Not quite a rumor but interesting news from the GW half year report:

    https://investor.games-workshop.com/2021/01/12/half-year-report/

The GW Finance Report specifically calls out the Indomitus Box, Mega-Gargant and Lumineth Realmlords for selling really well!

I'd read that a bit more tempered. The statements about mega Gargants and Lumineth do not contain any qualifiers on success. They are factual statements highlighting the most prominent releases for Age of Sigmar with a bit of narrative flair/marketing. There is a separate, adjacent statement about Age of Sigmar continuing to perform well.

"The Lumineth, a new race, kick started the year for Age of Sigmar and the Mega Gargants in October set a new benchmark for monster kits. Our full range of Age of Sigmar continues to perform well."

Any word on what this month's free model is when visiting/ purchasing at the Warhammer store?  Or did they forget about their own promotion after only 2 months?

Well the model was supposed to be Slaanesh and Slaanesh was pushed to February so it is probably delayed to February.

Didn't they say in the Sunday article that they would look at new Store anniversary models this week?  But I went back and its no longer there so it could be that someone thought they where gonna show them off this week instead of just the teaser we got and they corrected it afterwards so your theory could be true

I think they might have accidentally released the weekly video a week early. I think we're going to get to see it next week.

  4. Not to disappoint anyone but what if the witch/vampire hunter is the store birthday model this year? Think about it - if all of these are coming in early 2021, I don't see room for it to release with a full new army. There are definitely other possibilities, but I think one way or another this might be a fairly standalone model for now.

The only "concept art" reveals we have had are for Kislev. In both posts there was an image of some old Kislev sculpts. They are tapping HARD into the whole nostalgia thing. If they turn around and disallow all old models from the game, while just providing a handful of new models to play it, I will be extremely surprised. In a bad way, of course.

Here's the major logistical problem with that assumption: There's no way they can reprint all the old models that are out of print, and they aren't going to set up this barrier to entry to new players where they can't acquire any of the models that all the veterans have held onto. I don't see a practical way to incorporate old models into the game.

I think this refering to the Kislev models that were referenced in the articles about that faction.

I'm not sure the proper interpretation of those references is that those models will be playable in the new game. I thought it was more of a showing the design heritage and rekindling some nostalgia.

Of course. That said, the constant references to the old models, along with everything else you said, seems to point strongly towards heroic 28mm.

Where are these "constant references to old models?" I just think it is wise to temper expectations until we know more.

There’s been job adverts on the GW site that mention The Old World and they were Specialist Games jobs (so part of Forge World). I know because I applied for one.

Edit: in fact there’s one now, for Specialist Games Studio Graphic Designer.

Got it. Still doesn't mean the models will be resin like I've seen some people assuming.

  9. We don't even know if Old World is being run out of Forge World or GW proper yet right?

I agree with others that to not destroy expectations GW should release a high level design blueprint that answers the main questions:

    1. Who is making the game?

    2. What scale?

    3. Rounds, squares, or a combo approach with movement trays?

    4. Will any existing models be usable?

My impression was that the Xmas Day teaser was going to be fairly modest, with the bulk of revelations coming on New Years Day.

Reading between the lines of a couple of WHC articles.

That seems like a lot of reading between the lines. They've made 0 references to a New Years Day reveal.

If anything got delayed majorly, it was the Old World. It was years away at announcement and because everyone knew that going in, it would make sense for it to be the first on the list of delays.

Old World was definitely never 2021. I don't know that COVID delays Old World at all. For a business like GW, COVID primarily impacts shipping/supply chain and manufacturing. Old World doesn't need either of those things for years.

There are absolutely models in CoS that could be in a double box. Most of the stuff from 8th ed fantasy would be fine, although that does mean freeguild are unlikely to make their way in.

In particular a wanderers box would look great.

Sorry I should have limited my comment to humans but this is in the context of a hypothetical witch hunter led box.

There are duel boxes all the time, what are you talking about? The most recent one was Shadow and Pain, so we know they can be part of Broken Realm. It's almost standard practice at this point to use these boxes to give new foot heroes to two factions, so a Vampire Hunter and plastic Vampire Lord are totally in the cards.

And no matter how you feel about the quality of the sculpts in Cities, they are a popular faction.

I'm willing to hold my ground and say I do not believe they will put Cities in a dual box. The models are just too old.

I didn't say dual boxes are unusual, I said they never contain fully new models on both sides. It is almost always existing models plus 1 new leader on both sides, and I just don't see what old Cities models you'd pack in with a new witch hunter.

Around march, in a Cities of Sigmar/Soulblight duel box.

Two new armies in a single box (I don't think that's happened outside a launch box before) or do you think they'd try to milk the pathetically old cities line by enticing people to purchase for the other contents of the box?  Honestly I can't even picture the marketing. A gorgeous new witch hunter would look embarassing next to some old freeguild.

  15. Here's the only hangup I have with the witch hunter theory. I've been working under the assumption that, since most of these advent calendar rumour engines seem to only be 3 or 4 models, we're gonna see the full reveal at the end that they are building up to. The question would then become, when the heck would a witch hunter be released? We already know there aren't any underworlds warbands left, and it would seem that the new army scene is getting crowded for AoS with Slaanesh and likely something undead on their way before 3.0 in the summer.

I know that's a lot of assumptions but if this is a witch hunter I think it has to be for either Warcry, which honestly feels a little off brand, or Warhammer Quest.

Sweet summer child, it is a Rumor engine, if it looks like something it is because it is not.  🤣

    This is probably Skaven.

Let's be fair people have nailed plenty of rumour engines before. Yes they are sometimes intentionally deceptive, but I think there is cause for hope.

Doesn't look ornate enough to be an Excelsior Warpriest, but the wooden shaft means it could be for a more mundane unit. What makes me doubt it's a Sigmarmite hammer is their recent stuff uses the shape they now hace on the Warhammer(tm) symbol, although the shape does appear on the WHFB War Altar.

This looks like the most promising sign for some sort of regular humans we've seen in a long time.
