I've been thinking on something like this:

    Allegiance: Tzeentch
    Mortal Realm: Chamon

    Leaders
    Gaunt Summoner (160)
    - General
    - Trait: Arcane Sacrifice
    - Artefact: Paradoxical Shield
    - Lore of Change: Fold Reality
    Tzaangor Shaman (160)
    - Lore of Fate: Shield of Fate
    Curseling, Eye of Tzeentch (160)
    - Artefact: Alchemical Chain
    - Lore of Fate: Arcane Suggestion
    Great-Bray Shaman (100)
    - Allies

    Battleline
    30 x Tzaangors (480)
    10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (180)
    - Lore of Change: Bolt of Tzeentch
    5 x Chaos Warriors (90)
    - Hand Weapon & Shield

    Units
    3 x Tzaangor Skyfires (200)
    6 x Tzaangor Enlightened on Disc (320)

    Battalions
    Tzaangor Coven (110)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Balewind Vortex (40)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 100 / 400
    Wounds: 137

The idea is simple, big blob of Tzaangors with Tzaangor Coven. As the bases are 32mm, it's hard to pile in everything, so maybe deploying them in 2 large lines would be interesting. They are supported by skyfires with a shaman with shield of fate for the blob. Of course enlightened can't miss the party, so there is the principal damege output.  There's also a great-bray shaman for speeding up tzaangors and attracting enemy units to them, and a curseling with alchemical chain (+1 spell to unbind) and arcane suggestion for making enemies dizzy.

Of course backline there's the gaunt summoner surounded with pinks for classical arcane sacrifice+balewind vortex, and 5 chaos warriors for objetives purposes. What do you think?

I use a similar list all the time. I tend to sacrifice the third character for 9 enlightened and use acolytes to fill out battleline requirements. Plus I've been taking Felhoof instead of a normal bray shaman lately. His spell is an absolute godsend vs other murder units. It does bring my character count dangerously low but you have a lot more bodies to block with.

  2. If a Gaunt Summoner uses Arcane Sacrifice or a Maelstrom to extend the range of his spell, does the part where it says 'every model in the target unit that is within 18' get extended too? It seems like it'd be pointless to extend the targeting range beyond 18 if the second part doesn't.

    Here’s the text update:

“Page 97 – Multitudinous Host, Horrors Without Number Change the rules text to:
‘In each of your hero phases, add D3 models to each unit of Pink Horrors and/or Blue Horrors, and add 1 model to each unit of Brimstone Horrors in this battalion.’”

Yeah ... at 8 units required you’re seeing a minimum of 8 models back (unless a unit gets wiped) but it’s still expensive.

You'd need a combination of 12 Pink/24 Blue Horrors/~33ish Brimstones in a 1:2:3 ratio to get back the points.

Has anyone tried it out post-nerf? It almost seems pointless now unless you want to guarentee your whole army is a one-drop. I can see how before it could've been a pretty crazy horde, but now I'm not so sure the cost outweighs the benefits.

I'd still like to see it play out on a table, tho. A couple max-sized pinks and a cheap acolytes for troops, then 6 blobs of brims? Even then you don't have much room for anything else.

The updated July faq decreases the number of models returned even more than it did in the June update... at 200 points it’s ... of questionable value :(

Oh wow I completely missed that in the faq. Man I wasn't sold on it's worth before. A 240pt battalion that gives almost nothing? I get that you get all the battalion benefits, but a tiny bit of recursion on am already fragile unit is pretty lame.

Oh well, good thing I still have my tzaangors. Those still seem pretty viable.

  5. I was looking through my book again today at work, trying to make this army feel right to me again. I like the new pinks a lot more now tbh.

Has anyone tried the Multitudinous Host in the new edition? Or at least, has anyone had any success with it yet? Seems real restrictive with the pts crunch.

  6. Ok so my current list modified for the new 2.0 pts is way to light on the casters atm, but dammit, I want to play tzaangors!

    Tzeentch 2000

    Tzaangor Shaman 180

    Tzaangor Shaman 180

    Tzaangors x30 480

    Pink Horrors x10 200

    Pink Horrors x10 200

    Tzaangor Skyfires x9 660

I have 100pts left if my math isn't off, but I'm not sure what to do with that atm. Another caster seems to be the thing to do, or one of those endless spells but I'm not 100% into those yet.
