Adam IFG
Hi all - thought i would deidcated a thread to all our gaming for the Season of War campaign So without further ado Game 1 - Khorne Alliance vs Dispossessed Duradin First game of the campaign was Lee Taylor's Khorne Alliance vs Tony Taylor's Dispossessed Duradin and was also the first game at the club using the new "match play"This a brief AAR, but Lee made early success charging his Bloodletters and Bloodthirster of Wrath at Tony's Iron Drakes who manned a DeathWatch Kneel, making short work of them. But His Bloodthirster became a early casualty from some serious concentrated Duradin firepower.Meanwhile on the right flank, Lee's Khorgoroths smashed down Tony's Gyrocopter but revenge was swift with a unit of Hammerers and 3 characters felling the Demonic Beasts. Lee tried to retaliate with Bloodwarriors who while making considerable damaged, were soon brought down.On the left flank, Bloodreavers supported by a Bloodsecrator charged into Duardin Warriors, and over the course of a couple of turns had swiftly dispatched them but inflicted serious casualties from supporting Organ gun fire.Back on the Centre of the battlefield. Bloodletters cut down a unit of Slayers and tried to support the right flank but too were felled by the Hammers and heroes who surely swept round and finished of the Bloodreavers.A brilliant, bloody game all round! And a minor victory to Order!
Adam IFG
Game 2: Order Alliance vs Chaos Alliance The Second Battle of the Campaign was Adam Isherwood's Celestial Vindicator/ Sylvaneth Alliance vs Tony Taylor's Chaos Alliance. Adam tried to make a early heavy hit by ambushing Tony's Bloodsecrator with Tree Revenants from a forest cluster but the Totem wielder managed to escape the attack and the Revenants found themselves staring up at a Khorne Daemon Prince! The unit was cut to shreds without mercy except for a brave scion that managed to hold out for 3 turns on a single wound, and even managed to knock a few wounds off the beast!Back in the centre, the tide of Bloodletters surged forwards, poor shooting from the Kurnoth Hunters allowed the horde to hit the shield line at almost full force. On the left flank, the Retributors and Lord Celestant made short work of a unit of Bloodletters before slamming into a unit of Blightkings who dealt a heavy blow to the Lord Celestant who after one round was barely holding on to his life!On the right flank, the Daemon prince on dispatching the Tree Revenants gave the unit of Liberators some relief as they only had to manage against a unit of Bloodreavers but their overestimation of their abilities led to their downfalls and slowly but surely, with the support of a Bloodstoker, they were brought down.In the Centre, the Liberators had early success agains the red tide, inflicting many casualties but the Blood God was watching over his children and using their infernal banner, brought he fallen back into the fold. The Resurgance of numbers proved fatal for the Liberators who surely fell to the wieght in numbers.Back on the Left flank, the Lord Celestant fell to the poisens of the Blightkings and while was revenged by the Retributors, the success was short lived as more Bloodletters poured into the Retributors flank. With just the Kurnoth Hunters left, holding the Occulum, they died valiantly as the Red tide poured over...A very "painful" game for Adam but enjoyable none the less. With a solid major victory to the forces of Chaos!
Adam IFG
Game 3: Order Alliance vs Legions of Azgoth The game was Adam Isherwood's Order Alliance vs Tony Taylor's Legions of Azgoth - 1,000pt Match Play. The game began with Tony pushing the Fireborn up the left flank, hoping to neutralise the Stormcast and Slyvaneth archers but a punishing volley from the Kurnoth Hunters saw heavy damage to the unit who was than mopped up by the Freeguild handgunners.Meanwhile in the centre and right flank - the Chaos Dwarf lord slammed into the Retributors who at first took the upper hand in the melee. A unit of Liberators also moved in to support but where cut down by the Chaos lord. The Lord Relictor also moved in to cast lightening on the chaos lord but was hit by a volley from the shriecker rocket launcher and was badly wounded.Sensing the right flank failing for Order, the Fireglaives moved from the ruins and began to push forward. Sensing he was in trouble, the Chaos lord withdrew from the frontline but was shot down by the Kurnoth Hunters. The lone Retributor remaining surged ahead to strike at the daemon engine and while inflicted damage was brought down by its crew. The Judicators and Kurnoth Hunters inflicted heavy casualties into the Fireglaives who in turn cut down the remaining freeguild handgunners before finally being wiped out themselves. With victory in sight the Kurnoth Hunters, Judicators and Lord Relictor moved in on the Daemonsmith and Rocket launcher but they overestimated how dug in the infernal artillery was and was struck down by devastating bombardments.A very very close game with the Chaos Dwarfs just snatching victory. Adam IFG
Game 4: Order Alliance vs Khorne Bloodbound I was playing Order - a alliance between Celestial Vindicators and Sylvaneth vs my opponent was my partner Bianca Mallick who used Chaos alliance of Khorne Bloodbound and Nurgle Rotbringers.Just a straight forward pitched battle, had early success with my Retributors felling a Khorne Daemon prince. But my Sylvaneth Tree Revenants tried to sneak up from the back of the battlefield and was cut down by Blood Warriors.Meanwhile the chaos pushed towards my Stormcast frontline, my Judicators and Prosecutors managing to inflict some ranged damage against her Blood Reavers and Khorgoroth.Sadly when the the lines clashed, my dice rolls for my saves where appalling with her Mighty Lord Khorne cuting down a unit of my liberators and swept on into my Judicators. At the same time my equally bad dice rolling saw over the course of a 2 turns my last unit of liberators being chewed up by Blood Reavers supported by a Bloodsecrator. On the Left flank, my Lord Celestant and Retributors clashed with her Blightkings and Chaos Warriors. While for the first round of combat i managed to do plenty of damage, sadly poor saving rolls on my part saw the Blightkings cutting down my Lord Celestant and sweeping round to engulf and destroy my Retributors.I Charged my Prosecutors and Lord Relictor into the centre melee, hoping to give the last of my Liberators some relief but she reinforced her Blood Reavers with Blood Warriors, Bloodstoker and a Khorgoroth that quickly cut down the last of my forces. Adam IFG
AoS - Season of War - Game 5: Stormcast Eternals vs Moonclan Grots 500pts Matched Play In the shattered remains of a Chaos temple, the Moonclan Grots's Shaman searches fervently for forbidden magicks. But a journeying patrol of Celestial Vindicators spot them and will not allow the Grots to escape with heretical power. Today's game was Adam Isherwood's Celestial Vindicators vs Curtis Tandoh's Moonclan Grots. The game began with the Liberators moving up to hold the valley choke points in the centre, ready to take the charge from Grot spearmen. Meanwhile on the left flank, the Judicators unleashed a volley at the Grot archers upon the skull temple, while the attack itself did not cause much damage, the Grot archers where clearly shaken and many fled. Meanwhile back in the centre the Grots concentrated on the Liberators on the far right but hesitated to charge. Seeing the chance the Liberators took the offensive and slammed into the centre Grot Spearmen, causing many casualties. As the centre melee continued, the other unit of Liberators moved around the left flank in haste to support their brothers in arms while the Lord Relictor unleashed lightening into the Spearmen. At first the Liberators thought they wouldn't need help but they counted their blessings too early and the second unit of Spearmen slammed into their right flank, wiping them out to a man. The death of their brothers enraged the remaining Liberators who charged into the fray, reeking bloody vengeance, scattering the two units to the hills. A very quick bloody game with victory to the Stormcast Eternals. This marks the last game of Season of War for IFG with the end tally at 3 victories to Chaos and 2 victories to Order.
