  1. I keep trying to make a list with LoS too and find myself running into a similar problem. Mostly asking what else I could spend those 310 pts (for the battalion and engine) on, and how many spells I really need.

    Way I figure, I want Dread, Vigor, Danse, and Curse of Years every turn. Maybe a 9" Soul Harvest through a spell portal cause that's just darn fun. That's 2-3 necros and Arkhan. Throw in some endless spells and I'm good, why invest in the battalion? Sure, more spells, an artefact and a cp, but for the same exact pts you could take 1 more necro, prismatic palisade, spell portal, cogs and 1 CP.

    and if the GoS drops to 120 in the tome as rumored, that leaves it at 1900 even for 3 command points. It might be better with no Behemoths and more little heroes like I suggested earlier, though, I don't know, I like my big models.
     

  4. Any thoughts on using the new NH battalions in LoS?

    I think Chainguard with a Mastery of Death General and support characters could be nuts.

    2x40 chainrasps, GoS, KoS, KoSoES, Necro and VL? It's 1330pts, But moves 9", one unit gets 4A each at 3+/3+, regenerating 2d6+3d3 in your hero phase, and can come right back if it gets wiped. 

  5. Im opting for VLoZD over vhordrai because his role is to zoom 19" upfield and take the focus of enemy shooting off Arkhan. With the wristbands, he's more resilient than V, cheaper, and can buff next turn whatever he summons.

    I like Vhordrai, and use him in my 1k list, but in my 2k list he doesn't quite fit my needs. He's a loner/hero-buffer and I needed a force-multiplier/tank.

  6. I stand corrected, a dark acolyte can take a lore spell, I got it confused with the DGA trait that is similar. So, if the general is neither a deathtmage or vampire, maybe it can choose either lore? Or maybe, if it's NH,  it has to choose from the NH lore? They might have to faq that

    Could I say for the choice of spell they are deathlords and could choose from both

    GoS i believe will get a spell from the new NH lore, which looks decent. I don't believe a non-wizard character gets an additional spell from one of lores if it takes dark acolyte, just AB and MS, could be wrong but that's how I've played it

    i was considering chainrasps for their save and movement, but settled on skellies for their better damage output, and because I already have them. Leaves me without use for the Soul Wars NH I just got though...
     

     

  9. My only hesitation with morghasts now it's that they're not summonable, so once they're gone, they're gone. Personally, I'd drop them and go for grimghasts or spirit hosts: have the VLoZD bring em out of the grave upfield and use his command ability on them. A 360pt squad of either would leave 80pts and you could then bump your chainrasps up to 30. Just my 2 cents.

    Thank you, this was my interpretation as well, but I didn't want to take it for granted. So, in theory, Arkhan could be 7" away from an Umbral Spellportal, place the other end of the portal 24" away, and then gain +6" to whatever spell he casts through the portal? If I'm interpreting that right, that's insane.

    This is very close to what I've been considering, but with Chainrasps and hosts instead of skellies and morghasts. Have you fielded it yet?

    I'd like to include her, she's a great buff for hosts and rasps, but in a Sacrament list she'd have to be taken in addition to Arkhan, since she's a mortarch, and I've had trouble figuring how to make the two synergize. She's slow, and likely won't take the enemies focus off Arkhan for a couple turns, so you need another hammer to help keep A alive. I l like a VLoZD with Pinions for that, but at that point it's 1000pts for 3 models.

  13. I'm considering Reikenor cuz I love the model and he could make a nice little assistant to Arkhan and drop an ES.

    What I'm wondering is what's the consensus on Lords of Sacrament now? An additional 60pts means you're paying 310 for that Mortis engine. Sure, you get a CP and artefact, but that's 15% of your army right there
