Hey guys sorry for the necro thread.

hey @Sedge  I placed an order with you this last weekend but I haven’t heard anything regarding shipping or anything I’ve shot a couple messages via your website so hoping this will get to you quick as well super excited to get these trays as I’m building g a skaven army and I’m looking at 180 bodies on the table for fun lol.

Hi Derek, yes these are indeed on the way. Normal postage to US can be a bit slow but normally takes about 3 weeks. Hopefully you'll be sneaking up on your enemy in perfect order pretty soon.

  2. Some models have an incredibly slender attachment to the base so correct magnets are advisable.
I use N52 neodymium magnets 4x2. I find they are pretty good.
mid you’d like to try before you buy I offer a free sample which includes  a tray and 3 magnets. (postage cost only)

  3. Thanks guys,

Our community is special. So many cool guys. It's my pleasure to carry on supporting the TGA even through the current times.

Yes we all have our priorities changed at the moment but we'll be here and ready for everyone when we can get back to our cool little game.

Cheers for looking, new stock and new designs coming soon.

  4. Yes it is very much dependant on what you would like to achieve with your units.

If they are small 10 man speed bumps then I would look at 3 and 4 man open. This allows quick and accurate spacing taking up the most space. They can easily collapse into tighter formations.

For bigger units its either the staright or cloud. Both do the same thing really.

For smaller high quality combat units I would go 3 man close. These are ace where exact positioning is useful. Especially good with 2" reach models. Why? Well if one model is touching all models must be in combat.

    I hope this helps.

Just got the trays and played a game with them! First impressions: shipping was a bit faster than I expected (UK to Canada) and the trays are nicely made. No sharp edges, paint seems fairly durable though there's a couple spots of metal shining through. Using them was a bit tricky at first though. Will definitely take some getting used to. I love the idea of not have edges, but now I realize how much I used the edges to pick up and move my other trays. With the metal models I was using, it was pretty finicky to move the trays around. I'm going to a 3 game tourney this weekend and will use plastic models with the trays, so I'll give my thoughts after that.

Yes with metal models you may need an extra magnet to increase the hold they have to tray. If enough weight is added the can become a little trickier to use.
it’s a balance between getting the right hold and being able to remove them. This is key to getting all the advantages from MiniMagTRAYs.

I've been searching for something more elegant, will definitely give the minimags a shot!!

Well if you want to you can always try the free tray and magnets on my site or just go for what you need.

Getting some great feedback from customers so far so I'm fairly confident there should be useful for you.

AND, you get a free sticker!  😁

There was a mixup with my order and I didn't receive my cloud trays (Mini Mag fired some in the mail immediately after I contacted them)

Was able to get my gobbos magged up and played a few games with the strips. They really are great. Bit unwieldy to use just the strips for now but the speed up in gameplay was super noticable and being able to pile in without removing the trays is fantastic.

Looking forward to getting the workhorse trays as I can already see how much better my games are going to be.

Yeah just me in the mail office I'm afraid so can't fire myself 🤣 All I can do is apologise 🙂

Glad you enjoy them. I've had a lot of great feedback about the trays from those that have tried them. It's why I offer free trays and magnets for anyone that would like to have a go.

These look great, I would like to order some. Do you ship to Germany?

Yes I do. I ship worldwide for a flat fee of £6. This is an added bonus for those that order large. Much cheaper than most worldwide shipping I've seen

@Sedge any plans on more 40mm versions? like a 5 tight, and 5 wide.  Or could you custom make them when payped upfront?

Currently I do these bad boys.

The thinking is this. If models are killed it doesn't matter where you remove them from, they always stay in 1"  coherency.  Very practical on the table. I would advise that more than one magnet is placed under the model due to extra weight of tray and models.

I only use them in AOS (don't really play 40K although I'm keen to get into it more).  In AOS I would say that's bang on the money.

Clouds are the most consistently useful in my experience, but you'll want some strips in your toolkit too.

Yes having options for what and how you deploy your troops. It’s worth noting that these trays are much less restrictive than normal trays so you have a fair bit of flexibility.

Thanks for the offer, shippings a bit steep though!

    Are all your trays/sheets branded?

If so is there an option to have them without branding?

Whats the benefit of your trays/sheets that other manufacturers don’t offer?

I’m happy to wax lyrical about the advantages of my trays but it may be better to point you here.

    https://plasticcraic.blog/2019/09/23/product-review-mini-mag-trays/

it’s an independent review by one of my customers.

Shipping expensive? I do my very best to keep costs low. £6 worldwide isn’t too bad. On any orders over about £40 I actually loose money.

Mom happy to remove branding if you really want too. Just let me know.

Seems to be exactly what you'd do without a tray....

Is there a listing anywhere of suppliers for movement trays. I asked Sarissa about these a while ago but they never responded to me.

Well I’m a movement tray supplier and I’m happy to respond. Come over to www.minimagtray.co.uk and have a look. We have a good email section so if you’d like to ask direct questions or feedback you can.

You can can also get a free tray. Yes really. Pop in over and get your free stuff.

  12. Yes here in the UK the design industry are vastly more likely to use the metric measurements than the imperial system. I work in design for oil industry mainly. I have to do drawings in both imperial and metric. Imperial is a pain to tolerance with bit fractional and decimal options.

  13. So my trays are done with a metric 25mm between models. This prevents models moving between them (1”=25.4mm)

also as they allow flexible placement of models (no rim to stop you) you can place them where you want on the tray. Simples.

Also do these trays allow models to be in base to base. This IS important in AoS any way you look at it. Most trays prevent this

    Another vote for minimagtrays.

I bought a cloud of  both 25mm and 32mm to test them with my DoK and Sylvaneth.

On the one hand I can hold the base upside down and they won't fall off. On the other, they can be pushed around on the cloud when you pile in or reform.

Smooth to push across the table (I was worried about damaging the club's gaming mats)

I am planning to go to magnets for transport as I am already fed up with damage to Hedonites, Sylvaneth  et al. So will be magnetizing my models anyway.

I can see it taking an hour or two to prep models of you aren't going that route, but then you don't have to paint these...so probably it evens out.

I will be getting more of these as soon as they have enough magnets back in stock.

They aren't cheap but the quality and all round usefulness makes them a great buy, IMO.

Always nice to hear that people are happy with the product. I've worked hard to design what I feel is the best design on the marketplace.

The product range will only expand into the future as more people see the advatages of magnetised models on metalic trays. The flexibilty and usability into late game is second to none.

Always happy to look at what people want for future dsegns od answers on a postcard people.

How would you not?  The tray is a set shape and size, you're definitely going to move beyond that at some point when piling in. An easy way to visualize that is putting a 10/20 man unit into a large based monster, you have to remove models from the tray to wrap around the base.

It is and it isn’t. Your models aren’t constrained enough to prevent some piling in.  The more models in a tray the more likely they’ll have to move off the tray. Again hard to imagine but it just works.

  16. 46 minutes ago, Drofnum said:

No rim but magnetized doesnt really seem much better than a rim though, you're still going to have to break the magnetic force to get them off the tray.

So the loss of the rim is key. Without this hinderance your able to slide your models around a bit to fit. They’re not rigidly locked in position. With a magnet in middle of base, models can almost hang off edges of tray and still work

There is only so much you can achieve with a tray. An individual model is almost always easier to position (unless he falls off terrain then a tray is better) but for bulk movement I love them.

The 3 model is a half way house. Flexibility and speed. It also ensure formations touch.

Eg. 3 x 25mm men in tray. 2” reach. First model touches enemy. Every model in unit  has to be in combat.

The 5 man Cloud I prefer for archers and units that don’t see too much combat but then most people prefer them 🤷‍♂️

As I say. I designed what worked for me. I would say that all other trays are bad, these just have some unique features that people seam to like 👍

one question I got is if you have anything for calvary bases?

Sorry but not yet. They are being planned. Not 100% sure which shapes I will go for yet so feedback is always helpful.

With piling in and non ranked up moves are the still very useful?

This is the idea. The models stay on the tray throughout the combat. I personally use the 25mm 3xClose for my plague monks. They work well having that flexibility. The low profile of them allows them to slide over the top of each other.

My thoughts as well, which is why my opening post asked for people's actual experiences.

I _want_ to use trays, but I'm not sure they would end up being useful.

This is Mubarak thoughts as well I was fed up with trays that only worked T1 and some of T2. I want something that I use all game.

  18. So MinimagTRAY, thats me.

I've approched this as a 'What do I really want to use' kind of project. The issues I see with current designs are this:

Rims, lack of flexibility, cost, not ready to use, usable for the entire game not just T1

    So from my site... www.minimagTRAY.co.uk

Fully magnetic trays: Made of high grade, precision cut steel the trays are fully magnetic to allow your magnetised troops a surface to really stick too.

No RIM! Finally, no rim around your troops. This allows your troops to get into base to base contact with the enemy. No more ‘counts as contact’ but correct placement of your troops in the combat phase without the need to remove your tray to do it.

Low profile. Steel means thin and strong. Profile less than 1mm means that they can easily stack on top of each if the situation calls for it.

Practically invisible when in use. We don’t really want to see the movement tray, it’s the models we want to see. Low profile, no rim and practically invisible when in use. This delivers this like no other design.

Ready to use. MiniMagTRAY are ready to use. No building, gluing or painting required to use. Just magnetised models and your ready to go. Don’t worry if you’ve never magnetised an army.

Magnetising models is sooooo easy. I've always done it for transport so it makes sense to use it on the table. I did a skaven army in one night. The whole lot.

I am going to expand the range to include some of the larger sizes but alos ways to really get the best use out these trays. Designed for fighting with rather than just deployment.
