     And I was running flaming weapon. But he'd taken about wounds before he hit combat. Mostly mortals, so shrugging 50% I think would be better. Especially as theres a number of kruelboys players on my area... so lots of mortal wounds flying about.

  2. So I had my first game with the full demon list I posted on page 315. Was vs stormcast. Ended up tabling him at the top of turn 3. 

    I was already ahead on vps, but I will admit, that my mortal wounds and battleshock tests for the deamons were red hot. Returning 2 skullcrushers and about 10 bloodletters to the field with a mix of the blood throne prayer, rolling 1s on battleshock tests and the command trait.

     

    Bloodthirster with Arcane tome would have been much better with the 4+ ward vs mortals in hindsight, but he still did lots of work!

    1: I'm fairly sure it's only Lore stopping me. And I'm not sold on any of the demon relics. The 'thirster is gonna get focused down, so bringing his own Arcane shield is kinda like him being a priest as well.

     

    2: I've gone for 2x20 and 1x6 for two reasons, one, so that they don't get popped before I have chance to use 'embodiment of wrath' and the blood throne prayer to regen more guys. 

     

    And two, so I can focus my buffs more easily. The 3d6" charge from the bloodthirster, killing frenzy and bronzed flesh are all single target, so I'm aiming to get max return on my investment.

  4. I've got my first game with the new book on Tuesday.  I'm wanting to try building around bloodletters so I'm running the following list:

    Khorne- bloodlords

     

    Whip thirster- arcane tome -330

     

    Herald on foot general, embodiment of wrath, Tunnel master, bronzed flesh prayer -110

     

    Herald on chariot, killer instinct prayer -160

     

    20 bloodletters -360

    20 bloodletters -360

    5 flesh hounds -100

     

    6 bloodcrushers -360

    Skull cannon -140

     

    Wrath axe -70

    Total 1990

    1 drop, all in a battle regiment.

     

    wish me luck. I'm hoping there will be enough bloodletters left at the end of a round of combat to use the blood thrones recursion, as well as from embodiment of wrath to really attrition people to death...

  5. Event is a local one on the 24th October...

     

    I think I'm gonna need the help lol.

     

    Just played vs tzeench tonight. Only got through 1.5 rounds, but was in the lead. I think that was more due to my opponents mistakes than my skull though!

    I have a couple more games scheduled so I can fill you guys in if you're interested.

     

    Crimson Crown and an STD Prince are well worth taking a warlord Detachment for!

    They die really easily. So if you expect a lot of shooting they're not really worth it.

    Second, they're really swingy. Sometimes you'll go in and kill like 12 guys and sometimes they'll do like 2 wounds. Average against a 4+ save is 6 wounds.

    They really benefit from buffs. Just keeping him inside the bloodsecrator aura and giving him all out attack or monstrous duel will double his damage output. Avg against 4+ almost 12. 

    They serve best as bait or distractions. I've often lured enemies into committing something dangerous because ghorgon LOOK big and scary and then I end up charging the unit next turn with the things that actually ARE scary (bullgor, bloodthirster, etc). 

    I find them of debatable use. If theres a lot of shooting they'll still work as a distraction but almost anything competent will kill them without any trouble. They can lure melee armies into over committing but since shooting doesn't pay the same opportunity costs in the movement phase or have to put themselves at risk to bring it down it really comes down to the meta. Other than that. Depending on the mission they can make for an easy savage spearhead battle tactic and you will want to make use of their monster status to score some extra points because they will inevitably be giving up points to your opponent.

  7. What do you guys think of Gorghons?

     

    I have my first game on aos 3 on tuesday, and im currently looking at an alpha beast warpack of 2 of them, and a warlord batallion of Thirster, StD Prince with crimson crown and a 'secrator.

     

    im a bit worried about them exploding before they do any damage, but am hoping they go in like a proverbial wreaking ball and let my battleine infantry mop up.

  8. Had my first game with LoCA last night.  I was running my list from the last page with the exception of swapping the skull cannon out for 3 bloodcrushers.

    I was Vs bloodgullet mawtribes .

    3 places of power, and I'd killed all of his heroes by the top of turn 3 securing and easy win on VPS.

    Basic thoughts: I can't see myself casting soulsnare shackles and warp lightning vortex. Might swap shackles out for something else. (I have 30 points for triumph atm)

    The corruptor with four-fold blade is amazing. He killed a unit of mournfang with just mortals, and then smashed into a butcher and did 21+ wounds. 

    30 plaguebearers take a really long time to die, even if you don't keep the general nearby.

    I was super surprised by the contorted epitome. It has 11 attacks at 3/3 with rend. 

    The khorne deamonprince command ability kept the tyrant and ironguts from slamming into me, and reduced the impact hits I took. We'll worth the CP.

    Loving the list atm. I know that commiting to a single god plus belakor is probably better, as is gaunt summoner plus pink horror summoning. But I'll play with what I've got until I can drop the money on a unit of horrors.

    There's loads of things that the warscroll builder doesn't have. However, the legion is effectively a grand alliance: chaos army, that only contains "chaos, daemon" units. 

    So everything from k'daai fireborn, verminlords and pusgoyle blight lords are allowed in the list.

    Incidentally, we have no access to allies that aren't from a mercenary company.

    It's a fairly heavy investment o resources, (points, artefact, CP, positioning) but yeah. A very nice defensive setup. 

    Keeping the harbinger alive will be key, as is having a hammer unit to let you keep the pusgoyle unit moving and not stuck in combat with a cheap horde unit.

    I'd love to run and summon horrors. But 10 pinks, 20 blues and 20 ember things per unit is expensive to buy and Hella time consuming to paint for summoned  200pt unit.

     

  12. I've got a list I plan on trying. I think the 20 bloodletters and skull cannon would be better off as 10 pinks and 10 daemonettes, but these are the minis I have.

  13. I've had a couple of games with my archaon + bloodforged list.

    I've had a major victory Vs FEC (tabled him top of turn 3, on three places of power, ended up 14 VPS Vs 7)

    I also had a minor victory Vs seraphon (can't remember scenario, had 4 objectives.)

    Seraphon player was running the monster batallion that was a pig to kill!

    I'm taking it to Warhammer world for the GT this weekend, so if anyone is there, come say hi!

  14. I've been running brass despoilers since the points drop on bullgors and ghorgon, and theyve been fun!

    I've been thinking about how to cram the new archaon into a list, and I think that the bloodforged batallion might be stupidly fun, even if it's not very good it'll certainly generate a WTF from your opponent.

    Goretide gives archaon rerolls to wound,  and pretty much the whole army fights multiple times per combat phase.

    I'm gonna test it tomorrow Vs FEC and report back.

    It's just a shame archaon can't use his command ability on anyone but himself.

    Archaon + reapers + 'secrator+ bloodstoker is cool. Piling in 6" with the bloodthirster of unfettered fury command ability twice is amazing as well!

  16. I've had great fun running 40 marauders + blood forged for ages. Even without the immunity to battleshock, whipping them blessing them and tossing them onto an objective is quite tricky to shift! 

    I'm trying to get a list I like with brass despoilers to work atm, as I'd like to take it to the GT in Nottingham in Jan. 

    I currently have 100pts spare, should I take a Slaughterpriest with killing frenzy? Or farm cps and blood tithe off of a unit of gor?

    Is what I've got so far. Very msu, hopefully very fast with the beast grave warband in there. I doubt I'll get his spell off, but a couple of mortal wounds and an extra +1 to hit seems cool.

    I'm looking at using the tempest's eye allegiance, probably gonna use a city generated from the tables on the community site. being 5+ save on 25mm bases, I've been thinking of converting some Dark elf corsairs into elf pirates with pistols, probably some flintlocks or revolvers from a 25mm company (for those dainty elven hands!) for the skyhooks, I was thinking of using stormcaller staves from Warmachine (I have about 12 gathering dust in a drawer) and having the ranged attack represent them calling down thunderbolts.

    Lots of work, but should look ace on the tabletop!
