The lack of a Stormcast box genuinely surprised me. This isn't 40k, but they're still the posterboys of AoS.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. Edit: Sance beat me to the punchline.

The KO box is a bit disappointing because it's basically Aether War + a Frigate and Gunhauler but you get Brokk instead of an Endrinmaster in Dirigible Suit.

Even if you go out and buy a Start Collecting you only have 1 Battleline if you actually play it as Barak-Nar. I think the play is to just say Brokk is actually an Endrinmaster in Dirigible suit and run Endrinriggers as Battleline

The Tzeentch set looks utterly amazing if you want to buy into them!

Dang it, I was literally just thinking that I never put my Tzeentch half of Aether Wars on eBay and then GW is like “why don’t you go to 2K?”

I wonder if Aether Wars sold like crazy and that’s why we’re getting both factions to end the year.

i don't see any problem with he current Neferata model (other then sharing the kit with Arkhan and Mannfried)

or rather the kits seems way too new to be straight up replaced anytime soon

I could have worded my post better, I meant better minions for Neferata like new Blood Knights, Vampire Infantry, maybe some of her spies as elites, etc.
    I love Neferata's current kit!

Is there any chance that "Decadence" refers to new vampires :D

This would tease Slaanesh players and give Neferata some new models. I see this as an absolute win!

But let’s just take it one step further and have pompous, excessive vampire royalty that can fight for Death or Slaanesh.

Legos are a solid investment better than gold although ;) while it’s true some Warhammer miniatures used can sell at a higher price inflation included to what paid, a good condition retired Lego set can sell up to 5 times its original value... just saying... not gonna sell my Nighthaunt army 5 times the price I bought it lol can’t even sell my extra Glaivewraith at 50% discount!!!

I ended up selling all my Nighthaunt bundled together as an "army lot". I think the biggest selling point was the 50 chainrasp :D

I can't help but feel that Catacombs should be an expansion pack. $237USD for something that most Warcry gamers already own a large chunk of makes it very off-putting for existing players, and at that price is hard to call it a starter set.

Fingers crossed that the warbands, new dungeon accessories ("scenery" that you can't really use in any other setting), and Catacombs book will be available on their own in a few months. I'll maybe pick up the board pack in the mean time. Maybe not. $55 is right on the edge. Likely I'll just skip it entirely and just pick up the Scions for regular Warcry games far down the road. Bummer, really. Was very much looking forward to this.

Pre-covid I might have seen it on display in a store and been pulled into an impulse buy. Now, with the risks and lockdowns (yeah, I know, America ...), I won't have that exposure, so I'll wait.

Very interested to read about others peoples' experiences, though!

I was thinking I might get 2 of them at $160. Now at $210 GW isn’t getting anything from me.

  7. Cunning Fleetmaster gives a blanket “It can Fly High unless it’s an Arkanaut Ironclad”.

What are y’all’s thoughts on this overriding the normal Fly High garrison limits?

In my mind, because of the way it’s written, it removes any other limitations of Fly High so you could Fly High a Frigate with 15 Thunderers for example.

I know it likely needs an FAQ, but I’m still frustrated about lingering questions that haven’t been answered.

Can anyone share any tips about painting Endrinriggers, specifically how to to hold them while you paint? Don’t wanna put them on the flight stand yet but struggling to find a point where I can sticky tack them to something for example. Ta!!

I drilled a hole in their bum and pinned them to corks with a paper clip

Nice! Are a 3 model unit of riggers effective in smaller lists? I get worried they'd die too fast.

At 1K and below they’re pretty nice to have for grabbing objectives or providing a speed bump somewhere on the board. Their shooting isn’t bad and their melee is really good.

I was originally gonna use more in my list because I started with Aether War, but I really wanted to try everything out since I’m new to KO. Also, I ended up changing my mind after the first week as I was planning on taking the Dirigible Suit but we were growing 125 points each week and I wanted a Frigate in my list so I didn’t want to go 2 weeks with no new models in the league.

Hey folks, this might be asking for a lot but I'm having a lot of trouble making a 1k list that I like. I'm always left with 40-80 points to spare and nothing to put in it. I have come up with some 2k lists I like and want to try, but I don't have the models yet. And I'd like to try to get playing at my local shop before then.

So...if anyone's willing to help me, I'll list here what models I currently have, both built and not. And maybe something will click? For Sky-Port I'm not super picky for this small list. Maybe Zon, Thryng or Urbaz. But any's fine. I can use the ones not built, I just figured I'd separate them.

    Assembled
    30x Arkanauts
    9x Endrinriggers
    10x Thunderers
1 of each Hero including Endrinmaster on Balloon
    1 Frigate
    1 Gunhauler
Thundrik's Privateers (could also just have Thundrik himself as a second Khemist)

    Owned but not Assembled
    10x Arkanauts
6x Skyriggers (planning to make them Wardens)
1 Gunhauler (Technically assembled but in a few pieces waiting priming)
    1 Ironclad
    5x Hearthguard (Fyreslayers)

So if anyone's willing to try to help me make a list out of these, great. If not, that's ok. I'll keep plugging away at it either way.

I’m currently in an escalation league to Meeting Engagements. Due to this, my list is slightly different from how I’d normally run it (1x10 and 1x20 Arkanauts instead of 3x10)

    Skyport: Zilfin
Admiral - Leader - Master Commander Trait

Aether Khemist - Staff is Ocular Optimization

    Frigate - Cannon - Omniscope

Gunhauler - Cannon - Debt Settler Torpedo

3x Endrinriggers - 1 Skyhook and 2 rapid fire river gun + chainsaw hand

    1x 10 Arkanauts

    2x 10 Arkanauts

Last week was 750 points and I ran this list without the Admiral and 20 block of ArCo and it was a blast.

Dammit, Games Workshop, leave my wallet alone!

I just bought Arcanites and Squigs for Warcry and all the new cards. At least GW was nice enough to wait long enough for most of us to get another paycheck before the next wave.

Where the hell is GW on some basic questions that really need clarification to put our community at ease.

    1)  Battalions drops occurring "at the same time" in regards to ships being placed first followed by units being placed into garrison on ship for "one drop" or multiple.

                 Possible Answers:

-- Kharadron battalions can be one drop even if you garrison units from the battalion into ships from the same battalion.  Battalions are setup "at the same time" but the player may choose the order of what models are setup first.  Eg. Place a frigate first followed by a unit from the shared battalion.

-- The battalion setup must be split if you wish to place units into garrison on ships.  As the ship is not considered to be deployed yet during an "at the same time" battalion setup.

At the 11:15 minute mark of this week's Warhammer Weekly, Vince says that GW is aware they broke stuff with this FAQ answer and that they're gonna fix it but I have no idea where he got that info and what the time frame is.

Its answered in the Movement Phase portiom of core rules FAQ.

Tl;dr no you cannot use fly high.

    MOVEMENT PHASE
Q: Several abilities allow a unit to make a move ‘as though it were the movement phase’. Does this allow them to make use of abilities or special rules that normally only apply in the movement phase? For example, in the hero phase a unit of Kurnoth Hunters in a Free Spirits Battalion can move as though it were the movement phase. Would this allow them to make use of the Forest Spirits battle trait, where a unit can be transported to the battlefield in the movement phase?
A: No, it does not. All it means is that the move is made as though it were the movement phase, so the distance the unit moves will be based on its Move characteristic, it can’t move within 3" of an enemy model, it can run and retreat (but if it does so it will have counted as having run or retreated for the rest of the turn), and so on.

This is incorrect, none of the Fly High or Hitcher rules reference only being able to move in the movement phase while Forest Spirits does.

There of course would be issue with taking balloon units along for the ride since it states "one unit"

Hmm, that’s a valid concern because of the wording:

“...this unit will hitch a lift instead of making a normal move (as long as this unit has not made a normal move in the same phase)...”

I’d say my argument for is that it hasn’t made a normal move and it’s not clear that you have to have a normal move available to the unit.

The argument against is “instead of making a normal move” infers that having a normal move available is a prerequisite to Hitchers.

    GW, when’s the next FAQ?
