  1. More bits!

First there's the Gargant all finished up. Since we know that the Sons of Behemet are coming soon I'm holding off on the base for now incase there's a base size change.

    Polish_20200806_211151267.jpg.ce8bfa0a4310aa1ae80fd28725b3e0e0.jpgPolish_20200806_211212087.jpg.6ee43b7c62262f19b2c62e2e32ef055f.jpgPolish_20200806_211231923.jpg.4f91ef0c68fcda641e05745fba2f5b5e.jpg

I've also been working on my little army of Ironjawz to add to my initial 5 man brute squad. So far I have a Maw Crusha, Megaboss, 10 ardboyz and a Weirdnob painted up or P.I.P.

Also started work on a 2nd weirdnob shaman Polish_20200806_210950252.jpg.6ca924d64fc7575943a6f7e708fed85a.jpgPolish_20200806_211044476.jpg.16286a92ee8117c0defbab9945535815.jpgPolish_20200806_211124984.jpg.49aa552fd192c0b9ccc78926b139058e.jpg

  2. Ggggargant! Finally slapped some paint on this guy. I'm going for a greener skin for this one and the next step is attempting to texture the skin in an effort to represent age (wrinkles etc.) I'm hoping he'll be finished in the next few days.Polish_20200723_175301713.jpg.ea7b9893f29f7be7e539606dc921b828.jpgPolish_20200723_175326365.jpg.4cd756eba713f55f265c968fb569abce.jpg

I had an idea for a gloomspite gitz army from the realm of Hysh that used lots of creams for their robes in mockery of the Lumineth Realmlords. This is also the first time that  I've used heavy weathering  on a model and really like the effect it gives to the cloth and metals. Polish_20200724_170434568.jpg.aec1d9847787496998984bf8a060b1ff.jpgPolish_20200724_170507467.jpg.270a09621c9aa313fccf291ae30e678d.jpgPolish_20200724_170536774.jpg.279259109fd88ea7774c32d7a42ef40c.jpgPolish_20200724_170608792.jpg.2c2111b742968fc506c0438c8d69a06a.jpg

  3. Got some greenstuffing done on another gargant and Huskard on Thundertusk. Both of these models have a very 'old dude' vibe. The gargant isn't a new idea, but it's one I've always liked and I'm quite happy with how he's turned out.

    Polish_20200706_103705985.jpg.939f6d50f906c5bcae5d59f5a2ada2e5.jpgPolish_20200706_103748590.jpg.51347d698d0a79e9607d1259ebb9c93f.jpgPolish_20200706_103820565.jpg.3b28e7caea70f08ff8ecfbff1e00742c.jpgPolish_20200706_103842851.jpg.d4462e9f101f4fac23bd65c61a9c0185.jpg

The Huskard is a refinement of the idea I started with my original Huskard on Thundertusk who was very shamanic. In my mind, this guy is the leader of the Torr, and the first is his apprentice or something. I wanted to give the impression that he's so old, fat and frail that he can no longer even get off of his mount, instead performing his duties from the back of the Thundertusk. The tusks are from the Ironblaster kit as is the platform and supports.

In all honesty you wouldn’t need to put a saddle or reins on the boar.  Many equine traditions didn’t use leads or stirrups to guide the horse but rather trained them to respond to pressure from the riders’ legs or certain verbal commands.  Savage Boar riders were designed with this in mind and the same could certainly be said of humans doing the same thing.

You're right, there is certainly a historic precedent and it will look cool and fit the theme much better!

  5. I had a bit of a dip in productivity as I waited for orders to arrive for my cities of destruction force which I'm currently referring to as Ghurite Wyldwalkers; which seems fairly catchy. The truthsayer is finished up and so is a wizard on Griffon. Alongside these I've got a unit of greatswords, 2 more wizards, some pistoliers and a unit of freeguild guard with spears. These are mostly wip shots while I wait for greenstuff and rattle cans. Let me know what you think.

    Truthsayer:Polish_20200612_120858989.jpg.4f1d956cb6c1148a8836aeabcaf57dc6.jpgPolish_20200612_120946006.jpg.8c8b857f7c3ada657814d194d337267e.jpg

    Battlemage on Griffon:Polish_20200612_120637444.jpg.4fbac5be600fa5658029baa6fc430492.jpgPolish_20200612_120806289.jpg.ee4b8b8eb49cc862349efa2865dc58a2.jpg

Battlemage 1. Primarily built from the godsworn hunt leader,  with a little bloodbowl wood elves and sisters of the thorn:Polish_20200612_121420032.jpg.9c04af1d70b241022cbcf91861dbb94b.jpg

Battlemage 2. This one uses parts from the old ghur battlemage with godsworn hunt legs and untamed beast torso:Polish_20200612_121256089.jpg.573f581a2301d854857cc4ba80a8088c.jpgPolish_20200612_121317979.jpg.8fb6f8fc9e0ee14d6751dca83f2b5d30.jpg

A pair of greatswords. These are all built using the untamed beasts and marauder horseman kits:Polish_20200612_121112334.jpg.759f4f6d416c0bd0417d4eba92934711.jpgPolish_20200612_121148975.jpg.3febe12baf5966406c5b460c2eca31ca.jpg

Sergeant of the spear unit. The rest of this unit is built from the untamed beasts plainsrunners and ungor weapons. I wanted the unit leader to have a bit more bulk to stand out:Polish_20200612_121224634.jpg.d23263a596a75a5787c42930d4bd8d52.jpg

Lastly, the first of my pistoliers. I still need to greenstuff saddles for these guys and maybe some reins...:Polish_20200612_121029296.jpg.aea643e4e18078e47006dd9c54907165.jpg

  6. Gnoblars! And other things...

I'm currently working on 10 Bonesplitterz Moarboyz but don't have any pictures of them currently. For now I've got some wips of the gnoblars from Hrothgorns Mantrappers and a few other bits. To differentiate them from my regular grots I went for a blue/grey skin tone as if they have adapted to life close to the everwinter, plus the idea of those beady red eyes staring at you from within a blizzard sounds quite terrifying! They need some touch ups and I need to paint the ice effect on the club. I also need to apply snow, but I'll finish everything else first and do it all in a big batch.

    Polish_20200506_185831002.jpg.ac1c931bd89cfe987aa18a3d6948fdea.jpgPolish_20200506_185903693.jpg.bffec4035f925fd738217bebf130e1f0.jpgPolish_20200506_185952928.jpg.1a69d92fa43b49dc9a4789a8d907ed69.jpgPolish_20200506_190017801.jpg.523194ca8b061970c56b6017e49169c7.jpg

Some progress on my human destruction idea. If I progress these guys into an army I'll probably use them as cities of sigmar but for now I'm happy to see where this goes. Still quite WIP I'm also quite pleased with how the bases have turned out and on the next few I'll try to add some more foliage and plants for variety. Polish_20200506_190045710.jpg.cb3782d1aea6960b5d91c9cd6d3fb8a8.jpgPolish_20200506_190120838.jpg.c88181da4968546ab3d2567853287c25.jpgPolish_20200506_190206552.jpg.30c4598b6c202381832a0d6f42219261.jpg

Lastly, after a little digging in a box under my sofa I found these two! These models are some of my favourite sculpts and I'm looking forward to painting them up. I think I'll use the Dark Emissary as a Fungoid Cave Shaman as he ties in visually with the Fimir. Not sure if I'll use the Truthsayer for anything, but he'll be fun to paint up regardless.

  7. Managed to get a lot painted this week. Starting with ,my repainted and rebased Fimir to match my Giant. I need to finish the Nobles cape as it is currently just basecoated and probably some touch ups that I'll notice once I post this!

I also managed to finish up my Orruk brutes. I had a lot of fun painting these and will probably add to this force in the future.

Finally I've been working on some Destruction themed humans as a bit of a thought experiment. The one at the back has a wild rider head and the one on the right has a blood bowl wood elf head. Let me know what you think.

Thanks! I'm really pleased with the scheme and can't wait to see how it looks on the larger guys.

In other news I've completed a test model for some ironjawz. Let me know what you think.

The Causeway idea is brilliant and also matches the Ghurish hexes that appear in the Underworlds lair set - how did you make them/how easy where they to make? Assuming that you are alright with people being inspired

Thanks! They actually are the beastgrave lair set. I've got a few that are whole but I've cut up one or two to use as extra pillars.

It's more than ok mate!! And that is a beautiful colour scheme and the base? Giants Causeway is such a ****** perfect basing idea mate and it looks incredible!!

Thanks for the kind words! I can't wait to see what the scheme looks like on the bigger giants.

  10. Hey everyone,

Hope it's  okay to post pictures of our Gargant in this thread? This is a test scheme for my Sons of Behemat force. I'm going for a firbolg/fomorians vibe and basing to look like the Giant's Causeway. I'd love to hear what you all think!DSC_0096.JPG.1cc349b5d496e8f21fe888678b728b63.JPGDSC_0097.JPG.3a63939bf7496574e65d1a910e27d7ab.JPGDSC_0100.JPG.d4cfbb438fb7d8bcda9d5def1c9889d5.JPG

  11. Hey everyone,

So a while ago I set up a blog on here to log my progress with my Beastclaw Raiders. With that army largely finished I've been on and off with some warcry and some 40k but with the sweet new Sons of Behemat model previews I've decided to jump back on the destruction train for starters, here are some pictures of my Aleguzzler gargant with a giants causeway themed base. I need to do a few highlights on the banners and shields, maybe I'll try some freehand.

I've also got some more Mawtribes, Warclans, Rippa's Snarlfangs and even some Fimir on the way.

Let me know what you think!

  12. So it looks like I've neglected this hobby log for some time! Although I have still been working away on my Beastclaw Raiders and some Gutbusters allies/army of their own. Anyway, here's a big dump of pictures of the things I've been working on for the last year, just in time for the new Mawtribes battletome.

  13. Big update on quite a few things. Firstly, I've got the Centigors sprayed and ready to paint. I'm really happy with how these have turned out, hoping that the paint scheme doesn't ruin them 😅
    DSC_0112.JPG.9ca71d0b0ebfa744dad9a289e1ead76a.JPGDSC_0113.JPG.9d486bc50813949581e89715d2ffc555.JPGDSC_0114.JPG.f0fc572c15cbb820b57feae1d01dbe65.JPG

Secondly I was looking at the Marauders and it occured to me that, whilst the spears looked good, they didn't look like javelins. I remembered that there were javelins in the Sisters of the Thorn box that I had already used for the Centigors. I'm much happier with how they look now and their weapons are similar to the spears of the Centigors so it ties the force together better. Not sure what I'll put on the banner yet, any suggestions?

Finally, I've been working on a Spawn/Doombull/not really sure but thought that it looked pretty neat.

I like the idea of centaurus hellstrider! Besides looking cool, it seems also quite convenient for movement.

Thanks! I'm a bit stuck for what to do for Helstriders though as I've used all of the parts of the riders on other models :D I tried the wild riders but they didn't fit well on the mounts. I'm thinking maybe the snake bodies from DoK or using Seeker legs with Wild Rider torsos. I'll have to experiment...

  15. Hi folks,

I'm back, slightly late, for the new battletome but have been making good progress on a mixed force of deamons, mortals and beastmen. I've decided to start a new blog to document my progress as the last one ran in a different direction to where this army is currently and my plans going forward.

The force as it stands consists of:
    Deamons -
    60 Deamonettes (unpainted)
    1 Infernal Enrapturess (unpainted)
1 Keeper of Secrets - Creature Caster (unpainted)
    20 Seekers (unpainted)
    2 Bladebringers/Chariots (unpainted - notice a theme?)
    3 Fiends (unpainted)
    1 Fane of Slaanesh (unpainted)
1 Viceleader? (painted! - needs rebasing)
    10 Helstriders (unbuilt, reasons below)

    Mortals -
1 Chaos Lord on Mount (PiP, pictures below)
5 Chaos Warriors (painted, waiting on weapons)
5 Marauder Horsemen with Javelins (painted)

    Beatmen -
    10 Centigors (5 built, 1 painted, 5 unbuilt)
    1 Great Bray Shaman (unpainted)
    1 Doombull (unbuilt)

As you can see, it's quite the backlog! I'm currently in the process of finalising colour schemes and  putting everything together.

    Anyway, enough rambling, pictures!

Firstly, the Centigors which started the revamp:
    IMG_20190417_135350_299.jpg.03c7a9f241bc2841333059b92d947c19.jpg

I used the torso's from the Helstrider kit with the mounts from the Wild Riders with a little bit of Milliput to smooth out the join.
    IMG_20190418_111131_578.jpg.68c6f0da81a8c828cf273f0a494e25bf.jpg

Going for a fairly simple colour scheme with these guys, I'm thinking of adding patterning to their bodies once I'm a little more confident in getting the scheme down.

Then came the warriors, using a mix of Kairic Acolytes and Helstrider parts:

The aim for this unit was to experiment with skin tones to create some variation in the force. I've tried to match the colour scheme with the rubble on the base, (the blues more blue, reds more pink etc.)

I've decided that this will be a cavalry heavy mortal force (at least initially) but I thought that the marauders didn't really fit the aesthetic. After looking around I settled on the Warlocks from the DoK range. Just a head swap and hand change to the spear from the dark riders from the same box.

Finally here's the Lord and Mount. The lord is a chimera of bits. Head and right shoulder are from the Helstriders, torso is Kairic Acolytes, shield is from Sigvald and the weapon and legs are from the Slaanesh Lord on Mount.

The mount is pretty much finished, just needing a last few highlights. The lord is in the background of the shot and should hopefully be finished by tomorrow.

Fantastic stuff! Great conversions, the additions to the models look superb.

Thanks! I really love the amount of conversion that you can do with these guys. I've seen a few people have converted the scraplaunchers into Butchers with cauldrons, which is definitely something that I plan on adding to these guys.

Hopefully I'll have the 3 other Mournfangs painted up by the end of the weekend, then it's on to the stonehorn!
