  1. I wonder which union would cover GW creative employees in the UK. I have no doubt that GW would fight any unionisation drive, with that same old “we’re a family” schtick that you get at so many corporations these days.

As for all those arguing that describing a wage as close to a poverty wage is a personal attack… are you serious? None of the examples provided here make any convincing argument that this is an inaccurate description, some of them are absolutely laughable. It’s not a poverty wage because it wouldn’t be a poverty wage in another country!? Uh… sure, and if my aunt was a man she’d be my uncle. So what? There is no universal measure of poverty. It’s not a poverty wage because my wife earns less than than and we still enjoy many luxuries (because I earn a high salary)? Are you kidding me? Would your wife be able to afford all that on her own? Obviously not.

Some people need to get a grip. If you’re not earning enough for the work that you do, it’s your boss that’s insulting you, not people on the internet pointing out that wages are low.

  2. I don't really want to wade into old vs new stormcast debates, but these new ones appeal to me whereas the old ones didn't.

I'd like to know, though, if there are any third-party producers of alternative shields and/or heads that people know of? I'd love to replace the shields on the new ones with a nice big round shield.

  3. I agree with KriticalKhan. I don’t think there is any real need to maintain them, and I suspect that we’re going to see them made less relevant, regardless of what’s in the rpg.

After the siege of Excelsis, I reckon the destruction side will splinter into rival groups along factional lines. We’ve already seen order start to break apart, and have further potential tensions introduced. Death is almost certainly splitting (but we have to wait and see what happens with the vamps). Chaos has always fought among themselves, and belakor adds yet more infighting

Grand alliances seem more like a somewhat useful shorthand for explaining the motivations of the various factions. But I think that “alliance” indicates a much more cohesive and cooperative relationship than the “reality” of the setting. Allies don’t fight, if we’re using the ordinary meaning of the word. Factions within GAs do.

  4. I like the idea of minor races that never see the tabletop, it adds depth to the world. I’d say that the remnants of the silent people now would be tiny pockets of their culture, more interested in hiding from the much more powerful major races than risking their complete destruction.

We never saw the fish men that lived near Naggaroth, the Hobgoblin khanate, or the various races of the Far East in the Old World either.

Having said that, they’d be fun to see in Beastgrave or even Warcry.

  5. Just a thought on the mysterious silhouette- why are we assuming it’s one model? If the design elements that we can identify don’t match up, doesn’t it make sense that GW might have mashed-up the silhouettes of two or more models?

the news of Hashut’s return fills me with a joy I can barely describe. Aqshy is his by right!

  6. I’m not trying to make a positive out of a negative- and it does seem pretty slap-dash and dodgy of GW. Covid has definitely messed with the release schedule, so it’s possible a lot of stuff is missing because BR books will update other armies soon anyway.

The only reason I think that it’s because of 3.0 is that there’s no other good reason for such a half-assed job, but we all know GW will never admit 3.0 is coming (until the hype train is due to leave the station).

Guys, they need 3 months to release Slaneesh, do you really think gw is going to have malerion/vampires/whatever ready for february?

Unfortunately I think you’re on the money. The new battle tome will be slaanesh I reckon. Which means they’ll probably be the last book before the new edition...

  8. All this fuss over heraldry. Jeez. Empire heraldry has never been consistent with real world rules,  nor should it be.

Cesar, I suggest you get the uniforms and heraldry of the empire book. It might drive you insane, but empire heraldry has always been this over-the-top, if not worse.

  9. Some really interesting stuff happens in this period, or around it, not least of all the comet hitting Mordheim...

A quick look at a timeline of the Warhammer World shows that once they’re done with the Empire, there’s Repanse de Lyonesse fighting off chaos in Bretonnia, and then the many wars of the vampire counts.

I have such high hopes for this, I just know I’ll be let down haha
