  1. Not trying to callout an old post but just wanted to provide clarity on something I recently learned and that's that you can pile in if you're within 3" OR made a charge move. The second part doesn't come up often. Core Rules 12.1 (emphasis mine): "A unit is eligible to fight if it is within 3" of an enemy unit and it has not fought in that phase, or if it made a charge move in the same turn and it has not fought in that phase." Simply making a charge allows you to make a pile in move with a unit even if the enemy unit it charged is no longer there. Since Chosen and Varanguard have loadouts with 2" reach weapons, you can pile in towards the nearest unit you're not in combat with and whack them with your 2" range weapons for an effective threat range of 5".
  2. My IDK buddy noted the same thing about their reroll 1's ability on their new hero. Not super related here, but could be a sign of things to come for both books.
  3. Assuming they're following their "Warscrolls should have 1 rule" mentality or whatever it is, this looks like it's the work of the bin guy when compared to the IDK sin guy rule. IDK rule: Always does something every combat phase FS rule: This might do something under super tight restrictions you can't meet easily on your own Edit: "super" might be unfair but still
  4. The Australian GW site posted the preorder for White Dwarf 471: Personally hoping the LoB battle trait buffs our battleline Black Knights
  5. Basing it off 14.0 and 14.1 in the core rules, it sounds like a unit suffers wounds and then allocates those wounds to models. So it may actually work. That’s not super concrete but I think RAW that’s how it would go.
  6. I disagree that it doesn’t help anything. It helps me skip the FOMO on this disappointing release. Time to start pondering how many zombies I need again.
  7. The best thing I can think of is Swamp Boggler themed Gloomspite Gitz proxies.
  8. This got me a vp in a learning game just last night
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just Soulblight and we get all the other FAQs Saturday but I can't imagine that would bring down the whole section.
  10. Unfortunately, I think you’re on to something and I think it’ll need an FAQ. I fully believe the intent is that they’re limiting you from taking other tribes artifacts in Taker, but they may also for some reason decide they want it to restrict the universal from working with Very Acquisitive. Doesn’t seem very watertight.
  11. I haven’t been able to find anything that prevents Flaming Weapons from buffing Mount weapons. I’d halfway expect an FAQ to hit us with the “fun detected” bat though. In the meantime, I’m looking at running it on Nagadron’s Abyssal Talons for some sweet 4+/3+/-2/3 attacks.
  12. Allegedly that quote is from a play tester. If it didn't change and the play tester misread the 2.0 rule... Sigmar save us.
  13. Assuming I can get 2 artifacts in 3.0, I'm planning on Vengo + Necromancer instead of VLoZD w/ Neferata and Belladama. If the Vengorian Lord doesn't play out, I'm super interested in Chadukar The Beast for the 10 Wolves and some melee punch.
  14. I'm guessing this'll be the case, but remember that you can't trust ANYTHING you read on WarCom that isn't in a rules screenshot. They've been wrong about things before (looking at you Metawatch article with 3 2010 point lists).
  15. I'm a bit bummed that it sounds like we won't see Blood Knights as Battleline in LoB (after all, they used to be Battleline in Soulblight and Neferata was Soulblight), but I can make it make sense narratively with all the freakin vampire rebellions Neferata has to put down. What I am upset about is not getting some sort of handmaiden/spies models for Neferata's narrative. Maybe we'll get some cool rules for LoB though.
  16. This is the answer. We've learned numerous times that you can't take what the WarCom team says as fact. That's not to say they're intentionally misleading us, just that they aren't always in the know of what's actually gonna happen (ex. Curse City).
  17. Isn’t she “the last of her people” or something like that?
  18. Oof, I think you're right. I could've swore they came out with the Cultists of the Abyss but I don't seem them anywhere.
  19. At least for the first few months, I think you're relegated to eBay. It'd be super surprising for GW to have them available outside the core box. Also, I think they're still just gonna release all the heroes in one box separately down the line like (I think?) they did with Blackstone Fortress.
  20. Oooh, if they are bite marks, this could be a vampire thrall infantry
  21. How is there nothing to clarify? DoK has an interpreted restriction (It only says Cobra Kai can take them so that means the other temples can't) while in the same book the Stormcast/Idoneth/Slaves to Darkness have an absolute restriction (their battalions are restricted to specific armies/factions on the warscoll). In the points section, they are Daughters of Khaine warscroll battalions. Similarly, The Stormkeeps are Stormcast Eternal, The Bloodsurf is Idoneth and Gresh's is Slave to Darkness. Every other battalion in the book has a limiter on it that restricts it to a specific subfaction or army. Stormkeeps require a Stormkeeps army, Bloodsurf requires the Ionrach enclave and Gresh's requires Idolators. There is no limitations on the DoK battalions. On page 95 it states "This update to Battletome: Daughters of Khaine contains rules for the Zainthar Cobra Kai temple, new war scroll battalions for Morathi's elite Scathborn, and updated warscrolls for Morathi after <spoiler>." Cobra Kai and the new warscroll battalions are completely separate items there. By the way, please don't take this as me trying to be an a-hole or anything. I have 3 copies of Shadow & Pain on the way to build my Cobra Kai army. I plan to run a Vyperic Guard Cobra Kai 1 or 2 drop. I'm not trying to game any rules. I just want GW to write good rules and by having these discussions it hopefully gets more people to go ask them and hopefully get an FAQ. I'm an Arkanaut at heart and love the minutia of the rules. If I've being a ******, tell me and I'll stop.
  22. Cool, let's look at an apples to apples example. White Dwarf 451 gave us 3 war scroll battalions for for the Ironsunz warclan (temple of Orruks). All 3 of these battalions (even though they're listed as "Ironsunz Warscroll Battallion") specify "This battalion can only be taken as part of an Ironjawz army that is from the Ironsunz warclan. Similarly WD 455 gave us 2 battalions for Jawz of Mork goblins. All of these warscrolls require most units to have the Jawz of Mork keyword that you can give your army if it's a GSG army. I'm not sure of which other armies have subfaction specific battalions, but Ironsunz is a 1:1 comparison (new temple) and their battalions all have limiting text. Edit: strikethrough
  23. Then see my other comment about Stormkeeps. Stormkeeps have the same "When you pick" language and instead of being granted access the way Cobra Kai does, their battalions are all explicitly restricted to Stormkeeps on the war scroll battalion card.
  24. By that logic, do we have to assume that the 3 new battalions (Vyperic Guard, Scathcoven, Shrine Brood) are generic Daughters of Khaine Warscroll battalions that all temples can take and that Cobra Kai only has access to the 3 new ones?
  25. I 100% agree. All the other battalions in the book have limitations. SCE has some of the same language where it says if you pick the SCE allegiance, you can say it'll be a Stormkeep army and ALL of their battalions say "This battalion can only be included in a Stormkeep army". It needs an FAQ for sure, but if it comes and we don't get a ruling (looking at you Emergency Ventplates) then there's no limiting language on using them in other temples.
