The Cannon and Organ Gun is "last chance to buy", but were recently added into a mercenary company in GHB19.

To be fair GHB2019 also has Greenskinz Matched Play Points

Who were discontinued in January? And they didn't even bother with Last Chance, it was one sudden swoop of removal.

Fireforge Games has some hard plastic fantasy scaled humans about to release for their Forgotten World (lol) game.  They're scheduled for retail release any week now.

I mean heck Fireforge Games entire existence in the past seemed to hinge of poaching bretonnian players since gw was massively neglecting them. Funny how their first set were Teutonic Knights with very distinctive helmets.

Though yea I do also agree if you don't mix too much, any 25-32mm scale is fine. Plus there are 8 realms and who knows how big each realm is. That allows for massive amounts of variatio

As an example, here is a photo from real life of the tallest and shortest man in the 16th Royal Scots.

Now as far as the warband itself goes..... One has to notice a distinct lack of Gors in there. I expected A bestigor and an Ungor sure, but 4 ungors a bestigor and only 1 Gor ?  Well...... hmmmm... who at the same time could pass for a fine Bestigor.

Now I wanna see the rules for these, and hope for some neat syngergies. The Hero looks like something between a shaman and a Bestigor with an Idol/Totem staff and a Ritual dagger.

It's not a gor, it's a Bray Shaman. So I'd guess it'll be 1 Shaman Hero, and then a unit of 1 gor+4 ungor raiders. Which is a pretty silly unit for AoS but the Tzeentch one takes the cake for "what are you suppose to do with this?"

Simple question regarding the sylvaneth wood models: do you really need to buy these plastic models from gw or is it sufficient to make a wood with general trees from normal tabletop terrain stuff in the same size which in the end will look more realistic  and fit besser to other terrain?

I think in a GW store/tournament its a no go but places with more lax use of non-gw models I'd say is a yes.

(or you could go full Smarmy mode and make trees out of spare plastic frames/sprues/runners and claim "it's still 100% GW" 😈)

  6. I don't care about humans in BoC, I just don't understand why the humans get crazy bird things. I mean I think chaos warhounds fit with mortals better than chaos Mighty Ducks. Why not run them as warhound stand ins? Hey don't use perfectly good logic here!🤓

Even Slaughterbrutes have some excuse not being BoC, having to be bound by a powerful chaos champion so I would think beastlords don't want to bother with that.

I'm more excited about new models. They will make great additions to leaders in units.

I heard a rumor that originally the stats for Warbands in AoS were suppose to be unit upgrades (like 1 Liberator unit in your army may be fielded as Steelhearts Champions)

But yea for the most part, assume the warband is a unit filler/variant pose.

Then again though the new Raptoryx who are CLEARLY MONSTERS are Slaves to Darkness only, not Beasts of Chaos. Go figure!

I mean that description..."One of the many forms of wildlife twisted by the power of Chaos"

  8. Yea I recommend not to use LOTR models as they are scaled to 25mm (and more realistic proportions) outside of monsters or using their goblins/orcs as grots.

Everyone else would look small compared to original WFB and even more out of scale with AoS

I mean check out how big this slaughterpriest is with a WFB model. Now imagine a 25mm tall elf!

I *heard* a conspiracy that LOTR is 25mm due to New Line Cinema making sure LOTR wasn't scale compatible with Warhammer to prevent brand mixing. I could be wrong though, thats one of those internet rumors

  9. I'm pretty sure WD rules are matched play legal.

For example they used WD in 40k to expand Crimson Fists and also have the latest rules for Ynnari.

I think the reason why the fyreslayer one seems odd is because the previous WD AoS rules were wonky SCE stormhost rules that basically reuse the original Starter Kit forces with not very good battalions.

If I was up against someone dressed as a Stormcast in a LARP, I would feel more confident than if I was up against someone in guard armour.

The guy in Stormcast armour is severely limited in movement and vision, while the guy in guard armour is dressed in something that is actually fit for purpose.

But then ahain, I really, really dislike the Stormcast/Space marine/Chaos warrior aesthetic.

No offense but any time someone complains about realism in warhammer, I always like to bring up the fact that it would be physically impossible for something like a Giant to exist as it would collapse under its own weight assuming earth gravity.

Also everyone's weapons are ridiculously large that everyone would tire themselves out after 5 minutes of fighting

    I mean compare Warhammer's warhammer

Heck even the old Empire Knights are in Full Plate Armor, yet use shields. Late Medieval Knights/Men at Arms abandoned shields once plate armor got good enough! Those guys are wasting time and effort carrying shields they don't need!

Granted, it might always happen. I just think it wont but I guess we`ll see. Really looking forward to the Free Cities book, though I honestly and truly dislike the fact its a mixed book. Elves, and Dwarves should be their own thing, as should be the Free Cities a purely Empire thing. Why did they include SCE who already have 2 books is also beyond me.

Because it is the Free Cities book. Whether you like it or not, the Free Cities concept is one of the core fluff pillars of Order since the inception of AoS and now they want a proper book to represent that.

And SCE are one of the many fighting forces in their cities and it's almost as if gw wants people to have more excuses to have sce

And while there is the argument for the ally points, I think fluffwise ally points represent a small contingent of allies, rather than full cooperation.

And then theres the rabbit hole of "what truly fits on AoS" that goes in circles, some people reasoning why Greenskinz were squatted, others still clinging onto the hope Dispossessed will get their own book.

You know I'm still even surprised BoC even became a thing and somehow didn't lose a single model outside of characters (still don't understand why they sell Malagor the Dark Omen...but not as Malagor the Dark Omen! Would it hurt to have a single special character!)

  12. Are we talking about mortal/daemon choices?

Need sorcerers. Blades of Putrification is one of the most valuable spells for nurgle, especially if you stack it on attack heavy models like centigors or dragon ogors. Maybe a mortal hero to carry Rustfang since you won't have access to tendrils of atrophy.

  13. Plus one thing about the god battalions is that they're some of the most flexible battalions in the game with all brayherds, warherds, and thunderscorn available (except khorne shaggys. Thats not a thing because wizards!)

I wonder when we'll see this release. I can't think off the top of my head what else is expected this year.

I know Sisters are going to be the big 40k release.

Sylvaneth are out finally, waiting on ogors and shadespire season 3. I imagine free cities and orruks will release together.

Is there anything else major expected. I sure hope we see this new faction/character this year.

The last Malign Portents Herald Army, Everchosen/Chaos Undivided. I would be very surprised if they didn't come out this year (honestly was banking on a Summer release but Warcry took that spot)

I retract my previous statement, LOL!  My FLGS still stocks a healthy supply of that box, so I thought it was still in print.

Yes you can actually get plenty of SC Greenskinz from 3rd party resellers.

And unlike high demand boxes like Carrion Empire, you can get them at MSRP+discount despite their OOP status! Im thinking of getting a bunch in fact.

I think we definitely will see some effects based on city keyword and some based on race/subfaction as well. Similar to how the verminlord warbringer cast dreaded death frenzy on any skaventide but their command ability only effects clan verminus, or how nurgle can be all nurgle, maggotkin only, nurgle demon only, nurgle mortal only etc etc.

Agreed no guarantees, but up until now they have kept the minor subfaction keywords for some allegiances. I think FEC can ally deadwalkers and deathmages but not LoN for example.

I don't think they have ever allowed the full Legions as allies for Death. Namely since LoN as an actual allegiance doesn't exist and it's pretty redundant to print a single legion (I guess print Grand Host?)

We might see battalions that stick to individual factions.

Hopefully in terms of keywords they learned their lesson from BoC battalions. That was a 'fun' RAW vs RAI debate.

(also as an example theres the argument that the Blood Knight Battalion cannot be used for the Soulblight Allegiance)

Also there are some potential risks for rather "bad" decisions: A too strict limitation of Factions to Cities could really to the faction some harm. Imagine you have Dispossesed and Aelfs and cannot find a City which supports both.

I imagine Hammerhal will be the "everyone is welcomed" city as they are right now for all the in book factions.

  18. Well as I mentioned a while ago, if you got a bunch of greenskinz lying around, just use them as bonesplitter stand ins.

Though also to be fair on Sieges, it's something that GW kind of goes on and off about. I mean technically I think nearly everyone uses traditional siege weapons like Rams or Towers or Ladders but GW doesn't feel like making them anymore since they're a bit of a niche (and they'd have to maked themed weapons for everyone). Thats for you the player to do!

I know rather little about AoS Orcs/Orruks, to be honest. I was under the impression that this new battletome will enable you to field "classic" boy hordes (i.e not Black Orcs or Wild Orcs) whereas the currently existing BT Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz don't? Or is this new Battletome literally just a fusion of BT Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz?

As far as we can tell, Greenskinz are dead. They stopped selling them around January, including "Start Collecting! Greenskinz" which was their only re-box.

Thats why someone mentioned how it was a "double standard" that skeletons warriors and elf archers are fine, but orcs aren't.

Now of course the argument is that Greenskinz are too old, only their Boar Boyz are late 7th edition. Everything else was older, even predating the plastic Black Orcs. In addition to comparisons they they don't "add" anything to the table when compared to Bonesplitterz or Ironjawz. Which is why theres potential speculation some Order kits could be dropped with "Role Oversaturation" (how many elite 2 handed weapon heavy armor aelves can we fit?)  or age.

Unless GW does indeed have a grudge with the O&G of old. The ghost of Matt Ward perhaps?

  20. 58 minutes ago, Esmer said:

    Orcs finally becoming permanent additions

Ironjawz were literally created though for AoS? Other than Ard Boyz/Black Orcs, all the IJ line is 100% AoS created. And Bonesplitterz already had a battletome.

I mean over at the Destruction forum.. "(Common) Goblins and (Common) Orcs got Squatted because they're too generic" is a very common post.

All this talk of Glade Guard being removed... don't forget destruction still have old models like  Shootas and Stabbas in their line.

To be fair Plastic Night Goblins were "fairly" recent at 7th edition launch.

I think the problem is that GW sometimes does and sometimes doesn't remove things. Like Slaanesh, they killed off the Chaos Lords, one of which was the Sigvald model from the 7th edition book.

On the other hand Skaven have to rely on so many 6th edition models it isn't even funny....
