  1. I don't think that Tyrion is going to be a part of this army. I'm starting to think that he will end up leading his own faction of "Angelic Aelves" that were alluded to earlier in the lore.

Besides we now that each of the big 4 get a share of the Aelves from Slaanesh, Morathi gets her daughters, Malerion his darkly majestic shadows Aelves, Tyrion His Angelic Aelves, And Teclis his attempts to recreate the high Aelves.

The Idoneth were made from the first batch of Aelves saved from Slaanesh, but no where does it say that those were all the souls that Teclis was due. He tried to make the Idoneth in the image of the old world elves, but we know he failed.  From this article, emphasizing that the idoneth werent the only aelves Teclis created, its seems that these are distinct from the influence of Tyrion (he has his own elf souls to play with).

Furthermore, The initial trailer kept going on about a longing for the elves of the old world, the classic pointy aelves, and that seems to fit more along the lines of Teclis trying to recreate world-that-was elves, than Tyrion's angelic Aelves.

To wrap up, I think it is likely that Tyrion will have his own faction of Aelves, and these will be solely Teclis attempt to try again at what he failed to create with the Idoneth.

  2. Well, from the Daughters of khaine, Idoneth and Slaanesh Books, we know that Morathi, Malerion, Tyrion and Teclis each get a share of the aelf souls to remake as they see fit.

Focusing on the latter pair, it seems likely to me that while Teclis' first batch of Aelves became Idoneth, the rest of his "share" are becoming the pointy aelves being previewed.

I feel like Tyrion will not be in this faction at all, save for a few mentions, and he will get his own faction of aelves down the road.

Honestly It seems like Teclis' faction will be a straight up re-imagining of old world High elves, while Tyrion when his time comes will get the "angelic Aelves" that were alluded to in older material. As I just don't see pointy aelves and angelic aelves combined into the same faction.

  3. I really love the look of the models and the potential for the lore, but is anyone else disappointed by the name?

ossiarch has its roots in the word ossify and the Latin word  ‘os’ meaning bone. So their faction name is basically ‘Boney Bonereapers’

Would have been so much happier with Ossiarch legions, or simply the bone tithe instead.

WHF is a bad comparison since at its conclusion all Elfes were eaten, so I doubt they‘re too keen on reliving that?

Am I the only one who thinks the direction of Faction Terrain has become ridiculous? BoK carry a massive shrine, dwarfs a entire forge. And what will aelfes do Next? Will they carry a massive white ivory tower? Or an entire castle, since the scenery doesn’t not have to make any sense being on every battlefield it seems..?

    Maybe they miss it?

In the Idoneth Deepkin battletome, they mention that despite the purifying spells that teclis wove, some deepkin devolve into what they call "Mallachi" a state of raging madness that apparently ends in "savage debauchery"

The battletome says that among the idoneth this state is rare,  but I see no reason why some elves wouldn't miss the presence of slaanesh.

Means you dont pick the spell, you must take that spell.

That's not what he is asking.

he's asking if wizards other than the tidecaster have to take it to, or if they can choose a different one.

In answer to that question, Eidolons are not tidecasters, or have the tidecaster keyword so they are unaffected by that rule, they can choose any spell from the lore of the Deeps. Additionally, Eidolons do dot get the Enclave specific spell either.

Do we? Why? How? When did GW announce that? Because they’re the only people who will be making them and they haven’t announced they intend to yet have they?

You *dont know.* You don’t. You’re guessing. Informed guesses, absolutely. But you don’t know if every race is getting Endless a Spells, you don’t know if every Battletome is getting a redux. You think they are, you’ve given your reasons, there’s certain patterns etc. That’s not the same as knowing something.

How many rumour engines have featured an explicit reference to the race in question and turned out to be for that race rather than a red herring?

Lots of people guess on here about stuff. It’s kind of the point. You’ll notice that at no point have I taken issue with anyone else for guessing literally anything regardless of how crazy it is.

But people *repeatedly* saying they know things when they don’t and doubling down on it when I point out that they’re making informed guesses and they say no, it’s definitely this, it’s 100% this, well I’m going to push back on that.

But you're not pointing out and saying they are just informed guesses. You litteraly called them baseless speculation.

And yes we do know that Idoneth will get endless spells.

Every AOS 2.0 army has gotten endless spells, including Khorne now, the army that doesn't even use spells.

But saying it's baseless speculation that Idoneth will get endless spells, is willful ignorance at best.

You haven’t discussed it. You've said you 100% know that it is Idoneth, which you don’t.

Then people have taken these assertions as a platform to ask why it is that a thing that is complete speculation - Idoneth ES- means there would also be another entirely speculative thing which you have yourself asserted might well be the case-a Battletome- to accompany the thing you have completely speculated will be released with 100% certainty.

Please note I’ve at no point told anyone what they can or can’t say.  I will continue to demonstrate how utterly speculative it is though when people do state with utter conviction something founded entirely on speculation , to try and provide some balance in reality for people trying to determine between rumours and stuff people are either saying they know with certainty they know will happen without evidence for it, or just hope might happen on the basis of utter speculation.

Unless of course I’m not entitled to my opinion for some reason

    Wow Okay.

    This isn't baseless speculation.

We know that Idoneth will get Endless spells.  We don't know when, but considering the breakneck speed of new battltomes this year, and new versions of AOS 1.0 battletombes, it seems likely in the next year and a half.

And we know  that that the rumor engine picture included details that match up 100% with current and unique idoneth sculpts, (the vase and chest). These aren't generic details, they match current Idoneth  bits perfectly.

It is entirely possible that the rumor engine pic belongs to a non-idoneth model, (like another races treasure hoard, which includes stolen idoneth stuff) , but linking it to any other faction is pure speculation, which is also fine.  Gold coins are generic, but the chest and vases are uniquely Idoneth, and so they are the only known faction linked to that rumor engine preview by more than speculation.

But considering that we know Aos 1.0 battletomes are getting updates and endless spells, and considering that we have now seen rumor images showing as yet unreleased miniatures bearing distinctive idoneth design, it seems convincing that the two are related.

You can say the faction doesn't need anything new, and decry it as mere speculation, but then everything in this thread is speculation, and this at least is well grounded speculation, based on observation of current trends, and miniature previews.

This was exactly my theory.  The IK summon some of that useless (to them) treasure they have lying around, and use it to lure unsuspecting enemies.  Sort of a movement control spell - working similar to those deep sea fish that have the little bioluminescent light on the end of a tentacle, to lure in prey.

I like this theory a lot, but part of me hopes it could be a new piece of Etheric vortex terrain for Idoneth.

It's a unique mechanic that Idoneth have a choice over the type of terrain feature they can bring, but obviously there is only one option released so far. When Idoneth get the AOS 2.0 battletome with endless spells, my hope is that it is accompanied by a new Etheric Vortex terrain pieces to supplement the gloomtide shipwreck.

Spectral sunken treasure could work for either.

  9. The vases in the treasure  image sure look like Idoneth Deepkin vases from the Akhelian kits, and on the base of the Eidolon.

I have no clue what it would be for them, since Idoneth don't care about treasure that is not souls. Maybe a treasure hoard for another races release?

  10. @Reezark_SPUnfortunately the Ishlaen Guard only get a 3+ save when they charge, and charging units cannot benefit from cover, so they can't get a 2+ save from the turtle's cover aura.

As for the FAQ , I like the change, as it gives me more options

for creativity on placement for the gloomtide. As it was before,  it was too good/easy to just allways put them where the objectives were. I doubt it was fun for my opponents but with this new change, it should add more variation to my games which can only make them more enjoyable.
