  1. When I finish my KO warband I was thinking about doing a warband of some snake ladies next. Always wanted to get a box of those but I couldn't be bothered to collect an army. I was thinking:

    Gorgai

    3x blood sisters

1 blood stalker (sit on objective and take pot shots at whoever)

1 sisters of slaughter/barbed whip and knife

should be 980 or so points. Might not be the most competitive list but would it be not be entirely terrible?

Idea was to get one box of melusai and the WH underworlds box and call it done. But really the melusai are the key miniatures that make me want to even collect this warband.

edit: was on varanscribe and noticed the newer melusai ironscale has a points value. Don't recall seeing it's statline or any news about that model getting rules for this game, did it get rules in white dwarf or something? Is that leader even any good?

  2. I was gifted a pack of KO cards for warcry, so it looks like i'll be starting this game. Anyone know if these cards are still valid or are they useless since the sentinel of order book has their rules (along with new leaders apparently)?

I got a box of 5 thunderers, a box of arkanauts and a box of 3 skyriggers (not sure how to build them yet).

  3. Unfortunately I blew a ton of money on my other projects a month or two ago and now i'm hurting to afford the starter box. I'm scrambling to sell off any unused stuff or cobble together funds so I can get it. 150+ bucks for a new game is a lot of money for me right now. If I hadn't have blown a similar amount of money on blood bowl I would be in a better spot.

GW is releasing so much new stuff all the time I just can't keep up with it, some stuff is going to have to go.

  4. I'd like to see a full blown Chaos Dwarf warband, the single one in the iron golems warband lacks the things that I kinda liked about them. The braided beards tusks and mutations need to come back. Or they could do more weird things with them.

Or maybe stabba is just the name for the unit regardless of how they are armed.

Well the current moonclan grot warscroll i'm looking at lists the spears as "pokin spears" and the alternative is the stabbas, which are meant to be the swords. So unless they change the warscroll in the new book the stabbas appear to be the sword option.

  6. So the loon boss supposedly buffs stabbas and the terrain piece lets you bring back stabbas/shootas. Am I right in assuming stabbas instead of spears are sounding like the ideal build option for the core of a new players army? A lot of players seemed to have built their armies around the spear units but maybe GW is doing this to make people buy whole new sets of grots, akin to rebuying a portion of your army over again.

My local gaming store has the prices for the first wave:

    Fanatics 32,50€

    Loon shrine 45€

    Spells 25€

    Squig Hoppers 40€

    Skragrott 25€

    Squig herd 35€

Well that is all discouraging, I sure hope the hoppers box includes 10 models. Also the price on the squig herd is a bit much. The squigs aren't even very large. I guess it's going to depend on how many of these things you need, cause this is starting to seem like a mass horde army with increasingly expensive models.  Hopefully the conversion to us dollars isn't too severe.

So the Gloomspite Gitz have tempted me to finally get serious about starting an AoS army.

Ive done Night Goblins before, a long time ago, for WFB.

So, I’m sitting on 40 Moonclan Grots. What’s the best way to build them? Spears or hand weapons?

This is what I want to know. I'm not sure if the warscroll for the basic moonclan grots will change much. Though I kind of doubt it will. But If I want to pick up a couple boxes of these little gits i'd  hope to be building them with the more optimal choices in mind. Also, does it matter which weapon the banner guys are built with, if the banner/special guys are in a spearman grot unit then they should technically have spears with their right arm as well?

  9. The current moonclan grot kit is fine, almost timeless. They could use better hoods, noses, details and bits...but its a great kit even after all these years. Except just like skaven clanrats you can tell they were sculpted with a rank and file pose in mind, so when based and arranged in the AoS format I feel like they could use more pose variety. The clanrats are worse though, cause they have the one foot forward pose.

  10. The more I think about it the more I dislike those squig dice. They don't look like they'd roll right, are too busy...just not pleasing to the eye. They shoulda done them like the blood bowl goblin dice. All black, yellow pips and on the 6 have the wacky bad moon sneering up at you. Just another swing and miss in terms of AoS dice on top of the bad idoneth dice as well. Necromunda on the other hand along with Adeptus Titanicus continue to get the best looking dice on the market.

I guess they would make okay wound markers though, or something like that.

I believe that the Chainrasp are all on their own sprue in the starter so my reasoning leads to doubtful.

I'm pretty sure even the Grimghast Reapers just previewed are the same sculpts from the starter.

    Could be wrong...

Yeah that is what had me worried, but the grimghast appear to be different...notice the death bell the leader uses. The differences are subtle but their description points to them being slightly more customizable.

  12. I get a saturday morning cartoon vibe from the nighthaunt spells, and not the horror vibe I would want from anything added to the death faction. AoS really feels like their most kid friendly game, a lot of this stuff would have looked way out of place in WHF. But oh well, just gotta pick and choose the stuff I do like I guess...maybe a good paintjob will save some of these.

  13. Do you guys think nighthaunt will get a multi part chainrasp hordes kit? I mean considering they are the main battleline unit and you would kinda want to run 20-40 of them I would hope they would give us more variety than 10 duplicate basic sculpts in the starter set. They look kind of bland cause they are all floating to their right, heads angled to the left.

I have to say, Hordes put me off, but I guess if that's their schtick it's a solid GW business decision. I was hoping the resurrection was a solid way to represent endless legions without resorting gigantic mounds of plastic.

I'll stick with my game-plan and run Hexwraiths and Spirit Hosts, maybe some Grimghast Reapers if I need another battleline. But I don't think I'm going to run any units >20 models. I don't have it in me. Hopefully that won't nerf me too hard, will just have to wait and see what the Battletome brings!

Yeah hordes are off putting to me simply cause I don't like moving so many models during a game, also painting and storing them. I mean a blob of 30 skeletons or chainrasps is okay.  But if you double or triple that then its too much for me. I'm kinda waiting on the actual nighthaunt battletome to see if they are an army worth investing in, I want to see what 1k-1500 point lists for them will be looking like.

  15. I'd rather them have at least some downsides or not be good at everything, or basically be overpowered. Otherwise you'll get people playing them who don't even care about the army, just the power gaming aspect.

Have there been any reputable murmurs about Exodites, or is that just your hope?

There is an eldar looking rumor engine, other than that nothing i've heard of. Exodes would be nifty though, so would sisters of battle. But from the sounds of it tomorrow is going to be an exciting day regardless.

Last year they showed the whole KO range. We’ll see something.

True, I guess we'll find out over the next few hours or so. I do remember there was a KO teaser/reveal before the full reveal posted on the community site though..if my memory serves me correctly.
