  1. Whew. This was a project. Built from scratch using mostly clanrats and a cheap WWII gun kit I found. A friend suggested to just throw some green stuff ponchos over the arms and put some new hands near the head to look like they're holding the rifles. It looks janky as hell but this was before I invested in a jewelry saw, drummel tool and the like. I'm happy with my first ever kitbash.
  2. Some times I just proxy them for Rattling Gunners. The tiny little rats on the base always make me chuckle.

    Packmasters

More evidence of one too many Island of Blood sets.

    Rat Swarms

Trivia: the holder is made up of old square bases using the tapered edges to my advantage. The models themselves are so forgetable I wanted to make sure they didn't take up so much space.

    Rat Ogres

More exploration with silicon molds. Rat ogres are so expensive per model. Geez. So I went to work to spam the parts that I had. Painting-wise I used this as an exploration in skin tones and fur pairings for later models.
  6. I didn't have THAT many mortar teams to convert but I did have a few. Lets just say I copied quite a few and they turned out great. The simplicity of the model helped retain the quality. Very happy with this crew.
  7. The second large model I painted in my career. I was not confident to try my own color schemes at this point and just wanted to see if I could achieve the stock photo. Honestly my favorite part was making the base. That was my first wholly completed base with mud impressions and everything.
  8. By golly I did it! For those who are familiar with this kit know how crazy those connection points are for the weapons. Even the cables hanging from the arms have some magnets in the brass orb near the hands. Dont know if I'll ever do that again.

    THE SQUAD!

    They're so cool.
  10. I once played him as a nigh indestructible unit with Verminous valor, Ethereal Amulet, the warp lightning sheild and minuses to hit, etc. Was losing to a stardrake and celestant prime and thought to tie them up. I was unabashedly cocky in my approach. Then, the stardrake ate him. Ugh! The model I've had the most fun with through all the years I've had it. Many additions over time, the flame being the first I played with sculpting epoxy to make my own stuff. Also the coil wire I hand-wound out of copper wire and found that glazing hot glue gun sticks make for great class cylinders.
  11. The flag was my first true freehand. The doomwheels banner is too good to pass up. I have no idea where the monster is "from", it was some cheap resin cast from overseas. It was nice that it held up to a heat gun well and got to shape it pretty well. Also not happy with the base. The acrylic pour had some gnarly surface tension at the containment walls at the edges of the base. When I shaved it off, the finish was garbage.
  12. First model I ever bought. Also first introduction to Fine Cast. Yeah never again.
  13. Signs I have one too many Island of Blood kits.
  14. All the work I put into heroes I tried to put into this one. Still learned I need to push contrast more. Bonus: I used the base as a tester for pouring acrylic epoxy for water effect
  15. First ever attempt to create a scene on a base. This was way early in my hobby career and would take another year to even do something like this again. Also, lesson learned to never be afraid to choose a larger base size, guidelines be damned. Give your models some room to breath.
  16. Lore entry: stole a verminlord's trinket to use as a weapon and instrument of authority. The verminlord vows to eat the theif.
  17. Somehow survived calling a Warplightning Vortex upon himself and stopped everything from killing him. He gloats of how invincible he is every game despite dying a great many other times.
  18. I've never had a model explode from eating warp stone than this one. I put him on the table the most and has the least amount of play time. He's consistent? I guess?
