  1. Wow! Just had a huge run on tickets and we are now sold out. I've even opened up a couple of extra places and they were taken straight away.

If anyone still really wants to come but didn't get a ticket, then leave a message here and I'll add you to a very short reserves list in case of drop outs

If anyone can give Powerstranger (Bart) a lift from Sheffield (the post above this) he would be very grateful and it would save him a hotel fee

  2. NOW WITH SUNDAY ROAST LUNCH

I have done a slight change to the pack - updated to v1.2 there are no differences in the rules, but now lunch is a Sunday roast lunch at the pub next door included in the price! You will have a choice of:
Roast Pork & Apple Sauce - selection of vegetables and potatoes
Roast Beef & Yorkshire Puddings - selection of vegetables and potatoes
Homemade Steak & Potato Pie - vegetables and chips, mash or new potatoes
Vegetable Lasagne - with garlic bread and salad
Five Bean Chilli - wild rice and pitta

9 places left at time of this post

  3. OK, so getting back on topic. A query about this Facehammer GT event. I don't think this has been covered previously, but I know someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

So you rock up to the table with your two army lists, and your opponent turns up with his two. What's the process for deciding which list you are going to play? Obviously there is a big advantage to choosing second, once your opponent has declared which list he is going to use.

I would suggest that you roll off, and the loser has to declare first which of their lists they are using. What do you think Mr T.O. @Terry Pike? Or maybe you both secretly choose and then reveal simultaneously? Hmmm. I quite like that 2nd one.

Hey guys, hopefully going to register for this soon! What's your stance on the State Troop Detachment + using freeguild units to fill it? See this thread for details

Hmmm. Interesting one this. It took me a while to get my head around the problem, but I see it clearly now. I can fully see and appreciate both points of view. My feeling is that, because the stats are identical (as far as I can see) between the relevant 'Empire' and 'Freeguild' units I will allow it. I know some people have problems with this battalion, but I am going to allow the use of the 'State Troop Detachment' using the Freeguild units. If it turns out that this combo is totally OP and broken, well so be it. I'd love to see it at work anyway. I find that only when people have played the list a few times do you get to really find out if it works. Mathshammer/theoryhammer often breaks down in actual play, and there's always a counter to any army. So bring it on!

Just seen in the pack that Compendium warscrolls aren't allowed... why is this?

Not exactly sure, just a vague feeling that we should be moving on to the 'new' AoS and letting the legacy stuff naturally atrophy. Plus, several events are putting restrictions on Legacy stuff now. However, I have no strong feeling either way. I'm open to persuasion, so if you have some great reasons for allowing Legacy, then let's hear them and I may well allow them.

To be fair, at the last event I ran, they weren't allowed but Steve Wren turned up with a legacy army anyway (helps if you read the Pack before you get to the event) and we were fine for him to play. Mind you it was Steve Wren........

If we are to allow Legacy stuff, would you want ALL Legacy allowed (Including Hellcannons etc) or are you just angling after Tomb Kings and Bretonnians being allowed?

This sounds like a GREAT excuse to visit my parents on the Saturday and then smash some games out pre clash! I'm putting a team together from Angel Wargamers and Yorick Gaming... how would you feel about YouTube coverage on the day (depending on the others' avails ofc)?

YouTube coverage would be fab! The more exposure we get, the faster the scene grows. So would love to have you along and doing your 'thing'.

The General's Handbook has been out for a while now, and most people to seem to think it works pretty well, so it's time I ran a tournament with it. There's been several 2000 point tourneys, so I thought we'd have some variety and pack 5 games of 1000 points into a single day - 'Fast & Furious'!

    Game System: Age of Sigmar
    Date: Sunday 23rd October 2016

    No. of Games: 5

    Cost: £15

This is a relaxed tournament designed for players wanting a fun day of AoS AND for those tournament regulars who like a competitive game. Although there are prizes for the best game results in each Grand Alliance, you'll need to be a fully rounded player to win overall as there are Tournament points for painting, sporting and admin as well as for gaming.

We'll play 5 randomly selected scenarios from the General's Handbook slightly modified to work better at 1000 points.

The complete Comp Pack with full details and scenarios is at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fu003kfipip4qxe/Fast %26 Furious v1.3.doc?dl=0

Please have a thorough read through it. It is currently v1.3 - this should be the final version, but do let me know if you spot errors or have queries.

Refreshments are provided all day in the price. We have an agreement with the pub next door so you can buy beer etc. there and drink it at the venue. Lunch is included in the price and is a Sunday Roast Dinner at the Red Lion pub next door with a choice of :

Roast Beef & Yorkshire Puddings - selection of vegetables and potatoes
Homemade Steak & Potato Pie - vegetables and chips, mash or new potatoes
Vegetable Lasagne - with garlic bread and salad

3 weeks without an AoS release and the withdrawal symptoms are killing us. I'm almost at the point of buying Fyreslayers....

    I need help.

Sit down. Take a deep breath. Pour yourself a glass of good wine. Sip. Enjoy.

    Those crazy feelings will pass

  10. Thanks for great game Joe. Was most tactical game I've had for quite a while. The combo of you getting turn 2, and then realising what you could do with the Chamo skinks was massive, and very well played. Lots of fun taking your monsters off, even if it was irrelevant to the final result! Congrats on first place. So that's one game each - I look forward to our next meeting, the decider.

Not sure I can see this in the GH errata specifically? Doesn't mention anything about over multiple/tournament games. Happy either way, just don't think it's clarified yet.

I just listened to the latest Bravery 1 podcast. Listening to them they seemed pretty certain that you can change your allegiance and therefore artefacts/spells/traits at the start of every game - even through a tournament. However anyone who believes Nathan and Joe........

I guess it will depend on what info you have to put on your Army Roster for the tournament. If you have to put down your allegiance and artefacts/spells/traits on the roster submitted to the TO, then it's fixed for the event, but if you only need to have your units and general on it then you can change each game.

Ben, I'm sure you'd guessed, but for the entrants list 2 x Soup Dragon is Luke and Paul Whitehead - not to be confused with SoupDragon (no space in the middle) who is a completely different person.

Also, could you update the entrants list - my mate Daniel Oldfield has paid, but is worried as his name is not on the list (this will only be his 2nd tournament so he still worries about everything) - cheers

This is all clear in the handbook. I'll make a post later in the week to clarify.

So I've been looking at the Handbook and for Allegiance abilities - Command traits, artefacts and spells it says you can either choose them or roll for them at the beginning of the game. So, please can you clarify

    1. Are we choosing them or rolling for them?

    2. Are we doing that at the start of the tournament and sticking with the same ones every game or can we change it every game?

    Cheers

  13. Quick Question. For artefacts, do we choose them ourselves (and if so can we choose different ones for each game, or have to stick to same one for all 3 games) or do we roll a D6 for them (and again, do we do this once before we start, or at the start of each game)?

Same question too for the Magic lores and command abilities that the new Battletomes (Sylvaneth and Bonesplitterz) allow - how are they to be chosen?

  14. AGOM events are always brilliant, so I fully recommend everyone to come and play at this one. I've already got tickets for myself and Luke. Only 6 days to go until General's Handbook released, then I can hide myself away to come up with a suitably awesome (fluffy?) list.

  15. I tend to use Twitter, so promoted it mainly there - I am @SkepticScouter also was posted here. But mainly the thread on WHF was where I did most of the work. Which 3 big AoS communities do you mean?

I'm hoping to run another one in a few months, so tell me where you want notifications and I'll put them there. Though I know Ben is hoping that gradually all AoS event info will be posted here on Alliance.

  16. So I just want to give this event (which I am running) an extra push. This is now the ONLY AoS event in the North of England until AGOM in November!! The atmosphere will be very relaxed, ideal for anyone who has never been to an event before. Also I and others are using it as a 'try-out' event to see how some models I never normally use will perform (I'm looking at you Merwyrm!).

So whether you fancy 3 casual games with like-minded friendlies, want to try out some new models for fun, or want to bring the latest filth,  we'll match you up accordingly so there's something for everyone.

Home made lunch is provided, and the pub is right next door for those who like a tipple as they play

Go to http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=133473 for sign up details.

  17. At the risk of being labelled a pedant, can I just mention that the 24th-26th November dates in the original post above are the Thursday, Friday, Saturday that week. I'm guessing that Ben actually meant to post the dates as 25th - 27th. i.e. Friday to Sunday?

I'll be there regardless - even if it means taking extra days off work
