Vampire lords aren't exactly the most thematic fit as allies anyway.  The abhorrent delusions are apparently catching - I'd imagine regular vampires would go out of their way to avoid FEC, and those who didn't would soon end up as ghoul kings themselves.  Admittedly from a purely mechanical perspective it would be nice to stack the vamp lords CA with the FEC's ravenous hunger CA, but not letting you do that is probably a deliberate choice, much as I expect we won't be seeing the summonable keyword added either, to avoid stacking native attack buffs with the necromancer's signature spell.

So from both a thematic and a mechanical perspective, I can certainly understand why the FEC's ally options are so limited, and in and of itself it doesn't bother me too terribly much... except that the lack of ally options, and lack of synergy with some of the options they do have, doesn't exactly help the bigger problem that is their limited selection of models & units in faction.

Still, corpse carts in particular seem like a decent fit - rolling banquet wagons that provide some appreciated spellcasting buffs, don't cost to terribly much for what they do - whether in points or in dollars, and fit in well enough with the faction's overall aesthetic sensibilities.

I would definitely be ok if Corpse Carts, Bats and Wolves found their way into our army. Its a shame we don't have any calvary but that wouldn't make sense, they'd just eat the horse right? Then again that would be true of any allies we gained lol

  2. My brain is already doing crazy theory crafting assuming points stay the same but adding info we know now. You can go:

    Gristlegore Court

    Infernal Courtier (general)

    GK on Ghiest (Spectral spell)

    GK on ZD

    6 Flayers

    Terrorghiest

    Terrorghiest

    1900/2000

That's 11 models to start. summon 4 more models in and have 4 behemoths that can possibly run/charge, pile in twice and get extra hits on 6s. Seems pretty silly.

Yeah realized that the second I posted, my mistake! :P Necormancer for the double pile in would be tasty though!

They definitely don't have the summonable keyword for the Danse. There's really no allies that work well with Fleshies as they stand right now. PErhaps that will change with the new battletome

  4. I'm mostly interested in the rules changes. There's a few things to point out there, like the tokens for a stackable Ferocious Hunger condition.  You've also go Feed On Magic which sounds pretty juicy.  Unholy Vitality and Black Hunger are still there so we still get our old favorites. I'm also willing to bet we will see the ability to take on different aspects of the Courts so maybe our delusions won't be so one sided that we just take on and never look at the others.

We also get endless spells that will, more than likely be situational, but they are fairly cheap and a terrain piece that will probably also be fairly cheap but hopefully allow for some interesting options to play.

I'm pretty excited all in all, for every opportunity they missed we still got a lot of good stuff going on and who knows perhaps more units are opened up to us in the battle tome we just don't have releases for those units.  The sky is the limit until we get the book in our hands.

Well, we can at least assume that based on this des commentary we can go any size, cuz if, you know, you start with 40 and you CAN go over starting size...

Q: Most Flesh-eater Courts abilities only allow you to return slain models to a unit. However, this restriction does not apply to the Drawn to Battle ability of the Ghoul Patrol warscroll battalion. Can I use the ability to take a unit above its starting strength? A: Yes.

Yeah but who has that many ghouls? oh wait, yeah I do lmao. I really need to get movement trays soon

It is pretty brutal raw attack list. With majestic horror you would summon 2x3 horrors and another 3... 480 points charging in from the board edges and since they are out of support range, they have to charge in right away before getting picked off. Or your king has to charge up double time (flayed pennant) to buff them.

Both options seem pretty aggressive to me  ;-D

There are some scenarios where you‘ll need 20 bodies for a capture, but I think you can recapture the point by killing off its „defenders“.  Those scenarios will be tough, but other armies have the same troubles. Played „places of arcane power“ against Khorne... where you‘ll need a caster to score or an hero with artifact. Would have messed up any Kharadron player too. Beastclaw have the same troubles.

Off topic a bit but knowing that there are armies that don't have native casters, Arcane Power seems like a bad move on GWs part.

  7. Looking to take Beasts into a 1k tournament as the Ringer in a couple weeks. I'm wanting to build a list out of what I have, which is atm

    2 Shamans

    Daemon Prince of Tzeentch

    20 Bestigors

    10 Ungors

    10 Ungor Raiders

    Cygor

and 80 points for Endless Spells.

That leaves me a Ghorgon and a Cockatrice to summon in later on.

Does this sound like a decent list to give someone a challenge without steamrolling? Also what artefacts/command traits?

  8. So the Courts are part of Grand Alliance Death, which has its own allegiance abilities, artefacts, etc. YOu can either play them FEC Allegiance or Death allegiance. If FEC Allegiance than you have a limited range of allies. If you play them Death Allegiance you can play them with ANY Death model but you lose out on the Delusions, Majestic Horror, etc.  If your GF wants to play the corpse cart then I highly suggest getting the Legion of Nagash book and playing on of those Allegiances instead.

  9. Played a fun list vs Tzeentch the other night in a 1k Duality of Death game.

    Grand Delusion: Tournament

    Haunter (Dark Wizardry, Flayed Pennant)

    2x Ghoul King

    3x 3 Crypt Horrors

    Geminids

    Emerald Lifeswarm

I didn't win but only because he got a very lucky 6 roll on a bolt of tzeentch to table me, otherwise I had him on points. He got 2 lucky snipes off, killing my General turn 3 and my last king turn 5. I used the 2 summoned ghouls to act as annoyance screens. 1 unit even took down a herald that kept him from scoring one of the objectives the entire game.

It was a fun list, first time I've ever run bulk Ghouls. I think if I were to do it again, I would make a 6 unit and a 3 unit vs 3 units.

  10. So after having some really dissapointing games lately with Nighthaunt I've decided to give one more list a chance to see if it can perform in any capacity except underwhelming. Here's the prototype of the list:

    Allegiance: Nighthaunt
    Mortal Realm: Ulgu

    Leaders
    Dreadblade Harrow (100)
    - General
    - Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts
    - Artefact: Dimensional Blade
    Reikenor the Grimhailer (180)
    - Lore of the Underworlds: Spirit Drain
Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (140)
    - Lore of the Underworlds: Shademist
    - Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Beacon of Nagashizzar
    Spirit Torment (120)
    - Artefact: Midnight Tome

    Battleline
    5 x Hexwraiths (160)
    5 x Hexwraiths (160)
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    20 x Chainrasp Horde (160)
    20 x Grimghast Reapers (280)

    Behemoths
    Black Coach (280)

    Battalions
    Deathriders (130)
    Chainguard (120)

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 2
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 114

Though I will probably switch Shademist to the Torment and take another Lore on the Guardian. It will probably be casting Spectral Lore 90% of the game.

The fact that almost all our buffs and auras are 'wholly within' drives me absolutely crazy, especially when an über faction like DoK doesn't have to worry about it.

Its a struggle I've had. Its hard to keep a 20 man Reaper unit that moves 8 wholly within 12" of a guardian or Spirit Torment when they only move 6". Chainrasps aren't as bad on 25mm bases but those 32s are good sized.

Got a friend that is interested in starting warhammer, more so, the ghosts! Would love some help since im got a Nighthaunt player.

    - do they work in a competitive level by themselves? (No other deaththingy stuff?)

    - What is the overall feel of the army game wise (playstyle, Special abilities and such) that separates them from other armies?

    - if you have time, how would you start your first 1k list? Please send me some tips!

    Cheers!

they are very mid tier at the moment competitive wise but not unfun to play. They really play in a sort of hit and run style where you pop up where needed and hope to score objectives as overall the units don't hit overly hard.

Almost always start with the Soul Wars box and go from there. it gives you a good start

  13. Doing a 1k tournament where I will be the ringer and I wanted to bring my spooky ghosts for the funsies. Here's the list I'm looking at:

Spirit Torment (Ruler of the Spirit Host)

    Guardian of Souls

Knight of Shrouds on Steed (Balefire Blade)

    20 Chainrasp Horde

    20 Grimghast Reapers

    5 Bladeghast Revenants

    Thoughts

  14. I'm currently doing a conversion project and I'm trying to build to a 2k point list with models that I want to convert up but also want to have some fun games with that I won't get smashed off the board. The list is this:

    Lord-Arcanum on Gryph Charger

    Lord Exorcist

    Knight-Incantor

    Knight Incantor

    Celestant Prime

    3x 5 Sequitors

    2x5 Evocators

    Grand Convocation Battalion

    Endless spells:

    Dias arcanum

    Quicksilver Swords

    Geminids

I know the Lord-Exorcist is pretty universally despised but he works with the conversion. The 4 models that absolutely work for the theme of the conversion are the Celestant, Exorcist, Incantor and Arcanum.  I'm not looking to make this the best tourney rocking list but I do wanna have fun when I put it on the table. Also, I will probably be expanding the conversion out as I go but I wanted a 2k list to build for first.
