I expect pink horrors to become cheaper but less effective so that they are in line points wise with the other basic daemons, so that it makes sense for Gaunt Summoners to work in Khorne, Nurgle and Slaanesh armies too. At the moment they're summoning 180 points of Tzeentch but much less for the other factions

To be fair it is weird for a Gaunt Summoner of TZEENTCH to summon Nurgle daemons!

yeah I though I felt smugness from the comment but I played nice and didn't notice, My Bad

But in all seriousness I don't see why they had to get rid of the GS line. Yes they're old (except the boar boyz) and yes one can argue "they're redundant ruleswise", but I think some tweaks and they could have been an effective "mass model" choice for warclans (especially to ramp up waaagh points).

Meanwhile skaven have multiple metal/resin model UNITS, not even one off models but entire units! Who the heck in their right mind is buying 20+ official gutter runner models!

but they feel like being priced for Archaons host only. Imo they should always get to choose from the circles.

I think that is issue, it's sort of like Blood Knights in LoN. They get specific bonuses for being in Legion of Blood or Soulblight, but aren't really seen outside those two.

Here's a theory - I wonder if 'DISC OF TZEENTCH' will become a keyword, replacing the 'DAEMON' keyword that disc units currently have. The fuzziness of the current system is exactly the sort of thing I'd expect a new book to tidy up - no more daemon spells for Tzaangor Shamans, or casting Fold Reality on Englightened. This'd also let them write a rule for Enlightened like 'Battleline if your general is a DISC OF TZEENTCH ARCANITE HERO', enabling Tzaangor Shamans, Fatemasters and the new Magisters to fill that slot.

Or I could be completely wrong!

Well the Slaves to Darkness Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount still follows the Daemon keyword theme, I think they'll keep the "daemon mount = daemon".

Meanwhile khorne players still grumble that GW decided that Juggernauts aren't daemons.

  5. Well yes I know metal is extremely volatile price wise, especially as Lead became "too dangerous" to use for miniatures so people had to switch to the more expensive Tin.  I was mainly commenting that Metal/Resin was the principle material of choice for Leaders/Characters due to the general economics of "people need 80 space marines, but only 2 chaplains".

One example of this is Necrons, they have 7 special characters alone. Compare that to many AoS factions that have very few (outside of the big story factions), not counting Underworld Warbands.

I'm not saying "everyone needs more special characters!" but I'm pretty sure if metal/resin was still something GW did, each faction would guarantee have 2-3 more characters whether generic or not.

Just wondering, but from what exactly are the marauders gaining an extra rend and a hit role of 3+??

sure you could buff their to wound by one with the mark of khorne, but rend and an extra to hit?, not sure where they get that.

Barbarian Horde ability: "Add 1 to hit rolls for attacks made by this unit while it has at least 10 models. In addition, improve the Rend characteristic of this unit’s melee weapons by 1 while it has at least 20 models."

Thats the thing I wanted to ask for, since as I see the vanilla general traits and items seem pretty cool, especially for more fighty heroes. But that may be my first impression.

I think I worded my post weird, but thats why Bonesplitterz have an advantage, you don't have to take the General Trait if you don't make the specified model the general.

For example Icebone, the General trait is for the Maniak Weirdnob. If you don't take the Maniak Weirdnob as a general, your general can take the Vanilla traits like Master of the Weird. You just have to lug around Kattanak Pelt as the first item.

Another thing to ask: I just got Orruc Warclans Battletome and Im suprised how they changed the way warclans work.  All of them seem equal and useful, despite Bonegrinz being a little disadvantageous. How do those warclans look when compared to vanilla orcs?(assuming you can choose not to use any warclan)

I think the more flexible General Trait system (outside of Bonegrindz) makes them very takeable, if not superior to vanilla. Yes there is the Item tax, but it's usually not too hard to fit in a battalion to get around the first item.

Thats usually where other armies run into issues is that the General Trait half the time isn't very good compared to others. Especially SCE (though thats mainly due to the silliness of Staunch Defender).

Hey anyone considered the forgeworld demon brutes for demon princes? They look awesome and 3 for $115 is actually ok value if you were using them as demon princes. Of course they are missing wings and are on 50mm bases, so they might be a little smaller than youd want?

To be fair Belakor and older daemon princes are on the smaller side as well.

I think as long as the base is suitably decorated (so it looks more than a daemon ogor) it should be fine.

Edit: Does anyone have some good ideas for a Tzeentch list or as allied units in DoT? Mark of Tzeentch feels like the red-headed stepchild (no offense to redheads, I like em).

Well theres the obvious Gaunt Summoner since he can contribute to the Pink/Blue Horror Engine. Chaos Lords can have fun with the Daemonheart.

    - I've read in the pink horror warscroll that "Chaos Wizards know the Summon Pink
Horrors spell, in addition to any others they know." Can we spam it? (once per turn, that means 10*Xturns of pinks? All my chaos wizzard can do this (example: wizzard on manticore, daemon prince etc...)?

You're looking at an old warscroll. At the start of AoS, wizards could summon daemons (and yes seraphon can summon themselves) but that was an Open Play rule/reinforcement point thing.

Those rules no longer exist as AoS 2.0 made summoning "free" (doesn't cost matched play points).

As for the Gaunt Summoner thing, it's a tad confusing but the Gaunt Summoner on Disk is an Everchosen model (which means now he's slaves to darkness). The non-disk Gaunt Summoner isn't, he's just with Tzeentch.

And then theres the Gaunt Summoner with Chaos Familiars....but he's not around anymore.

  12. I think thats always the risk of "going first" in terms of Editions. The rulemakers are still trying to "figure out" how everything shakes up. I think it's a bit obvious SCE and Nighthaunt also suffered similar issues.

Though to be fair meanwhile at the Ogor Mawtribes topic..."thundertusks need to go down 100pts or I won't touch them" ~ paraphrased thundertusk discussion

Also I know it's very taboo but could always write some fanrules. Makes me feel better through the years!

I feel like celestant prime's whole gimmick needs to be reworked. I dont remember where I read it, but someone else put it best, it's such a beautiful centerpiece model, I want it to be on the board! It's so weird to have your coolest model off the table for half of the game.

To be fair it keeps him safe since the big issue with centerpiece models is "shoot or MW it off the board in 1-2 turns", resulting in wanting to get them in CC asap like Gordrakk or Greater Daemons.

Not saying that the deep strike thing is the correct solution I also agree, but he has only a 3+ save keeping him alive.

    Units:

Liberators, Give them "Lock Shields" ability, Start Movement Phase: Move at 1/2, can't run, can't charge, fights last, 2" pilein. But +1 save, re-roll all save rolls till next movement. Now you have really solid boys at price and ability can't be used if they are 'dropped' on objective or somewhere form sky.

While that sounds fluffy, that seems like an overtly complicated rule. This isn't WFB 6th edition!

In comparison the Lethisian Defender allegiance has the Command Ability Onyx Shield wall where a Stormcast hero can give a Liberator units +1 to saves during the enemy's turn but they can't pile in that turn.

So maybe a more streamlined version would be Liberator Shieldwall: At the start of the Hero Phase, Liberator units equipped with Sigmarite Shields may lock their shields together to form a wall. They gain +1 to their Save but may not Charge, Run, or Pile In until the next Hero Phase.

Hero phase is also important in case of any Hero Phase attacking or movement shenanigans.
