No idea what I’m looking at here. Like nada, I kinda make out a grill, but I don’t know if I’m looking at a back, a vehicle or a butt.

Probably connected with some of the other imperial symbols on other Advent calendar hints. I see some design similarities to the arm holding the book.

I've been thinking since the roadmap reveal, and at first I was really confident on Bonespitterz, but now I'm starting to think that maybe we really get surprised.

For the "vampires" one, there is a rumour engine, that on warboss Kurgan site is said to be a dark eldar, that I think maybe could be one of the vampires hair.

    What do you think?

    2020-07-14.jpg

No this model is 40k Lelith.  The model is shown in this trailer at the 14 second timestamp although you can just barely glimpse the hooks in the hair as they are on the edge of the frame.

Yeah, but this is so encrypted that it is barely a hint. At this point nobody could even guess that the being in the mirror is Sigvald.

Whoever is able to do that, has no trouble to interpret  the Nostratdamus verses

They might have been able to put it together combined with the other story about the mirror where the duardin find it.

For some reason I thought the battleforce boxes (particularly the Gitz one) would be $120.  Expecting that might be ludicrous but atm it's $200+ on Amazon, all with a 3-to 5-week delivery time to America lol.

Any chance we'll see the 2020 battlehere in america before Xmas?  If so what are the odds I could still get one for ~$150?

The Battleforces were $210 usd. Most of the boxes had an effective ~35% discount on the individual components retail. 3rd parties usually offer 15% discount so best you could have expected is ~$180. However, they sold out in most places very quickly...

i guessing no one considering that it just going to be regular Vampire that are not pirates

Oh I'm 100% they're Vampires but not Vampirates. I think Vampires are inevitable, but guessing what theme GW is going to apply to new armies is a recipe for disappointment. After all, who had High Elves as Elemental animal temples and wood elves as half beast, mohawked redheads.

So as far as a soulblight army is concerned, there were some hints in the blood bowl presentation on Saturday that there’s a classic horror team on the way. Sadly that could explain all the vampire and werewolf rumor threads we’ve been seeing. I hope I’m wrong, as is really like a soulblight AOS army

That team has already been leaked. It doesn't solve any of the rumour engines.

It sounds like the different Grand Alliances can take a different named hero mega gargant as an ally. This makes sense and means that GW can give the allied versions different stats, both from those generic ones in the Battletome for Giants and also from each other. So the Chaos one can have Chaos features etc... It's a neat idea on how to add a single model kit as a generic ally to any army; whilst at the same time allowing GW to design rules that are practical for that model in different situations.

It is also a prudent business move to limit which Gargants can ally into which grand alliance to try to create more reasons for someone to buy more than 1 box (i.e. darnit I can't ally the same Gargant into both the Lumineth and S2D armies I own).

twin stones seems to effectively grant everyone in range consistent +2 to cast then?

also still not entirely clear to me if it resets in case spell is failed or unbound? ie if used to buff the caster

I'm not sure this is accurate.

It isn't always +2 after. It depends if the cast was successful. If you draw upon the Twinstones on every cast, the 1st cast will be at +1, and every cast after that would be +2 if the prior cast was successful, or +1 if the prior cast was unsuccessful.*

*Unless the consensus is that the value doesn't reset on a failed cast, which is an interpretation I can see the textual merit to, but seems unlikely that it was intended that way.

It is sad that GW still allows rules confusion even after an errata. How hard would it be to respond to questions more frequently (similar to how DnD does)?

With the release of the sacrosanct chamber, does it not feel like they’re moving in that direction? I could see one day the different chapters of stormcast be separate armies with different books, no?

I don't see that the same. GW can literally sell the same new model to a dozen different Space Marine players. I don't see how the Stormcast chambers are shaping up in a way where they'd get that multiplication effect for a Stormcast model.

    You don't play 40k, do you? 😅

Basically what they did (do) with Space Marines is the opposite of everything you're saying. They keep adding more and more, and some time ago they actually introduced a new type of unit which made the older ones completely obsolete, all of this cuz they know that SM sell (to give you a better idea, SM have received more stuff and new kits than every single other faction combined together; actually I think they have twice all the others combined together).

I don't know if Stormcast are for AoS as popular and representative as SM are for 40k, but they definitely wanted them to be, so it wouldn't be too odd if AoS 3.0 doubled down on SC vs someone.

Stormcast lack the key structural element that Space Marines have which limit GW's incentive to push them as heavily. Stormcast is one army. Space Marines, because of chapters, is many different armies. When GW creates a new Space Marine unit, they can sell it to people who play Ultramines, Space Wolves, Blood Angels, etc., so there is a multiplication effect that isn't mirrored in Stormcast. I'm not necessarily willing to say this means we stand any chance of having a starter set without Stormcast, but it does seem to limit Stormcast releases mid-edition which gives space for a lot of other armies.

  12. What are peoples' thoughts on casting spells with Vanari units that aren't Power of Hysh? Initially I was really stoked at the flexibility of having so many spell choices built into the army but as I continue to think about it I find myself asking questions like "wait a second when would I ever want to cast a spell with my Sentinels that isn't Power of Hysh?" Or "do I really want to have my Dawnriders cast Speed of Hysh if they're gonna be running into a fight without their sunmetal lances powered up?"

A lot of what gw has done recently has been pretty popular. The only products that I can think of which didn’t sell are the massively overpriced blood of the Phoenix box and the Khorne Slaanesh demon box. A lot of the newer armies feel like they have been partially designed to bring in old warhammer fans. The Lumineth are directly targeted at old high elf fans. The gloomspite is largely just better sculpts if old models. OBR is pretty new but it definitely nods towards the tomb kings. The only armies that really feel different are the KO and the Idk.

All this is just saying that they don’t have much else to bring over from the old world. Maybe dark elves, vampires and an empire equivalent. While we are all very impatient gw has at least a ten year plan for AOS. I will be surprised if there is more than a maximum of three new armies in a given year. In fact before this year gw has been doing just one all new army each year. 2015 Stormcast, 2016 fyreslayers, 2017 ko,  2018 idk and obr in 2019. The other waves of miniatures: DoK, gloomspite, StD, sylvaneth, ironjawz, nighthaunt, and the 4 chaos god releases are all expansions of existing ranges. So that’s 20 major waves of minis in 5 years (3 waves of Stormcast) with an average of One all new faction and 3 expansions a year. I see no reason why gw won’t continue in more or less that fashion for the foreseeable future.

I'd consider Nighthaunt an all new army too. It is basically the same new to old ratio as OBR.

  14. My theory on the Zenith angel elves is that they're gonna look a lot like Eltharion, but the model design is such a complicated feat of engineering that they'll be one of the later temples that comes out as model design and fabrication continues to improve and it takes time to pull off such complicated models.

Actually you can make a pretty solid just Gortrek list:

Where the hell is Tyrion? list
    Zitrec
    Gotrek - 520 pts
    Scinari Cathallar - 140 pts
30 Wardens - 360 pts – Hysh Ward thing, Heavenly Blessing
    10 Wardens - 120 pts
    - Swiftness of Hysh, Sparkling Light
    10 Wardens - 120 pts
    – Hysh Ward thing, Heavenly Blessing
10 Sentinels - 140 pts - Swiftness of Hysh, Sparkling Light
    10 Sentinels - 140 pts
    – Total Darkness,
10 Sentinels - 140 pts - Total Darkness, Sun Eruption
5 Dawnriders – 130 pts - Sun Eruption, Heavenly Blessing
    Auralan Legion - 120 pts
    Hyshian Twinstones – 30 pts
    Soulsnare shackles – 40 pts
    2000pts total
    , 3 drops

Gotrek and 30 Wardens advance, with Dawnriders flanking (mainly to be a pain, target small heroes or units, cap an easy obj or throw a cheeky shackles on someone)

2 x 10 wardens move slow and support archers.

    Archers target heroes/support first.

Have 10 wardens summon the Twinstone, then cast some of your unit buffs in range of it. Then you can have the other 10 Wardens either cast off Either Total Darkness or the big block if within 12 cast the fnp spell on themselves.

One can also cast the half movement spell also from Zitrec

Do the units all know 2 spells from the lore or is that a Zaitrec trait? I missed that.

I think this is going to be my initial goal list to build towards. I really like the look of the Stoenguard but rules-wise the seem pretty weak compared to the rest of the stuff in the army so they will not make the cut initially. For nation I think Iliatha or Zaitrec are the most interesting (and they don't have any dumb melee traits or artefacts that I have to take for my wizard heroes…)

    Eltharion - 220 pts
    Alarith Stonemage - 130 pts
    Scinari Cathallar - 140 pts
    20 Wardens - 240 pts
    20 Wardens - 240 pts
    10 Sentinels - 140 pts
    10 Sentinels - 140 pts
    5 Dawnriders - 130 pts
    5 Dawnriders - 130 pts
Spirit of the Mountain - 340 pts
    Auralan Legion - 120 pts
    Hyshian Twinstones - 30 pts
    2000 pts total

Is there much value in the stonemage without any stoneguard?
