  1. Don't have a summoning "mechanic" per se. Allariele has a once per game non-dispellable summon: she can just bring a unit on. the choices are elsewhere in this thread but Kurnoth Hunters and a TL are the most popular.

Branchwych can summon a unit of 10 Dryads with restriction as a spell.

  2. Huge thanks to Ady and Pete for running this - i had such a good time!

    Pro's:

    • Loved it being back in just one room. Atmosphere felt better all weekend and there was never a queue for food. Wasn't hard trying to get to your next table etc.
    • Food was way better than last year - maybe linked with previous point and logistics of trying to feed 100 hungry wargamers a hot meal  in 45mins
    • Sportsmanship - despite losing three of my games i had SUCH a good experience! they were all exactly what i wanted form a tournament - competitive but friendly. No one tried any ****** moves or silly measuring and there was nothing silly like what Twitter was eagerly reporting happens in tournaments in Las Vegas...
    • I didn't have to take home the rubber ******!

    Cons:

    • i didn't get to take home the rubber ****** ;-)

    Hi All,

I'm running another tournament at The Sanctuary in April. The date has now been changed to Sunday 29th April to enable more people to attend (avoid clash with SCGT)

    2000Pt 3 game tournament.

Please, (PLEASE) read the comp pack as it details a couple of things i'm trying out regarding army selection and painting having talked them through withe the Dragon Slayers.

  4. i have mixed feelings with wandering rogue's point in some respects.

if he has converted a sorceror lord to have the defining feature of the Sayl model (tentacles etc) then i personally would be totally fine with that. Conversely if he plopped down a Sorc lord with a new staff and told me it was Sayl i'd be insulted. I think there IS a fine line.

We have to ensure we are inclusive as a community. The scene is rebuilding and we need to make sure we nurture it rather than turn people away with elitist attitudes. That said, my view has always been that if you go to a tournament you bring your "A-game" model wise and i know there were many shoddy armies.

If the winning army did indeed have 3 glade guard as waywatchers and 3 glade guard as waywatcher heroes and the only distinguishing feature was the paint jobs then i think that's taking the ****** and i'd feel very disrespected as an opponent or TO. If you're going to play the filth the you should at least buy the models.

I swear i saw Chaos models that were based beautifully but were essentially painted to look like stone (grey and washed an highlighted).

Regarding the actual slaughter - i had a great time socially but realised i'd brought a plastic spoon to a gun fight early on and so took my swan dive to the bottom tables as best i could. It sucks being sober around other drunk people!

I've took a keen interests in the podcasters review on the tourney and more importantly the meta since the tournament and it's a very perplexing time. GW are releasing so many models so fast that i think people are meta chasing and so aren't devoting the time into their armies that they could when you knew it was a couple of  years until an update. I'm basically at the point of selling my chaos because i know that for it to be competetive, i need to buy Sayl and some Skyfires and thats not how i want to play. If i get over £350 for them i'm gone!

and by gone i mean into another army...but therein lies the problem. If i want to compete, i have to buy a power army and right now, to me thats either Stormcast or Thundertusk spam (for my aesthetical preference - there are obviously more). I've tinkered with a Pheonix Temple themed army and with a wanderers/sylvaneth army which id LOVE to go with but know hand on heart just aren't going to be competetive becasue they're the old stuff...

    Hi All,

I'm starting to run Age of Sigmar events at The Sanctuary nr. Mansfield.

The first event, "Slayer of Kings" will be on Saturday 28th January 2017 and will be a 1 day, 3 game, 2000pt matched play tournament.

I'm intending on doing Bi-Monthly tournaments throughout 2017 and a league table will be kept (similar to how the Sanctuary does it's 40k tournaments) whereby the top 24 at the end of the year will be invited to a special "Hall of Fame" tournament in December 2017 (Top placed will enter for free).

    Pack can be found here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/1ifh4arwxqpchqj/AoS Jan 2017 Slayer of Kings.pdf?dl=0

    2. Matt Bennett
    3. Paul Whitehead - PAID

Also really don't care for insisting on bringing the models for the Wyldwoods instead of (say) swamp terrain Fat Mat cut outs of the same shape - the models love to topple over on the roots of the actual models (and you mention damaging them on the trees), which wastes time. The swamp mats look good and save a fortune.

i'd assume for the same reason you have to bring archaon if you want to use archaon instead of a very nice circular mouse mat? As already mentioned in this topic, you can't place models on the holes of the forest template if you choose to remove the trees so a mousemat would need to be printed with those holes in the same place?

    apologies if i've misunderstood

  7. Hi Ben,

Really interested in this. Can you confirm a few things please?

    + Is lunch included?
+ Will we be bringing our own terrain
+ Will fully painted be required?

    Thanks

    Adam

  8. Hi,

Yup i rage quit. I did give it a go granted but in hindsight, the three games i had just weren't the right ones (pre-SCGT and Mo-Comp).

SOld all 6 of my 8th ed armies which was a good thing as now i can come back in completely fresh with a brand new army (Chaos) that i'd never done before so i'm excited for the hobby side too! (Archaon OMG!)

Hoping to get the YouTube battle reports going again too
