From the preview. +1 to hit is 16 points.

So far from what I see I'm pretty excited by the Great waaagh. You get some really nice bonus, and mixing both IJ and BS will give a lot of flexibility to army building. You get access to shooting, cheap chaff. At this point I can't wait to see all warscroll and spelllore to have the full overview.

Ok still a bit confused here. Won't you need 36 pts by turn 2 then to do what you said? Or do you spend 20 and get everything on the list up until 20? Because that would be super sick.

No the table is for the great whaagh, although +1 charge is an early buff for like 6 or 8 points. If you bring Gordrakk and 2 warchanters for example you get 10 points per turn, so you could have 20 points by turn 2 and have +1 to hit and +1 wound to all Orruks units. That is Insanely powerful.

How did you get both +1 to hit and +1 to wound? The +1 to wound is already 20 pts on it's own right?

  3. Drakkfoot will be very strong. It counters Ethereal amulet and makes Nurgle and Nighthaunt fights a lot easier. Not sure if even BS can handle Slaanesh but we'll see.

Edit: It doesn't counter amulet. I thought it granted the Ethereal keyword.

  4. A friend of mine gifted me his tin Overtyrant. And I must say it's a pretty amazing unit for mixed destruction (and you can only really run him in mixed destro anyway). The ability to just give an enemy unit -1 to hit across the board is pretty amazing. Only trouble I'm having is finding his official round base size. I'm going to put him on a Stonehorn base because when he was re-released for week as a resin model he came on that base on the GW website.

  5. I've read the GHB part for meeting engagement a few times. Including the battleplans. But it's still a mystery to me who actually has first turn. The battleplans do have you roll off who sets up a unit first.  But after that they don't refer to anything to dictate who goes first (including the core rules of the player who has set up everything before the other player has goes first).

So who goes first in ME and where can I find that information?

@Pitloze,  do Meeting Engagements let you break typical ally rules?  Not sure how you took a Fyreslayer (Order) ally in a Gutbusters(Destruction) list.  Or were ya just doing open play style?

New Mercenary rules apply to ME as well. He's a merc.

  7. I tried this Meeting Engagement list and I really liked it. The Berzerker actually does a lot of work for 100 points. Also feel Ironguts start to feel good when they are in groups of 6. They did a lot of damage. And I got to finally experience their once per game ability. It was okay, not worth having a Ogor run away for in my opinion.

    Allegiance: Destruction
    Mortal Realm: Ghyran

    Spearhead
    Grimwrath Berzerker (100)
    - Allies

    Main Body
    Tyrant (160)
    - Great Gutgouger
    - Artefact: Ghyrstrike
    Butcher (140)
    - Pair of Stump Blades and Great Cauldron
    6 x Ogors (240)
    - Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists

    Rearguard
    6 x Ironguts (360)

    Total: 1000 / 1000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Wounds: 69

I personally much prefer just watching competitive lists in top down camera tournament coverage.   The Honest Wargamer’s events coverage is the obvious one but on YouTube you can find others from other tournaments (plus Warhammer TV’sown).    It’s only here that you see expert placement, movement, synergies, combinations, reactive play etc.      Each to their own but seeing battle reports of players playing poorly thought through lists of armies they clearly have barely read the book for, playing basic rules wrong and making stupid tactical choices is not enjoyable for me.   If the original poster is more of my mindset then above are the channels they can try.   If they like something else then others will give better recommendations

Yeah I think the top down footage is not doing it for me. So that might be a strike against it for me. I think Tabletop Tactics (40k channel) still has the best balance of gameplay, hosts, and production. But I agree with your stance. To each their own!

Again, you clearly don't believe in competitive play so why did you come to a topic asking for competitive reports to push your agenda?  This is not the place for a competitive vs casual discussion.  But I want to point out, it again sounds like you are refering to games where one guy is bringing a competitive list and one person is not.  Or you are talking about kryptonite matchups.  In either case for those of us who want to become good competitive players:

    A. understanding what to do in a kryptonite matchup is extremely important for a competitive player.

    B. The 2 examples you gave me give me a very strong impression that you like to take "balanced" lists and have been burned multiple times by scew lists.  That really sucks for you, but neither of those situations need be so dire if strong competitive players taking competitive lists are playing those games.

    C. Competitive lists usually involve skill, they just do.

I did not create this topic lol. I just stated the reason why most battlerep youtube channels play balanced games.

Ummm... I think you may be thinking of round one of a tourney when a top tier player draws a fluff list...  We are talking about 2 competitive players bringing 2 competitive lists; there is nothing boring about that imo.  Also, great contribution to the topic at hand 🙄.

There are many battlereps in which "but we took these units because we want to have it be fun" has been said. You really want to watch 4 Ballista's deepstrike and take 40% of the board without the enemy being able to do anything about it? Or watch a FEC player dictate all of the combat unless he's facing another FEC player?

Also there is a difference between strong lists and competitive lists. Strong lists have units or strategies that are fun but also good. Competitive lists will sacrifice fun for value.

I initially thought the same but, and i;m not trying to rain on your parade because they could easily change the stye, there is no sword with two cutting edges in the Ogors range. It's part of their brutal aesthetic but again could still be a change in style.

Ironjawz also don't have swords with two edges. And that is the only other army that has those teeth on their weapons. So I don't know what other army it could be except those two.

  12. I personally feel they could have given Bonesplitterz and Gutbusters an alliance ability to hold them over on the one side, and use it as a playtest on the other side.

This probably means both books are already set in stone. But setting in stone could mean within a month or within a year. Either way the way they phrased their reasoning for not giving ANYTHING was grating and unfortunate.

I know that have to be careful about what they communicate. Because one letter of announcement and people go crazy. But some sort of roadmap would be nice.

What list would that be? Sorry I'm not familiar with the Eurlbad, I'll check it out.

    Eurlbad with new points:

Huskard on Stonehorn : 320 (with Ethereal amulet or Thermal rider cloak)

    Stonehorn Beastrider : 300

    Stonehorn Beastriders : 300

    Stonehorn Beastriders: 300

    2x4 Mournfang riders: 280

    2x4 Mournfang riders: 280

    Eurlbad : 170

    Total

    1950

You get 1 CP from the battalion and 1 cp from being 50 under 2k. Starting with 2 CP and being 1 drop is decent. If you see a chance to get a good alpha strike in, take the first turn. If not give it away and alpha strike on your turn and hope that your opponent left a flank exposed. Use the 3 CP (you will get one on your turn) to turn any run roll into a 6 for the Stonehorns and try to explode stuff of the table.

I didn't bother bringing in any magic. 1 Butcher might have been nice to maybe get a lucky roll on the cauldron and get 1+ to hit. But with Eurlbad you do enough average damage that it doesn't matter. And with no +1 to casting and unbinds (and Butchers cant have artefacts as allies) you don't really do much.

Personally I would give the Huskard the cloak and use him to snipe something expensive off the board. His ability to make Mournfang attack after he attacked doesn't work well in Eurlbad because the Mournfang can't keep up with him. But in Eurlbad he does do 1 more damage (which also counts for the Stonehorn) so he can do a lot of damage. Also, always take Everwinters Master and always reroll the winter dice if it's not a 1 or a 2. You always want that reroll 1's for save rolls.
