  1. $50 each for the new woods? 😭 Suddenly having more limited space to place terrain is sounding like a good thing...

But yeah I suppose it was bound to happen, I just hope we don't need a ton to be competitive.

On a separate note I'm a bit shocked that Sylveneth have been picked for a new book, the current one has aged quite well, will definitely be interested to see how the play style evolves.

Me too. Nothing in the current book really seems outdated to me besides the reliance on Citadel Woods. I'm excited though, I really hope we get some new terrain to replace them. I know people will complain if that happens but the current woods are kinda clunky to play with and need an update.

  3. Congrats on finishing your army! I've also been slowly chipping away on finishing painting my first ever army. Because I want to paint every detail it's taking forever lol but that's ok as long as I'm making progress I figure I'll get to the end eventually. I powered through batch painting 10 tree revenants by telling myself I can start painting my Treelord when they're done 😆

  4. Heading into a 1000 point tournament soon, how does this list look? Should I switch the Treelord for a TLA and a unit of dryads (giving up the battalion)?

    - Deepwood Spell : Regrowth
    Branchwych (80)
    - General
    - Command Trait : Warsinger
    - Artefact : Acorn of the Ages
    - Deepwood Spell : Verdant Blessing
    Branchwraith (80)
    - Artefact : Ranu's Lamentiri
    - Deepwood Spell : Throne of Vines
    UNITS
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)
    BEHEMOTHS
    Treelord (240)

I don't know how many here have tried a unit of ten revenants, but I urge you to try them. Five aren't nearly as threatening as ten that can be almost anywhere on the field, with an average damage of 2-6 against AS4 without counting the 2-damage weapon on the unit champion or rerolling a single dice.

Yeah I agree. With 10 models it's at least possible to do some damage, not so much with 5. It's all about that charge and alpha strike though because as soon as they get hit back it's all over for those poor tree spirits 😥 I'll have to give it a try but overall still seems like it's only effective in niche situations. Depending on what GW sees as their main role it would be nice if they had some sort of retreat mechanic, like a small chance to teleport away after piling in and attacking.

  6. As a newer player the woods were one of the biggest barriers to getting started and they are very clunky to play with. I'd love to have a terrain piece that relied on area of effect rules rather than models physically crossing and fighting on it.

  7. Has anyone tried taking a Hagbane Spite in 2.0? Now that it has a 30" range I'm thinking it'd be pretty nice for finishing off low wound wizards when your opponent isn't expecting it especially since hero sniping with Kurnoth Hunter bows is harder.

If  cut Drycha I can take all the Revenants up to 10-strong. The last 100 points is probably Endless spells, just not sure which ones yet.

You mean bring 40 spite revenants (4x10)? Probably not recommended, could be fun though ?

I think most people who run Dreadwood just bring the minimum 20 spite revenants for the battalion. Not only would bringing that many be very expensive monetarily, but spite revenants aren't very good at screening your other troops or tying enemies up. They are too few and can't take a hit. Use dryads instead because they are much tankier with their buffs and more cost effective points wise.

  9. So what's the general prognosis with regards to starting a Wanderers army from scratch these days? Do people expect that they'll continue to be supported beyond GH2018? If I play Wanderers at 1000 points can I expect to be tabled 90% of the time, regardless of experience? Metal hero models notwithstanding, I really like the models that are still supported. I don't care much about playing a top tier army but I don't want to dump money into a faction that gets phased out after a year or so.

For the purposes of a Charge through a Wyldwood first complete the Charge action - to satisfy any other conditions that may trigger from the action of a succesful charge.  Such as pile ins any special rules associated such as the Wave of Terror attack. Once the Charge movement has been completed, then roll for the Wyldwood ability for any individual models that triggered the ability.

The distinction herefor Flying models is that the rules for the Wyldwood specifically state if a model ends such a movement in the wood, so whilst a flying model would ignore the rule for movement/charging through, they would not bypass the part about ending a movement in the wood and still have to roll.

Is this the accepted interpretation of the rules for flying units in Wyldwoods? I'm going to be playing some Nighthaunt players soon who might be skeptical, just want to make sure I'm getting it right ?

  11. I wonder how much deliberation went into determining this rule. I'm sure it was discussed in detail but part me thinks it went something like:

"Hey, we forgot to update the Wyldwood warscroll. People are wondering if Wyldwoods block line of sight now."

    "Uh... sure?"

"Sounds good! It's in the errata now, let's get lunch!" ?

From the newly updated Designer's Commentry for Sylvaneth Battletome:

"Q: Does the Overgrown Wilderness scenery rule apply to the
Citadel Woods that make up a Sylvaneth Wyldwood?
    A: Yes."

Whoa! Thanks for letting us know. That's huge!

I find it hard to believe people even questioned this.  I mean it specifically says that a Wyldwood is made up of Citadel woods.  That alone would confer the traits of a Citadel wood right into a Wyldwood.  Glad to see they didn't change anything and kept all the woods rules consistent.

Pretty easy to believe considering GW stated otherwise through their Facebook account... edit: on second thought their response is a little vague. Honestly it could of been read both ways I'm glad they cleared it up officially.

  13. Hey all I'm pretty sure GW confirmed on Facebook that Sylvaneth Wyldwoods do not get the bonus from the new Citadel Woods warscroll. I just tried looking for the post and couldn't find it. They do have two different warscrolls so that makes sense.
