The new demon prince looks dumb. Like a half godzilla monster half wrestling reject. Not scary at all just goofy and dumb looking.

I play chaos almost exclusively (for now) ... And I for one am thrilled with the new Daemon prince ... Stunning model in perfect keeping with how I want my slaves to darkeness to vibe ... He's old skool chaos and I love it

Oh that’s just the fan hype cycle. That’s been a thing even at the end of 2016:

First half of year fans: “This is amazing! Multiple new battletomes, badass new Ironjawz & Sylvaneth armies, new Silver Tower Warhammer Quest with gorgeous models and extremely fun play both in a group & solo and all wrapped up in a huge global campaign that changed the face of the Mortal Realms! Unbelievable!”

Second half of year focused on 40k and literally written across the AoS official Facebook: “Uhh..GW, hello? Did you forget AoS exists? Are you abandoning us??”

Fans are just greedy dude. Doesn’t matter the franchise or even like AoS3 right now with it’s booming success that’s drawing in a lot of new players.

Greedy? ... More like needy ... I had a girlfriend like that once ... First 6 months of the year she was fine, but then, all of a sudden after I dumped her she started being all "hey have you forgotten about me?' and "I still love you don't ignore me" or "I've slashed your tyres you b*****d" ... Then the hiding in the bushes outside my house ... The constant calls!! .... Never ending text messages! ... It all got too much and I just had to tell her ... NO KYLIE MINOUGUE! ... STOP!!

Mark of a good person.  Kudos for being an adult CarkFish.

Ha! ... Thanks, I just feel very strongly that we should be helping each other here, not using it as a platform to flex our geek superiority for dopamine ... But Gaz was right, I could have handled it better

    Really not impressed here folks.

@CarkFish - Calling somebody a tool isn’t on. If you don’t like how somebody has point their points across, you can express this without name calling. Or better yet, don’t engage and let the Mods know.

@Aezeal - Your attitude here is terrible. If somebody is asking a question they either don’t know the answer or want some reassurance. Whilst GW have made massive improvements in how they lay out their rules, it can still be confusing if you having been playing games long. You can answer the question in a helpful way (such as it’s in the FAQ which can be found on the community site) or not engage.

Now let’s get back on topic..,

My apologies Gaz ... Moving on 🙂

Yeah could be or you are overly sensitively woke, and think that protecting people against minimal justified criticism makes the world better (Hint: it doesn't it just makes them get hurt harder in the end when they do real stupid things because they haven't learned to deal with criticism). I guess we'll never know :D .

But please continue this completely off topic rant, I feel that after ignoring 2 comments a few days ago I'm entitled to a reaction now so I certainly won't. I'm sure it will help you feel more mature not to accept different opinions and freedom of speech (and leave it at that as I suggested).

This hole just gets deeper ... Fun 😜

Yeah did it, don't agree though. An 11- year old that can find this forum should be able to find the official FAQ's of the official GW site and it's literally the first thing mentioned in there and not in a way that can be misinterpreted.  So I feel some small criticism was vaIid. I didn't use swear words (unlike some who call others a tool - which is probably more against the rules of this forum) and basicly only called him a bit lazy so lets keep it at freedom of speech and not get excessively woke just because of some criticism. Criticism isn't bad, it's part of life and to be expected unless you are perfect.

PS in my comment I actually pointed him towards the FAQ/Errata.

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime

Yup, you still come over like tool ... Perhaps it's just you

Is this a serious question? I'm perfectly happy to explain my view on hard to interpret rules or FAQ's or to brainstorm about them.... however.. this question doesn't fit the bill. So I have a question for you: what have you done to find the answer to this Q. I'd like to see all the extensive work you've put in this yourself so we can see where the problem is in your interpretation of the rules, FAQ, errata etc. I think you might even get to the answer yourself.

Dude! ... Do yourself a favour and read your posts back to yourself... You sound like complete tool here

I've still to see any evidence that GW staff are unfairly or underpaid other than from youtubers making claims to get lots of views to make money.

As for balance,it will never be perfect  with so many working parts.

The day I stopped worrying about rules and instead took what I thought looked cool and focused more on narrative the more I enjoyed the hobby.

Rules come and go, cool models and memories of fun games last.

My orruks often charge into combats they shouldn't because that's what orruks should do.

You won't find my skaven warlord anywhere near danger if he can help it  and my noble Knight who leads his flesh eater court will seek out the enemy general to engage in honorable one on one combat.

I appreciate your reply. And you make very valid points...  I would firstly suggest that whilst you may not have seen any "evidence" that staff are underpaid, neither have you seen any that they are not. Additionally, we do as you point out have plenty of claims (for varying motivations) for the former, and none for the latter.

Secondly, I feel you have somewhat missed my point, but that's fine 😉

Honestly I do not (want) to believe the rumor that the only thing BoC are getting is a Jabber model.

The issue with BoC is that they need a total rehaul of every single aspect of the army from the core concept of it. If they are ambushers from the dark then they should ambush better than evryone else, something that is not the case at the moment.  Gw simply did not think out the army as a whole, so it kept dragging itslef out of WHFB with the models basically behaving the same way they did (badly) in the past: small guys in large numebers in the first spot, medium guys in large numbers in a second and bigger guys in a thrid spot... The army is just a mess from all points of view: they have no lore in AoS other than random cannonfodder, they charcaters have no agendas except a random mentioning of Morghur and Krakanrok. The lore talks about ambushing but the game mechanic is basically the same that it as in WHFB. They are a melee army that hits like a wet noodle, and their wrscrolls basically stay untouched since AoS 1.0, and when it actually happened to redesign them they went the wrong way: look at the Jabber boosting the worng army, or the Beastlord who got worse.

It's an army that lacks good characters: all melee ones are garbage, have low damage output, and have low survivability, I mean the lizard-vampire has a 3+ save, while a Shaggoth has a 4+... Come on, some of those guys are older than Kroak...

I'm a big BoC fan, but if this is the plotline the army has to follow, and GW can't sort it out just kill it. I'd prefer that and move the beastmen into the god armies as support troops (tzaangors, slaangors and so on) rather than keep living it the ethernal quagmire.

Last thing, the army is old, most of the models are from 10-20 years old, giving them a new Jabber will not sort out the issues (unless the new Jabber is something like the one in Total War and then you make a spam army of those and look them wrack havoc upon the aenemy but I doubt it). Boc need to be taken by GW to the concept board and think it out if they are to endure, cause at the moment they just lack on all the aspects of the game that matter (not only in terms of how good the army is, but also how good it looks, how interseting to play it is, how cool are they mechanics, and even in terms of lore...)

PS - Unofrtunatelly most of these things are shared with the Skaven at the moment which is weird considering Skaven are one of the GW's favorites.

Ive come to realise over the last few years that all games workshop games are a hot mess! ... A heady mixture of thematic rules written by under paid employees who care deeply about the lore and hobby, and competitive rules written by underpaid staff who just want cool rules.

GW is making a fortune, if they want to continue to do so they must, in my opinion, begin to pay the men and women behind their success not just fairly, but well. And then they must insist on internal and external balancing across all factions being a part of the actual process, and not just an after thought.

Just my opinions ... I never have, and never will work for GW.

I’d reconsider using curse since you have the daemon weapons. Also maybe halberds on the warriors to get as many hits in as you can.  Would love to see more Varanguard but not sure how to fit them in. Good luck!

Yeah in my head The varangusrd are pretty much operating on their own... The warriors will be using curse, doing 5 attacks each with a 3+ ignoring rend -1/2 and the 6++

That’s the spirit, yet My knowledge of slave to darkness isn’t that great.

I do know that the last few known list that have been played with slave to darkness, often went with Archaon and/or belakor as one of their hero option, while the army often went for the mark of tzeentch to be able to re-roll save rolls of 1 and ignore spell effects on a certain roll.

I personally do like your list a lot more then what I have seen lately, yet from a competitive standard, My knowledge stops at the skaven

Thanks screech! ... I think I'd almost prefer to finish last than play the same op list everyone else plays these days if I'm honest

This is why I am typically in favour of soups to be honest, it means that low selling armies will still get rules support and possibly have people give it a second look to add to their larger collection.

I have said this a number of times regarding Choas Dwarves. They could get a lot of support in a Slaves to Darkness army as it is a popular range with dedicated fans and they would gladly add some models to their collection. Furthermore with the right rules you could run a pure Chaos Dwarf army providing fans with the ability to play their preferred faction. It would also not be hard to justify from a lore perspective permitting Chaos Dwarves to be a distinct culture that Archaon has allied with in promise of rewards for the Duardins and firepower for the Slaves to Darkness.

I've been saying this for years! ... Nice to hear someone else feels the same, S2D is a perfect home for a chaos dwarf soft launch, and potentially a permanent place if the rules are right

  14. Evening chaos chaps! .... Quick question if someone would be kind enough to advise me....

    Start of combat phase

    - Chaos lord uses spurred by the gods on varanguard
    - Varanguard fight
    - Varanguard use their own second fight
    - Varanguard use spurred by the gods to fight a third time

    Does this work?

Obviously im assuming they survive the fight backs

Is there a way to make a Mortal Tzeentch list work? Kairic Acolytes/Tzaangors and no allies? Love the Karic models

Pyrofane any good? Maybe guild of summoners for a free Lord of Change?

Its the only daemon I own but I struggle to make a list with that in it. Other heroes I have are Ogroid, Disc Magister, Shaman and Gaunt.

    Thanks

I'd love to run skyfires myself... but there isn't really any support in the sub factions from what I can see

You know, we were talking awhile back about small vs big releases, and a lot of folks thought maybe no BoC because it might be a smaller release coming up due to so many stormcast and kruleboyz coming out. I was wondering if anyone could speak to precedent if it's a split release of some sort, like two waves?

Maybe release the book and a new unit or two now, and then have a second wave that is just replacing existing models next year?  I tend to think they would never release a book with new models that don't exist, but since BoC requires so many resculpts or releases, they theoretically could have a release of just replacing things later. That could, in theory, be the Mino, Doombull, and Jabber that's been mentioned?

IE: this year, if BoC, a few new kits.

Next year, the dual box that includes the three resculpts.

    Thoughts?

You may be on to something ... Allthough perhaps a release akin to the sisters of battle would be more appropriate, it's a way of redoing the whole line with constant marketing over a year or two ....

A new massive Shaggoth as a centrepiece for BOC would be epic!!

There are only 2 Factions in AOS with Beast in the title, Beasts of Chaos and Beastclaw Raiders. I sure hope at least one is updated during Era of the Beast!!

It's got to happen right!? ... I mean, we all remember the tone of Ork releases during Orktober a few years back right!?
