Nice one - good to have your input. Thanks for that. Although you haven't chosen him, what's your opinion of the Krulghast Cruciator? There's a lot of debate whether or not his ability allows a 5+ shrug for wounds and mortal wounds. The terminology uses is ambiguous when looking at the mortals. Cheers in advance.

Think the last sentence in the mortal wounds sorts it out. He is ok but dosent justify his inclusion over other units for me. But it is now an option that nighthaunt have.

    Oh. Right.

So when I head over to TTT those two NH lists might appear in tournaments in may and june? Seraphon, KO and DoK lists need to be prepared for them?

I'm not a competitive meta player myself. Just asking out of curiosity.

Nighthaunt have the capacity to win against most armies especially in the scenarios. The battleline options are great and now with the emerald host you can keep your dreadblade alive for the hero missions . They are definately more competitive than people make them out to be which can catch people out.

Are you somewhere that still can’t play in person? One day events and club nights have been ramping back up here in the US.

Also, meta watch articles are not typically targeted at the hyper competitive crowd. They are mainly targeted at players who go to tournaments every now and then. If Nighthaunt become more popular, then they are an army that you need to be aware of just due to ignoring rend and their movement. And the article just focuses on lists that may come out of BR: Be’Lakor, so I think you’re being a little harsh.

    @Tzeentchmike

If you play that list, I’ll be interested to hear how it goes. I’ve been running the Death Riders battalion in Emerald Host and find those two together do make Hexwraiths a true threat.

Yes the deathriders and emerald host works so well together  if i was going to an event tomorrow which allowed it something like below would be my first choice

    Allegiance: Nighthaunt

    - Procession: Emerald Host

    Leaders
    Dreadblade Harrow (90)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Lord of the Host
    - Artefact: Pendant of the Fell Wind
Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (130)
    - Lore of the Underworlds: Shademist
    - Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Beacon of Nagashizzar
    Reikenor the Grimhailer (160)
    - Lore of the Underworlds: Shademist
    Knight of Shrouds (100)
    - Artefact: The Traitor Knight's Blade

    Battleline
    15 x Hexwraiths (390)
    10 x Hexwraiths (260)
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)

    Behemoths
    Black Coach (220)

    Battalions
    Deathriders (130)
    Chainguard (120)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Chronomantic Cogs (80)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 2
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 124

So was this list written with 3.0 in mind? Do you actually think that Lady Olynder, Hexwraiths and Harridans will have an impact on upcoming tournaments? That's the purpose of Metawatch articles, right?

Metawatch articles are concerning the current meta.

    You're that Mike?

I'd love to know how you'd play that list. Or any new list from Nighthaunt. As a playtester, did you test Nighthaunt? And if so, against what?

How are we looking ahead or perhaps during AoS 3.0 before we get a new battletome?

I know you can't offer anything that's behind an NDA, but I'd love to hear your personal opinions.

The list revolves around the big hexwraiths units taking on what ever needs to be hit hard. Olyander with her defensive shrugg can now chuck herself into the middle of any battlefield so she can maximise her mortal wound damage. The smaller units are just great at harassing small characters and units which become separated from the main army. They are also cheap objectives scorers so you don't need to commit your army turn 1 unless you want to.

Unfortunately you will have to wait and see about AoS 3, hopefully not too long to wait.

I used 20 in the last tournament I went to before covid, they were a solid unit then and have improved with the new scroll

Also doesn’t feature enough units of banshees for the battalion. Clearly someone who didn’t understand the nuances of the book. There’s a lot of rules and armies in this game - even the best players can misunderstand books they’re not familiar with.

Unfortunately it was just an editing mistake as trying to create the list in warscroll builder before it was updated with new points and battalions. The list is 8 banshees and 4 banshees and a knight of shroud on foot instead of on steed. I was on autopilot with the unit of 12 banshees and command trait so sorry about that

Yeah, I can see us at top tier. Or rather, I think our warscrolls and summoning are top tier; if we lost out other allegiance abilities and artefacts, but kept everything else, we'd be in a similar (though obviously weaker) position to where we are now. Obviously we'd be worse (I'd miss the command traits a lot), but I think we can win comfortably on our warscrolls and summoning alone.

I don't think we even need summoning that much. The last tourney I was in I only summoned 10 daemonettes and an infernal enraptureness in all of the 5 games. Too much damage was dealt on the first 3 turns whilst being in scoring positions that is was already over. If I had a got a double turn once it would of been even more painful. I seriously inestimated how much damage fiends can do with +1 attack

  9. 10 hours ago, Enoby said:

Any reason in particular? Just their nasty dispelling ability?

I have a feeling we will, if we keep our warscroll more or less in tact. We place really well in tournaments for a none battletome army despite our allegiance abilities (besides summoning) be a bit naff, so if we just get stuff added to us, we could well become a top tier army.

Different feelings on this I believe we are a top tier army already. We have enough tools in the box to play any lists we come across. Our only real weakness is lack of decent casters but with slaves there are still decent options there even for that

Slaanesh player Mike Wilson just took first place at the Justice Series grand tournament in Liverpool. In all 5 of his major wins he tabled his opponents which included 2 Daughters of Khaine and 1 Flesh Eater Courts lists.

Here is the list he used: https://tabletop.to/justice-series-grand-tournament/list/michael-wilson

Here is the interview with him after the tournament:

Cheers for putting this up about me rambling about my list, hope it gives some of you guys ideas.

I think daemonettes are fine as they are power wise (while killy as hell, they do die in droves and are kind of slow compared to the rest of our army), but they could move up into witch aelve territory with a book if there were spells/battilions to buff them (god help other factions if we get anything close to witch brew or mindrazor). But yeah, I would like to see more variety as well - it's not that our stuff is bad, in fact we actually have a very good selection, it's more that our stuff has to compete against daemonettes. I don't want to see a daemonette nerf, but rather have advantages (maybe in the form of battilions or specific command abilities) for using our other stuff, and no specific advantages for using daemonettes.  For examples off the top of my head, maybe a command ability that gave seekers the fly rule, or one that made the minimum damage of the fiend's tail d3 rather than 1, or run and charge to units with 10"+ move. I'm just spitballing ideas here, but I don't think daemonettes need the nerf (yet) as they're not too strong, but rather our other stuff needs a clearer niche and a way to excel at that niche.

Weirdly enough I think daemonettes are better than witch elves especially in their new format. I rate them as one of the best battleline units due to the sheer damage out put they can put out.

    Good luck :)

Is there any particular winning strategy you use in competitive games? Looking at some of your match pictures, screening with seekers seems to be common, but I'm wondering about other tricks you tend to pull during gameplay.

Charging seekers around in lines to make people pile in ways they don't want to is very useful. Also piling around an exalted to protect it from being charged is also possible.

Seekers aren't a brilliant combat threat but decent enough. It's their manoevability to make people react to them which is a huge plus. As you noticed they are also good chaff which protects nearly the whole army if needed against alpha strike list.

  13. So masters this weekend and this is the list I will be taking.

exalted with dimensional blade and invigorated by pain

    Herald on exalted seeker chariot

    chaos Sorceror Lord on manticore

    chaos Sorceror lord

    2x 30 daemonettes

    2x 5 helstriders

    10 seekers

    for 1940 pts.

i have been experimenting with a unit of 6 fiends  and the masque which replaced the seekers and the chariot but the list just didn’t feel balanced enough and losing the command point was tough to take. Don’t get me wrong 6 fiends are a really good unit but they  just don’t quite fit into the list in a way I like. Plus I’ve played 100+ games with this list and haven’t changed it in AoS 2.

Also payed at the painting masters and managed to go 4-1 there which was a good warm up and a cracking event which is something to aim for next year as well.

so let’s see just had good the slaanesh are in an ultra competitive environment.

Hey Tzeentchmike, I’m going to a tournament this weekend with a mortal Slaanesh Army.   I’m trying to run basically a mortal version of your list with a couple blocks chaos warriors/chosen with great weapons instead of the Daemonettes.  I wanted to know if in your opinion it is possible to generate enough depravity to summon on the exalted keeper or is it absolutely neccessary to have her on the board to smash in first turn? Thanks!

It's is possible but most of the time all my depravity is being generated by the big girl herself. That said 42 pts is normally best used on other things like more daemonettes as they help you win the scenario better. Also remember That the keeper won't have an artefact or command trait when you summon her and that reduces her effectiveness quite a bit.

Your list does sound interesting would like to see how the chaos warriors get on

Have you bothered with the battalion? I still can't figure out whether I like it or not.

I haven't as I've always ran seekers it suits me the best. The battalion is very short range and quite defensive so don't rate it too highly

  16. Just now, Enoby said:

Yeah, I think their damage is much scarier on paper. That said, they have proven their worth as a tar pit that hurts. I have only played them in a unit of 3 (my others aren't built or painted yet); have you tried them in larger units? If so, how were they?

Ran them in a unit of 6 which were really good they take down the fighting eels so quickly even after the mortal wounds done to them

How have you guys found our new stuff, especially the fiends? I have found them very good, but haven't had the chance for many games.

Fiends are very good but the -1 rend is an issue as they are very swingy against tough targets but have the potential to be amazing.

I've been impressed with the enraptureness but I think 120 is too much. As a summoning piece though she is really good if you don't need the numbers for more daemonettes.  I think daemonettes are the best attacking battline in the game near just so consistent even against-1 to hit

Question for ya'll. I played a game yesterday where because of a double turn, i absolutely crushed his army turn 2, where he conceded and said he had no fun playing the game.

    For reference, my list was

    Seeker Host

    Keeper, -3 rend claws, +1hit/cast

    Chaos Sorc

    2 Enrapturesses

    2x30 daemonettes

    2x5 hellstriders

    6 fiends

3 tzaangor enlightened (which didn't even do a whole lot)

    and Chromantic Cogs

    He brought

    2x10 blood warriors

    20 blood reavers

    20 marauders

    2 slaughter priests

    Bloodsecrator

    Lord on juggernaught

    Slaughterbrute

    Chaos Warshrine

    1 Chaos Spawn

He wins turn 1 cause he brought gore pilgrims. He runs his entire army back. He runs his Chaos spawn up. I have to charge it, and I do, moving as little as needed to complete the charge. I double turn him, get cogs off, and my entire army engages him. My fiends and keeper destroy blood reavers, daemonettes kill maruaders, and while his slaughterbrute does some damage to my daemonettes, they do a fair bit of damage back to it.

He says he is willing to play it out, but he feels that I have just stomped him and he is having zero fun. I feel bad for this, and I don't want to lose opponents if they feel they don't have a chance. Is there any way to start powering down my list?

Looking at it his list is nowhere near as good as yours from a competitive view. Also he seems to of played it wrong as he should be letting you go first as he can't attack you at all in his first turn. The one way to take your lost down easily is to take out the exalted, some armies can't deal with it and that khorne list will certainly struggle.

  19. 9 minutes ago, MeSmashDaNoobs said:

It seems to fill the gaps but few questions comes to mind.

Exalted chariot - just for the depravity points?

2 sorcerers but no endless spells?

What armies have you tested this list against?

Mortal wounds on the charge against horde units is useful and another high wound hero

Both sorceror have good natural spells plus whatever realm they are in. Also 2 or 3 scenarios require wizards to score or are worth 20 models.

Played over 100 games with it so tested against a lot of people and armies best look at my Twitter for exact ones as I generally post a photo of the armies pre game

I have a few questions regarding Slaanesh that i would love to get some feedback on.

1: The Choir of Torments - Is there a points cost for this battalion and is it legal in matched play?

2: I've seen people writing that the Enrapturess costs 120 points, but can't find it?

3: Experienced players feedback and if you want to put in the time, i would like to get a "competetive" list for 2000 points. Main reason is to get an idea around the army and build from there.

4: Chaos allies, anything in particular you think fits for Slaanesh?

Hi there for 2000 pts this is what I have been running.

exalted keeper dimensional blade and invigorated by pain

    chaos Sorceror Lord on manticore

    chaos sorceror lord

    herald on exalted chariot

    2x 30 daemonettes

    2x 5 helstriders

    10 x seekers

in the seeker hosts comes to 1940. I like it everything has got a place and a role and you summon what you need to fill the gaps. It doesn’t contain any of the new models though which are both good for their costs, fiends especially .

I'd be keen on some advice too, as I've a doubles tournament in a few weeks, and I'm stuck in analysis paralysis about heroes.

It's 1k per teammate, and mine is taking a pretty grim Tzeentch mortal wound spam castle list so I don't have to worry about our backfield. 🤣

    My two main ideas so far;

    Seekers Host

    Keeper of Secrets 270
-General, Devotee of Torment, Thermal-rider Cloak

Infernal Enrapturess 120 (sits in the Daemonettes; locus+summoning node)

    30 Daemonettes 270
    -Full Command

5 Hellstriders 100 (babysits the keeper)
    -Hellscourges, Full Command

2x5 Seekers 240 (I want these to charge to block movement and tie up artillery, so no downside 😅)

    1000pts

    Or;

    Pretenders Host

    Exalted Chariot, 160 (toolkit tank)
-General, Allure of Slaanesh, Invigorated by Pain
    -Dimensional Blade (whip)

Daemon Princess 160 (support unit hunting)

The Masque 80 (hangs out with the Daemonettes for locus & area control)

    Herald 60 (hides...)

    30 Daemonettes 270
    -Full Command

    5 Hellstriders 100
    -Hellscourges, Full Command

    1x5 Seekers 120
    -Full Command

    950pts

+1CP, nothing to use it on. 😑

I like the first list there as it covers a lot of ground quickly, the one change I would suggest is drop the enraptureness for 2x heralds so you have 3 characters to summon off and maybe one on a steed to keep up with the cavalry. Also I believe the keeper is only 260pts now.

Best of luck Mike! What have you thought of so far?

In other news, the AoS Discord I'm a part of for Reddit had a dude ask me what his friend could do to be a better Slaanesh player. I saw a picture of their deployment, and it was less than ideal. Fiends in the middle with a gorebeast chariot. they get picked apart by judicators. I was all like "whoa whoa whoa... what's even going on here". It also didn't help his opponent played 1k of sacrosanct stormcast.

Thanks too many lists to list at the moment. That's weird that deployment settled it we are normally quick off the blocks so very forgiven in deployment unless there is an alpha strike
