Converting nets is pretty easy. I did mine with cut up window screen, but gauze can work too.

That's a pretty good idea actually.

I was thinking of cutting out negative space in some thin plasticard to leave a spiderweb shape, which I could then form into nets, but I might start looking at some other materials.

So serious question, what aspects of Gloomspite are we each looking to get first? Personally I'm going for a troggoth army which might include some Grots just to bulk the numbers up. I've wanted to get a hag for ages because her warscroll is so solid and this is a perfect oppotunity to do so!

I'm currently sitting on 4 Arachnaroks, 50 spider riders, 2 big bosses on giant spiders and 130 grot scuttlings, so I think I should be good for the Spiderfang short of any new releases.

I've been purchasing some OOP night goblin stuff since I heard rumblings early last year of a Moonclan release, so I'll just be buying straight Moonclan.

    Oh and Troggoths.

... and maybe more spiders... need more nightmare fuel to torment the missus with.

    130...

    Phew...

     How...(although I'm scared to ask)?

There was a guy on eBay who obviously broke down a ton of Silver Tower boxes for bits selling. They were surprisingly cheap, as in I was getting 24 grots for less than the cost of a retail box of 20 grots.

The only downside is depending on the new codex I'm going to have to convert up some netters (which I'm intending on making spiderweb nets somehow, I just haven't figured that bit out yet)

I regret clamoring for the combining of armies into "Legions", because I thought Spiderfang and Moonclan both had enough going for them to be their own factions.

Yeah, but on the other hand I have over 130 Grot Scuttlings out of Silver Tower, so I'm pretty excited right about now that my spiderfang army can have some themed infantry.

Considering the art of the army marching featuring moonclan, troggoths, and spiders, I imagine they will be rolled in together. Personally perfect for me, my arachnarok has never seen the table!

at 1:50 in the trailer, you clearly see Spider Riders coming out of a cave.

I'm not getting my hopes up... JK they're all the way up to 11.

  6. He's a Troll, so regeneration would be key.

I'd be betting 6 wounds and something like regaining X wounds at the start of a round for every hammer he rolls, throwing X dice.. possibly in the vicinity of 4 dice.

That means he can be killed in a single round if focussed, but also has the potential to be around for awhile.

I think Slaanesh is the next reslease, not Moonclan.

I'm in this boat too. They've teased Slaanesh stuff so far, the only Moonclan related stuff they've shown off in Nightvault.

I'd be betting we'll see Slaanesh either late this year or early next year, with Moonclan being either a midyear release, or a late year released boxed set along with Stormcast similar to a Blight War boxed set (I've got absolutely nothing to base this on, except that it appears they were a little surprised at the hugely positive reception of nightvault moonclan stuff, so perhaps can capitalise on that by selling more AoS models)

The Blood Coven has been removed for several months now, its still around in the distribution network though and quite a few 3rd party stores have still held stock for a good long time and got refills. So not only were they still around but they were selling pretty well too.

This happened for a lot of those price point boxes a couple months back.

For Destruction, we lost the Weirdnob Warband and Spiderfang Venom Clan boxes (at least the ones I can remember). I also saw some of the other boxes disappear, but their names do not come to mind.

  9. As a destruction player, this thing doesn't really bother me too much.

I'm thinking in Moonclan, just tie it up with fanatics that charge it during his turn and cap objectives.

For my Spiderfang, mortal wounds will drop it fairly quickly. I can also keep it locked in combat with some snotling bases or some grots on foot.

For a 1200 point model, it's going to be wanting to kill 240 points of units every turn (assuming 5 game turns) to make its points back, so I think if you don't engage it with multiple units at a time that cost more than that, you're doing fine. It's a big points sink.

    Brilliant model though!

I ordered mine via the website because I knew I wouldn't get into a store this weekend, so I'm still waiting for them to arrive.

You're going to be pleasantly surprised. I put mine together on Saturday and the sculpts are gorgeous - they're so dynamic for push fit models.. bring on the Moonclan release (or don't, it might be hard to explain why there are suddenly 2 dozen new boxes of minis suddenly on my hobby table)

  11. Going down that Underworlds rabbit hole, I noticed that the "fairy" that Zarbag is holding is named a spite and there is a specific card that shows off spites being a 4 winged insect type thing.

So some of the insectoid things we've been seeing (the thing with larvae coming out of its armpits) could be related to that.

  12. I actually think the Horror -> Brimstone mechanic will be very useful for tying up enemy activations/actions without giving up too much glory (it appears that you don't lose the glory when the Brimstone is put on the board). So against super killy teams, they'll have to utilise a minimum of 2 actions to get a glory, which has the potential to be really good.

If Spiderfang where to get a Battle tome I think we would have to see a plastic Big boss.

I would actually like to see a theoretical plastic giant spider kit come with a posable giant spider and several options - say a character, a spear chukka type weapon or a couple of dudes on back and make it sort of a heavy cavalry model and make the spider riders sort of light cav.

Perhaps someone smarter than me could figure out how to make the torso's the same for the models and make the arm/head swaps and spear chukka the only real big customisation options. I am in no way qualified to figure this out.

However I think they should be included because they don't have the range of warscrolls to be a proper army in their own right

While this is true now, there is potentially room to change that in the same vein as what happened with Nighthaunt. One of the things Spiderfang have going for it is that it's a visually interesting aesthetic and the kits are passable as is (even the spider riders). They would be nice to get an upgrade, but its not needed really.

Armies don't typically need a deep number of Warscrolls to be interesting. Look at Idoneth Deepkin, they have a limited number of Warscrolls but the customisation comes in other forms. The same treatment could be given to  spiderfang  since they already have 5 warscrolls. They could beef up the damage of the Artillery configuration and bump up the points of it, similarly they could drop the points of the unequipped Spider and there would be some actual choice in there rather than shamans being the default choice. There is even the potential to making the big boss into 2 warscrolls so 1 is more combat oriented and the other being more support and using the same model.

As for what type of units? Well just off the top of my head, they can do swarm bases, infantry in the form of forest goblins, herder type models with midsize spiders, additional types of artillery (I'm thinking spear chukka type weapons mounted on midsize spiders). They could get away with doing that with only 2 kits (the swarm bases could be included in the infantry boxes in the same way that necrons get scarabs).

Plus, there are also plenty of additional things that could be done to push out a release. They could be given their own spell lore (which would be cool), perhaps some sort of marker system where you place X markers before the game starts and that simulates webs being deployed that potentially slows movement in that area and I think that is a good enough starting point for an interesting list. They can also potentially run different types of clans that utilise different spider breeds.

Anyway, thats just a stupid rant, but I think there is some potential there for a more elite style goblin force.

  15. I'm thinking you will be wanting to split your warband into 2 subbands, with the netter/squigs/herder running together to form a defensive line, the 3 archers and shaman being a ranged component and the fanatic to really just disrupt the field.

With the low damage on their cards, I fully expect these guys to play somewhat defensively, perhaps leaning more towards objective play/denial tactics while trying to minimise giving up too much glory.

I am hoping the cards that come out have a lot more random insanity to them.. I would love to see cards that are just devastating and with chances to completely backfire and then having the warband rely on their numbers to see them through.

That helm is really interesting, a sort of dragon?

The shape of it? I think its a fully covered face mask.

The sides seem to close up around the front to enclose the face. The shape of the sides are to compensate for the grot noses.

The shape of the helmet seems to be moon shaped.

It can be just a upgrade card under this fighter, not a spell (we don't see a symbol and there should be upgrade in Nightvault aswell). Spell that was shown to us is on board (next to two new dices), not under fighter. So it looks more like playing a ploy. I think spells as upgrades could be to strong.

The spells have a different icon, it looks like a Trivial Pursuit game piece with 1 pie piece in. You can see it at 15 seconds in the reveal trailer

As for how it works, I don't know. I expect it to work like a ploy as it would be strong as an upgrade... perhaps it gets shuffled back into the deck once its attempted?

Endless Reinforcements* = an effing cool allegiance ability = more players = is a happy fanbase & more money for GW.

It might not be an armywide ability. If anything, I'd expect something like this to be a batallion like what happens with Ironjawz

Its undeniably Chaos, but what faction/Universe?

It looks like a flaming skull inside some sort of halo thing.. I'd be more likely to say something to do with Sisters of Battle if anything

Fellwater Troggoths are on 50mm bases - I expect this guy is on one of those.

That would make that frog nearly orc size then which is massive. There are 3 troggoth base sizes in that errata document they did. 2 out of 3 are 40mm so I think its not unreasonable to think it's 40mm.

Either way.. I wants it. I wants it. Give to froo.
