Heres my 3 ghost dwarf heroes. Part of my never ending quest to bridge Total Warhammer and AoS. I tried my best to make rules that will play out like Clan Angrund's ancestral heroes. Any proofreading appreciated.

Belegar is pretty much a thane. Just an extra tough dwarf tank with only a couple leadership abilities.

Grimm is the engineer. I wish i could buy an arty buff for him but Lead the Attack will have to do. Other than that he's just a sniper. I gave him extra shot to act as his shotgun. I could cut his 2-handed cog axe for a couple extra points but I chose to stay lore friendly.

Throni is the runesmith. Of course replacing all the "prayer" text with "rune terms". Wrathful invocation already has the rules of the now retired rune of wrath and rune.

Overall just basic archetypes for dwarf hero with the ethereal ability but im very happy to have them represented this well.

(Sorry downloading as pdf squished a lot of words together)

  2. Thanks for the recent reactions, but im sorry to report that my obnoxious giant cogfort was scrapped a while ago.

I just hated the overall look. Ill will be redesigning soon a more modular cogfort specifically to be a warcry board and a 4x6 table crnterpiece.

Tyvm for the details from soulbound. I love gathering clues for what they should look like. And what you described match details from the short stories which is cool.

  3. Lets start sharing our custom Warcry Terrain.  The small board size makes world building much easier than a 4x6 table. It gives all a chance to create realms we have not seen yet.

Heres my Dwarf Brewery with a few pics of the building proccess.

I skipped the starter set when i got this vision in my head. It matches the dimensions of the starter set.

My first game was basically the worst combination I've ever seen.

We played with the starter box set warbands and terrain. I played with the untamed beasts vs the iron golems. The terrain card was 2 big lines of terrain near the board edges and nothign in the middle. The twist was that both player roll a dice and the winner gets a chaotic beast as an extra fighter. The victory condition was that you gain points for each fighter 3" from the ground or higher.

I deployed my fighters on top of the terrain in my deployment area. My opponent couldn't mathematically win the game since I had 10 fighters (9 from the untamed beasts + a fury) vs 8 for him on top of the building round 1. He'd lose if he didn't leave his terrain since I had more fighters, but if he did he wouldn't score enough points to win.

The game ended quickly and we decided to play another one.

Thats sad. Have you played again? I got the battleplan card without terrain cards and it plays great. Ive been teaching my gf so ive picked through the deck quite a bit. Ill slowly add the complexity back.

  5. Which battleplan cards have the best impact on the game in your opinion? Which have led to the most memorable games/moments?

Also, are there any cards you remove from deck? The kind of card that can ruin the game before it starts?

It can be deployment, victory, twist, or terrain. Please include a small card descriptions and why you like them.

I loved the Wind of Fate twist card. Roll 7 initiative dice instead of 6. Just 1 more dice allowed a lot more abilities. Its the kind of twist that makes you rethink your ability combos during the game.

  6. I been doing unit testing on the coffee table.  Just small groups such as infantry vs infantry or shotters vs shooters. No abilities. I tried a lot of fights at relative pts cost. I own NH and Gitz so thats what im testing against.

Overall great job. The shooters and elite infantry seem where they should be. Which means they won in flat open battle. They should win this kind of fight vs NH and GG which are squishy and pay points to have abilities such as horde attacks and flying.

Warriors are to weak. Need +2 HP

Longbeards and hammerers are very strong without an ability. I think they both need to drop to maybe 12 hp.

Ironbreakers are right where they should be. Maybe small point increase.

I still want +1 toughness on all infantry. Nh-gg have low attack, so most attacks were on a 5+ already, but thats how it should be against everyone.

Here is a huge list of Dwarfs runes. These can be used as Runemarks to streamline the cards a little more.

Ill keep editing this reply as I start proxy testing against other factions.

  7. @soak314

    Cool stuff.

Glad to hear about the cannon pushing the action. Creating No-zones is prolly the best compensation for low mobility. I was worried about 3 movement on the army, but Ill make that trade.

I havent tried any ganes yet but I do intend on using your rules only for science.

One more note. Maybe cut most of the leaders. Its to many leaders to balance. I think we only need 2. Longbeard and a range leader.

  8. Wow i was just starting to work on this for my myself. Ty.

Overall amzing work. Almost exactly what i wanted to write myself. Sooooo happy you included slayers and miners. Cannon was a bold choice. Also enjoyed your notes.

    Few ideas.

I would trade Gromril Forged armor for a Quareller/thunderer leader with an abilty to buff range. As you said punchy range makes up for low movement. 3move is very low. Lower than the chaos dwarf from Iron Golems. This will also create very different builds when choosing a range or melee leader.

Rune of accuracy might be more thematic if you reword it to deal more dmg to higher toughness enemies. In lore slayers and cannons target tough enemies. Grudgehammer Torpedo should have this as well

    Love the miner ability.

Love the resolute in defense ability. Requiring first action as wait is good wording.

Id like to see the leadership abilty be a big aoe toughness buff. Being super tanky is my fav aspect of dwarfs.

  9. Hi everyone. Just wanted to tell my sad story.

I wanted to play warhammer as a kid but couldnt afford it. As an adult I started playing TotalWarhammer on PC and fell in love. I played Dwarf almost exclusively for 2.5years until I order a unit warriors. I was immediatly hooked and set on the quest to recreate my PC army fir tabletop. Now, about 1.5 years into the hobby I have one 6pts of mixed duardin, mostly dispo.

Mission accomplished. Here is my army compared to TWW.20190527_212341.jpg.12d570ab888f67e63a38fd49b722bae1.jpg20190530_230100.jpg.3af7e155462ad0386a96608e2513f003.jpg

Then GW dropped the axe while i was painting 30 thunders. Id only played 1 games so far. I was sure Dwarf would be taken care of after seeing how well goblins were treated.

Brand new hobby, brand new to painting. Big fail.

Trying to stay motivated. Im very excited for Warcry. Here is my Dwarf Brewery Warcry board wip.20190811_093823.jpg.9f284144b721b2c635d49c50acd085c3.jpg

Also Id like to start writing custom Dispossesed Warcry cards. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thx for reading.

  10. Played first game today. My gitz beat nh. My warband was 1 leader, 3 nettas, 10 stabbas.

Even though the warband is just the spare grots i had on the shelf i have high hopes. 3dmg crits on stabbas is amazing fkr 70pts. My 10 stabbas with spammable buffs put out so many atttacks that the crits beat out the rez's of NH.

Nets are great. 45 points and a Double can lock down a high value target a long time. Just park a nettas 3" away and spam net. I got lucky to spam net on a reaper to avoid Reap Like Corn most of the game. Although it hit me once, killng 4 grots and dealing big dmg to my leader.

Overall having more models won the game. Getting an extra 5 models to activate every round helps a lot.

  11. I gave my vote to Chamon.

In terms of concept, Chamon is the most surreal and high fantasy. Its described as many floating planes. It also has the most dynamic terrain with potential to completely tramute. Best example being what happened to form The Spiral Crux.

Of course not all realms have been fleshed out evenly, but we can still compare concepts.

What has been fleshed out makes other realms feel like flat-earths.

Shyish would be my close second and also maybe less flat-earthy. The concept of subrealms coalencing from faith is great.

  12. Kind of dwarf news.

Definatly give this Stormcast a listen. Super old school mini designer talk about making minis since before GW existed.

There is a lot of dwarf talk. Specifically how the models changed over the year. Mostly talking Fyreslayers.

No obvious "winking" hints about dispossessed, but there is alot if talk about the reasons we need dwarfs back. Such as, history, the narrative of slayers, and how new modeling techniques makes revisiting old ideas fun again.

  13. Any Total Warhammer fans?

Heres my TWW Anvil of Doom. Wip. Im just excited to post it. Still needs touch ups and highlights. The other thronebearers are unpainted still.

This is the center piece for my Old World/AoS/TWW hybrid army.
