No change spoiled in our sub factions. I guess they were ok? I m surprised to see godseekers and pretenders remain when in the broken realm story, Slaanesh has been found

Seems the lore of pretenders has been changed, Slaanesh seems to be trapped but appears to be more powerful I think, in the battletome I suspect Slaanesh has broken even more chains considering they said this about pretenders, I mentioned it in the rumour thread.

    Pretenders

Some particularly glorious champions simply will not tolerate the eyes of the Dark Prince on anyone but themselves *cough* Sigvald *cough* and will fight all the harder for it.

  2. The only new thing is that pretenders lore has been changed in some fashion.

edit:Nevermind, noticed that the Lord of Pain makes our elites dudes battleline.

For me It’s obvious BR Teclis was in February and got delayed one month the same as Slaneesh.

But revealing the plot one month before is terrible.

Well GW has to move on with their marketing, this is just my perspective but before this, to me, it seemed like slaanesh has already been "released" and GW have now moved onto to the next thing. At the end of the day I don't have much reason to be annoyed about it considering the situation the world is in at the moment. GW have no control over that.

  4. Anyway, here's my prediction for broken realms Teclis, Teclis' forces chop through the nighthaunts, they're in the trailer. The Lumineth partially or reverses the the effect of the Nadir within shyish restoring it to how it was but in the process this causes more chaos across the realms. Due to the bonereapers being wrapped up in the eight points and the routing of the nighthaunt, Nagash turns to the vampires, leading into their battletome.

Vamps don’t need to be direct antagonists to Nagash, but I expect at least one Soulblight Mortarch to be subtlety undermining his rule, hopefully Neferata makes a play. Using subterfuge and working in the shadows is befitting of vampires after all. I’m hoping to see the political side of the courts, and the infighting between the vampiric houses personally.

We've seen Mannfred do exactly that against Nagash by using reverse psychology.  That's how I imagine the less loyal vampires get around Nagash sometimes.

Yup I think so too. Broken Realms: Morathi set up the Hedonites battle tome. I think this book could focus on Nighthaunt and perhaps Bonereapers as well, tying up any loose ends regarding the necroquake before they shift gear and delve into the new Soulblight stuff later on. Then subsequent Broken Realms books can focus on setting up 3.0.

Oh yeah, Nighthaunt really do need an update. They do appear in the trailer afterall. Perhaps a loss on that front might get Nagash to turn to the vampires.

  7. I'm against removing Nagash in some form again, as I said in my last post they already did that story. Death characters have agency to a point. But there is a line, they forfitied their free will to become undead. The whole story between sigmar and nagash is the topic of free will.

If mortals had no free will that means no chaos hence why they view Nagash as a threat. Sigmar feels otherwise.

FEC who don't want to serve nagash don't fight him, they run away, why? Because he can just hijack the vampire king and insert himself into their madness.

Nagash is the net negative to death, there should be a downside in becoming one of his creatures. In my opinion that's part of your agency.

Great preview vid and very exciting

Weird they didn't save that for tomorrow to be honest! That video alone would get me preeety hyped

I'm not sure this is right.

Warning: spoilers for Nagash The Undying King

After Nagash got his bones kicked by Archaon there was a long period of time where undead were basically just pottering around doing what they pleased/getting hammered by chaos - including plotting against Nagash and living in sin with non-Nagash worshippers. Nagash later wakes up and tries to reassert his control but he's a mess and has lost a lot of his power and so e.g. he can no longer control Crypslough, the first of the zombie dragons. Eventually he regains his power and crushes the Broken kings, (Undead who had rebelled against him).

Therefore, if Nagash gets knocked out cold in the same way he did when he got hit by Archaon, there's loads of scope for vampires to rebel against him while he's unconcious and try and find a way to subvert his power before he wakes up

Yeah, but why repeat the same storyline again? We spent years on that, Nagash recovered. Death is the loss of agency, its part of the faction. It's the dark mirror to order.

  9. So, what do all of you think the "new thing" for vampires will be? Because I doubt it will just be the vampires we all know and love, so what do you think of the possibility of werewolves? Considering the poster and the rumour engine? This was mentioned on the last few pages.

    Why not both? :P

To be honest, with GW release dates being a bit out of wack, these guys could be 4+ months off - plenty of time to finish painting Slaanesh mortals.

And while everyone's minds are on vampires at the moment, I am wondering when we'll hear more about Slaanesh. They seem to be a little forgotten about at the moment despite their release allegedly being very close.

It's troublesome when you favourite armies are coming out rather close together. But you're right, vampires will be my second project for sure!

Two points about the Undead discussion...:

    - Normal skellies aren't going anywhere, as Black Knights are kit-tied to Hexwraiths (which aren't going anywhere)

    - If this does end up being the Castlevania army (i.e. skellies, zombies, vampires, etc.), we can probably rule out that Tomb Kings were removed for being "too generic". Thus, maybe the door is still ajar for desert-themed mummies in the future.

If I recall correctly, in a white dwarf they wanted a common aesthetic for death in AOS, it was the designer talking about Nagash and how he went about making the mortarchs.  Now, this is just my interpretation, Tomb Kings did not fit in that aesthetic they were aiming for which was dark souls/castlevania/gothic, so they weren't carried forward I guess.

I agree. Nagash is still the boss. That being said they seem to be at varying levels of obedience. Vampires being the least. Neferata basically does crazy mental gymnastics to allow herself to disobey Nagash. I'm sure these guys will be like Manfred and Neferata.

Yes exactly, they can still have all their plots and ways of getting around Nagash, but Nagash is the boss, if he wants your army he's taking it.

I hope that any new Vampire faction is not tied into subservience to Nagash. Let Death as a whole alliance become a less monolithic 'and they serve Nagash' thing and let our heroes have more personal agency.

The whole point of Death is the loss of agency, you take that away then there is no downside to becoming an undead abomination, there is a reason why the courts that are not under Nagash run so as they get a whiff of him, because soon as he gets to the ghoul king that's it. Undead characters have their own plots, their own plans, constantly fighting each other for power, but when Nagash says jump, they all say how high? That is the cost of becoming an undead monster.

It's like chaos, yes you get personal power, but now you are at the whims of unknowable gods that can spawn you and you have the break down of society itself.

    Destruction is well, destruction.

Order provides freedom and security, but all the factions have different plans and agendas, we see this clearly in broken realms morathi, when they shouldn't be fighting one another they come to blows anyway, allowing their enemies to gain strength.

Remove Nagash, you remove the net-negative of becoming a undead.

I believe Gravelords will be the new LoN, more or less. People in the Death subforum have been speculating about the possibility of Soulblight replacing LoN since October. I think Arkhan, Nagash and the Morghast will be out, and Nighthaunt will finally be properly separated from the other undead as well. I expect a build out of Deadwalkers, Soulblight and the bats and wolves portion of LoN. Deathrattle will probably be in the book, but I don't think they will get a lot more than maybe a new hero, since they are by far the most complete subfaction already.

I also think that GW will use this opportunity to discontinue all the Finecast stuff currently in LoN, so if anyone wants to pick up any of the old Vampire Lords, now is probably the time.

I think this is the case, the fact that they're called Gravelords makes me believe this is going to be a replacement for LON.

I'm on the fence about the leaks; I quite like what we've seen, but at the same time they take out some of the excitement from the reveal itself. Kinda like when we got the Warcry book with the Slaanesh faces in; it wasn't a 'leak' as such, but it did take the edge off the reveals. I'm a little worried that these leaks will have the same effect, especially if we get more.

It might also lead to fans wanting more than what's been leaked - again, like the Christmas Slaanesh release, people were disappointed it was 'just' Slaanesh. I worry it could lead to the same reception here if more is leaked, or if this is the only vampire at the reveal. What's done is done now, but I think it would have been cooler for these to be a total surprise.

I hope we don't get any more leaks, and that there's still a load of cool new AoS stuff at the reveal.

I'm just going to say this, that's why you keep your expectations measured. People place way too much wishlisting on reveals when it's a common thing for GW to mainly preview what has been teased and then they cap off the reveal with something huge. Thinking like that is setting yourself up for disappointment, I'm might be sounding harsh here, but when this was pointed out people preferred to plug their ears.

From the name I am guessing the Soulblight Gravelords are the Vampire Counts 2.0

That's my guess, then we will see whether this vampire leak is true or not (It's most likely true.) I do think Soulblight is replacing LON in some fashion though. It's the Gravelord part that makes me believe that is the case.

Already seeing lots of hate posts in the Lumineth FB groups with fans crying and getting furious over the designs of these hybrid Kangaroo/Dinosaur creatures.  It's going to be just like the cow pre release all over again lol  Hopefully it won't be as toxic as last time.

I just adore the high fantasy design direction for these mounts though,  the aelf over the top extravagant feel literally captures what High Elves and Lumineth have always been about.  I hope the other Wind Temple models are like this in nature too.

I hope Lumineth players don't take this the wrong way, but the memery is what is winning people over, across various forums I have seen a lot of people liking the the mounted kangaroo hybrid archers and this is the thing that is pushing them to consider buying the army. With each temple Lumineth will have something people like and I think that's the direction GW are going with them.
