sake. Plus its got candles and rays of light and the old Tomb Kings used light magic extensively.

Personally, I'm super excited! Tomb Kings are by far the coolest death in my view since I hate vampires and ghouls.

  13. Hi All,

I'm on the fence about when to pick up some Orruks. Has anyone heard any rumors when Ironjawz will get a updated battletome? I kinda what to see where the army is going before I spend yet more money on AoS.

    Cheers!

Maybe not. Skaven used to be, but that doesn't have to remain so. Look at the box. Big gribblues. No clanrats. Maybe the silence from Skaven has been intentional to let them come back as a non-horde.

That seems unlikely. They have always been a horde and the stories set in the Realms generally portray them as a horde. I mean, Thanquol is apparently lurking around the Realms some place. I doubt they will entirely change the structure of Skaven. They wouldn't really be Skaven if there wasn't a chittering mass of rats on the board with a sprinkling of elite unites and war machines.

  15. Hey All, with all the discussion and guessing about what's coming in 2019 has anyone heard any rumors about a big Skaven release?

Warhammer Weekly, Mortal Realms, etc. all suggested a Beasts of Chaos style book could show up at some point. However, a rumor has popped up on the Skaven Facebook page that GW has been leaking that a big Skaven release could show up in the spring.

Has anyone on TGA heard anything about that? As someone just starting to build a Skaven army, it'd be nice to know if I should be saving my money.

We are just a small group of friends playing at each others houses.

I think there are people that play at the GW store over the weekend and I think Fandom II downtown has some gaming tables in the basement, although I have never looked down there. I am not sure what, if anything, else is around. I feel there must be enough people seem to buy GW stuff.

We have a pretty regular game Saturday mornings/afternoons at FDB in Gatineau. None of our group has a table at their place.

Swing by and join in some Saturday if you like.

Hey! You play Flesh-Eaters? Their lore is just wonderful.

Anyway, I'm in Ottawa as well and I'd love to try playing against the FEC.

What would people do to finish off this list?

    Upgrade the Boar Boys?

Split the second block of Morr Boys into MSU?

    Take some damage Endless Spells?

Take some board control Endless Spells?

    Take the Triumph?

(I'm usually pretty keen on a Triumph, but this army already has loads of rerolls and CPs).

    Leaders
    Wurrgog Prophet (140)
    Maniak Weirdnob (120)
    Wardokk (100)
    Wardokk (100)
    Wardokk (100)
    Orruk Warboss (140)
    - Great Waaagh Banner
    - Allies

    Battleline
    30 x Savage Orruk Morboys (300)
    30 x Savage Orruk Morboys (300)
    5 x Savage Boarboyz (100)

    Units
    4 x Savage Big Stabbas (200)

    Battalions
    Drakkfoot Warclan (140)
    Kop Rukk (200)

    Total: 1940 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 3
    Allies: 140 / 400
    Wounds: 184

That's almost exactly the list I'm building too. I tend to drop the Weirdnob, though and either take more stabbers or Morboyz or ally in unit of Brutes.

I really wish we got more Ally points. I have an Idol of Gork, but he usually sits on the shelf since the Warboss is so good with Morboyz and Stabbas.
