Yes, the ability allows you to change a single dice roll following the parameters given to the valid result of your choosing. As the ability says: "in either player's turn, if this model is on the battlefield, you can replace a single dice" you can choose it to be an opponent's dice roll and there is nothing there to suggest otherwise.

The fact Kairos can manipulate the opponent's roll fits with his lore and the ability flavour text so there should be no dispute.

    You'd be surprised..... Haha

  2. BoC has been out for a good while now what are your guy's opinion on greatfrays? Which one is an auto take? And if so what units do you play with that greatfray? For me I  play darkwalkers with a Tzaangor bomb mixed with Warherd ambushing squad for 2k points even and have had great success!

  3. So it's been awhile since I've browsed this chat and I've had a few questions for the khorne community. First off are we not able to run Goreglaives in units if 5 man squads? And for tournaments be it 1k or 2k are people trying to abuse summoning or are we still looking at battalions? Thanks and happy holidays!

Well, then we have to establish what a „real“ monster mash list is supposed to look like first.

Of course you can’t have all the beasts and buckets of ghouls, but it is possible to walk the line effectively.

And also this depends on your opponents army, list and skillz.

GkoZD (MH), GkoTg, GkoTg, GC, 3x10 Ghouls, GP... 1800 points

I‘d up one ghoul squat to 20 and get another courtier. 1980 pts

strategy: 10g on the board homebase with GC, 20g for aggressive ambush with GC, 10g for defensive ambush. Gks ready to rock. First turn gkozd calls two varghulf one for the aggressive 20g, one for the...gkotg summons horrors.

general mayhem commences, round two second gkotg summons second horror squad. General mayhem continues... homeghouls should be nearing the 20 mark, whatever happened to the others.

During round 3 I probably should have lost my general gkozd due to distraction carnifex charge and if things were tough the aggressive 20g with GC and v got finally wiped. Maybe even the death of gkotg1... but I should have been scoring on 3/4 objectives for 3 turns... while s/he tried to get out of the aggressive ambush on the homebase and the triple bowling ball monsters.

That‘s the theory at least, fail the charges, superb counter deployment, op sun-tzu-ing... and your left with 40 ghouls on your homebase wondering what happened

With crusading army you get to reroll failed charges. So unlikely you'll fail. I recommend only summoning 1 VC and make the general a GKoTG to summon more bodies to the field. As we have an extra GC for the home field ghouls. And to keep the pressure up you can instead throw in another GK on foot and summon more ghouls just for more pressure later on. It's a great list for attrition as your units won't stay down easily and even if the opponent is rolling nothing but sixes they are still choosing between multiple threats all across the board!

You can, but it is tricky to pull off. If you deploy the patrol relatively defensively, maybe even with one unit starting on the board...

sacrifice one unit to buff up the other ones, all depends on the pressure and you „adding“ d6, but as usual, who rolls most sixes tends to win.

If you add only 1-2 per round nobody cares (well, except you) if you get 5-6...

Such lists are high risk high reward, if you pull it off, great, but if your opponent is able to wipe two units off the board and sits nice and tight on the objectives, you‘re in deep

I half agree with this. I don't feel it's as risky as advertised. I feel it puts your opponent in a position to choose where they focus or split their focus. Either on the slow or fast growing ghoul force that is on their side of the table or the monsters on the other end summoning support and more bodies while being major threats themselves. And if the opponent is unable to completely kill off the ghouls between two courtiers they will regenerate pretty quickly.

What I meant is I feel that ghoul patrol needs lots of ghouls to really be worth the cost of the battallion. And it’s hard to find the points for enough ghouls if you need 4 big monsters

And the strength from ghoul patrol isn't maxing out the ghouls it's the fact that you are getting more ghouls for the points you pay for them which is screaming value. And if your opponent wastes a damage  trying to wipe them from the table and fail they are popping back up real fast and growing on top of that. I feel the combination of monster mash and ghoul patrol is far better than one or the other!

You can’t run a decent ghoul patrol and still have space for 4 big guys

Well it goes with the philosophy of running min battleline while also running max monsters. And with this battalion it gives your ghouls some staying power and the chance to become a threat on their own.

LOL I don't see any armies using Ghoul Patrol doing any better. I honestly think it probably came down to player skill/meta match up. At the top levels in any competitive game it comes down to how well you play as long as you bring the proper tools for the job.

I'm not saying ghoul patrol and nothing else I'm saying monster mash in cahoots with ghoul patrol giving your opponent an imminent threat and a growing threat. And then with Arkhan providing all the spells needed to be cast! Not only that your army has deep strike and with the two courtiers you summon won't die off unless your opponent focuses them.

  8. Has anybody tried merging Monster Mash with ghoul patrol?

This is the list I'm thinking:

GkoTG- general, majestic horror, Flayed pennant (400)

    GkoTG- grim Garland (400)

    GKoZD- (440)

    Crypt ghast courtier- (80)

    (Optional) GKoF- (140)

    Battleline:

    3x10 Ghouls (300)

    Battalion

    Ghoul patrol (180)

1940 points +2CP ( first turn maximum summoning)

This will give your whole army the chance to outflank and if any of the ghouls from ghoul patrol survive you get d6 a turn and with two courtiers next to them with 12 dice needing 2+ to heal the ghouls isn't bad. And on top of that you add three units of horrors for free.

Arkhan brings spells, unbind, another wizard and against nagash brings hand of dust as a counter. Personally I need to see this list in action against daughters and deepkin because I don’t see how all monsters is good. But apparently it is

Well in that case why wouldn't you just put a fourth ghoul King on TG or ZD as they would help add to the board. And you would still have enough for a cogs or another endless spell

  10. What does monster mash do? (except everything I look for in a list with an elite army that brings a bunch of units to the table). What does Arkhan add that another ghoul King wouldn't? And why bring the endless spells chromantic cogs and Quicksilver swords do that a courtier or two couldn't?

I think Ghoul Patrol is our best battalion by a wide margin. The two main strengths of this current iteration of FEC is our board control with attrition and our big baddies that can summon.  Lists with a combo of big monsters and hordes of Ghouls seem to be our best builds right now.

I can see ghoul patrol being good with the D6 extra models a turn and with the FAQ saying that it can put the unit above starting strength (which is awesome!) But with that how big should the ghouls in ghoul patrol be?

  12. So I'm considering getting into FEC. I plan on getting two of the SC boxesand the feast box that comes with 20 ghouls and 3 crypt haunters and probably kitbashing a crypt ghast courtier and crypt haunters coutier. I was wondering going down the ghouls and haunter route: 1. Is it worth it? 2. What battalion out of attendants of the court, abatoir and ghoul patrol is better? Or if I should just model spam and forget the battalions?
