They can also release old metal Karl Franz on griffin and call it "generic empire general". ;)

Though for the Empire, I'm honestly expecting them to release the old engineer chariot and maybe the famous "boat on wheels". They'd be quite fitting in a artillery Army of Infamy.

I think they could release a retooled resin version of the Elector count on griffon

    image.png.4f5209f79e949fbeac694e2565bc1087.png

and then release the old Karl Franz as metal made to order (I have high hopes for them to release halfling stuff as made to order too).

They decided not to release Azagh or Gorbad, that are really cool minis and could work as generic warbosses and instead retooled the older warboss on wyvern.

as of forgeworld stuff... I'm pretty sure they'll release the empire comand group, but I really have doubts about the rest. If they release the marienburg class landship it would be awesome. They're adding stuff to the arcane journals that wasn't on the index books, so I still believe! XD

Be ready to get all the old Chaos kits, for they are all coming back. Yes, even the forsaken. :P

Basically, if a unit can be found in AoS and TOW, it will automatically be the old Battle kit, never the new AoS one. That's pretty much their stance on TOW so far.

    forsaken are a given 😂

but warriors and chosen have options for great weapons and halberds. And the old warriors don't have the great weapons or halberds, and chosen halberds I think were an upgrade sprue.

let's see how they handle all the equipment quirks of the rest of the armies.

Also what means "old kits stay in ToW" for AoS dwarf and CoS kits...

I don't agree with you here. I like to get different warbands with different themes but let's say I want something similar to Necromunda because I would like a Witch Hunters warband that is expanded every time instead of getting that warband and then moving into something different.

I am requesting a game without playing the game, yes. Am I requesting a rules change directly? No, but my request could require the rules to change in order to make it possible. Is my request less valid because I didn't play the game? I don't think so.

    but that's not feasible.

Everyone has their own idea of what would be their ideal game in their head (and in our imagination everything works flawlessly), and you can't cater to everyones tastes.

But on the other hand, you can listen to people that actually plays your game and if you find it necessary bring that feedback to further develop it.

Yeah, you can also just implement stuff that changes core aspects of the game with the hopes of bringing new people to the game and hope that the current players are going to stay or that you're going to bring more in than are leaving.

Its a matter of how much data you have and what risks want to take.

And then is the stuff like "make it more necromunda", but that possibly means a different thing for everyone that asks for it.

  4. I'm quite happy where warcry currently stands in terms of core gameplay.

Adding stuff like loadout customization I think it deviates from what warcry is, but I could see some rework on the inventory side of things allowing to carry more stuff on top of the standard equipment.

On the campaing side of things, there the game could be a little more complex and maybe lethal... (its hard to lose band members in a campaing).

To be more like other games (mordheim, necromunda), warcry should stick to a handful of warbands and grow them, but it looks that we are entering seasonal rotation time or AoS replacement units.

EDIT - it's possible that like with 40K reveals, we aren't quite seeing everything?

it's not showing whats the difference between 2 hammers and hammer&shield, so probably doesn't have everything there?

That's definitely how I would handle it. My old Empire Outriders are currently serving as veteran Freeguild Cavaliers.

I can understand that some people feel differently about it, though. Especially right after this surprising announcement.

its a way of having diversity on the army, but, s you say not everyone will feel the same. And I assume not everywhere proxying will be received the same way.

I got fed up painting skeletons, and wanted some visual diversity on my soulblight army, so I built  20 skeletons and 20 chainrasps to proxy as skellis.

So if I want to field a heavy liberator army, but I want some variety (and use my old painted minis), I could use some liberators and some sequitors.

A benefit of doing this is that in big melee fights, its easy to diferentiate units from each other.

bit of a sweeping statement, what about:

    celestar ballista

    tauralon

and, without kitbashing (because if you count kitbashing, every stormcast is any stormcast):

    evocators on dracoline

    evocators

    arcanum on gryph

I'm not counting any kitbashing. Just proxying similar looking/equiped minis with similar basesizes.

I think dracolines and dracoths share the same base size, so proxing them is no prob. (same as with the sequicators).

Tauralon could work with Celestant Prime or Ionus... but maybe they re-release thunderstrike Aventis...

The ballista looks tricky if they don't release a ruinator warmachine

Huge overreaction. At least some of those models will get replacements and then you can just keep using your old stuff. Perhaps even some Sacrosanct.

most of sacrosanct can easily be used as proxies for the stuff that's remaining.

On the warcry side... warbands that are made as replacement units can be repackaged once they're out of the loop.

As they were expanding warcry just by making new warbands, cycling them seemed inevitable. It would have been much better to focus on a limited list of warbands in a similar fashion to necromunda, but I suppose the popularity of warcry was due to being cross compatible with AoS.

Let's see if they announce 3.0 down the line...

Hope that vindictors and liberators will be merged into a single warscroll with 2 weapon choices

I think is more nuanced than that. Shields work different on liberatos, sequitors and vindictors. The article says that libs go with shield and hammer, but currently they can use 2 weapons (sword and shield, was merged into the hammer statline) and the 1/5 great weapon.

Liberators also have their contest objetive skill... so I don't think is going to be as easy as merging warscrolls.

It was the former. Their strategy is to make a big launch box for the experienced players, and then switch to three smaller boxes to entice new players. The largest box starter box contains scenery. They’ve done this for 40k 8-10th editions. With AoS third edition was the first time they sold a box with plastic scenery.
I wonder if the smart move would be to scrap the larger starter box and make the launch box an ongoing product with a much smaller initial print run, then intrudce the two smaller boxes later on.

They've also introduced a little change in leviathan, that could be brought to 4th. Leviathan core rulebook includes de Path to glory campaign, that the stand alone core book doesn't have.

They just mean the last one due for 2023 (Winter). We'll get another box set in Spring, then they'll show off a new roadmap.

aren't Briar and Bone the spring warbands? The last ones from this roadmap.

If it is not on the list I posted, it is made to order. Then we won't know the price until they list it on their web.

Its online only, not mto, bonegrinder, troll hag and all the metal stay in the o&g lineup.

I imagine they'll annouce soon the made to order stuff (old wyvern, oldschool trolls, marauder giant, etc)

Except based on the preview article these 'siege rules' seem tied to the specific range of AoS terrain pieces GW currently sells, and sadly those piece are not very conducive to setting up a siege scenario.  no walls, no towers, no moats, no palisades, etc.

white dwarf 496 has generic siege rules (basically a phase before the battle starts) and wd 489 has rules for breachable walls (and a tutorial on how to build the walls  & gates)

  14. with old world, I think is better not to think in "classic" edition system like Aos or 40k. Look at how necromunda or HH are managed.

The game gets expanded without a clear new edition and then gets consolidated in a new book, but its not a new edition.

Old World could perfectly grow in campaign books or whatever and down the road get new books (but not a new edition in the traditional sense)

Aren't Steam Tanks and Gyrocopters already with us via AoS Cities of Sigmar?

Yeah, but thats the point, all models that are made to order are mostly older minis variants of stuff that is already sold or is going to be in old world lineup.

A good example is the giant. We already have a plastic giant (from ¿7th? Fantasy ed) and are going to get a retooled resin giant, the bonegrinder and made to order marauder giant

I've just realised that forgeworld orc stuff is not mto, so I expect Empire and dwarf ones to be regular releases.
