Yes you get the glades for free. The trade-off is the given artefact and command trait. So you cannot choose freely.

Battalions aren't useless. Getting another cp and artefact is huge. Look at the outcast battalion. Add a vengeful skullroot to that and you got a nasty Battleschock test for the enemy (rerolling successful battleshocks) and if a model flees you ad 2d3 on top. That's actually pretty powerful. Especially considering all the new forbidden power spells that give -1 to bravery

Yes i guess i just read the downsite of battalions (i'm pessimistic human being)
Man can't wait to build my army around the alpha strike style, since we had a huge update on numbers of attacks, rerolls hitting and wounding, always played my army very very defensively.
I really wanna try Dreadwood with spites, drycha, durthu, alarielle, arch revenant (hoping gw will make him available soon ) and kurnoth with scythes planning on make them run on battleshock phase :D

  2. I think that battalions are useless. For example why paying 100 point for Household in order to negate retreat ?
Am i wrong if i understood that oakenbrow, gnarlroot, heartwood, ironbark, winterleaf, dreadwood, harvestboon are free by just declaring which glade will u use ?

  3. So Kurnoth Hunters new Envoys of the everqueen does mean that they are always in range of the command ability.
Does it also mean that they can stay far away, like i don't know 15" from the arch revenant 'call to battle' command ability and stil gain the +1 attack?
Or do they must be 9" if arch revenant is not the general?
Also what happens to the units wholly within 12" from KH that are far away (more than 12") from the arch revenant ?

I would guess not, since they are summoned, and thus not part of the battalion at the list-building step.

I could argued that with "Any number of additional SYLVANETH units" which states in Harvestboon Wargrove .. "additional" imho can be a summoned .

Although i have the same opinon as you guys have ...

An official answer should be given by GW

    @vesco

I'm curious about your list.  I'm brand new to Sylvaneth and this looks like a list that I would like to run.  I was wondering what you would think about running the Dryads units as one 30 and one 10.  That would free up 30 points leaving 80.  That is enough for 2 Endless spells which seems attractive.  However, I was also thinking that if the Hunters were dropped to 3 instead of 6 then you (I) could take Drycha for 2K on the dot.  No Endless Spells.  What do you think?  Not just limited to vesco obviously.  ;) . Thanks for the feedback!

Hi! I wont ever run 10 dryads it's too inconsistent also you get 10 from the bwraith.
i'm thinking about 20 dryads and 2 * 5 tree revenants for battle line freeing up 120 points... my tournament went pretty good, i won against FEC, got completely destroyed by Tzeentch, lost against Seraphon by just 1 points! I didn't played well againt tho still learning every spell and abilities  from our battletome plus those new riegn's rules..
I do like my list but i need to use those 50 points left, in all my games i ended up having command points that i didn't use.

Ahh sorry what I meant is I'd recommend putting Ranus on the Branchwraith instead of the TLA. Then dropping the Artifact from the Wych to put something on the TLA.

I'd then recommend putting verdant blessing on the Wraith, meaning you have the blessing on a 4+ and roused to wrath on a 6+. I'd throw regrowth on the TLA instead of blessing.

mmmh seems interesting, i'd try that, thank you :)

Like the list a lot vesco. I'd probably drop Ranus on the Wych, for a very reliably verdant blessing / roused and then put the 3rd artifact on the treelord,. Apart from that I like it :) Though I 'd probably spend your last 50 points on geminids rather then holding them, you already start with 2 from the batallions.

thanks! tla alredy has an artefact :) also i don't own malign sorcery so can't use endless spell xD

Kind of jealous of the fellow who took Durthu and 18 Scythes to Northern Invasion. Not a fan of spam lists, but that's one of the more straightforward, strong Sylvaneth lists I've seen since they launched in 2016.

I'm interested in that list ;D could u tell me more about it

So my third test of Gnarlroot is going down this evening, I decided to change my original template as I was finding Drycha underwhelming and Hunters awesome., Having more Hunters offers me a little more Synergy also allowing me to have more units to return Hunters to. Here's my Gnarlroot MK2 list, going up against Nighthaunt this evening.

    Treelord Ancient
    Artefact - Ignax's Scales
    Trait - Gnarled Warrior
    Deepwood Lore - Regrowth

    Branchwraith
    Artefact - Ranu's Lamentiri
    Deepwood Lore - Verdant Blessing

    Brancwych
Artefact - Acorn of the Ages
Deepwood Lore - Throne of Vines

    30 Dryads
    2 x 5 Tree Revenants

    2 x 3 Scythe Hunters
    2 x 3 Bow Hunters

    Gnarlroot
    Household

I'll let you guys know how it goes :D

You are missing exactly 80 points 1920 / 2000 miht add another unit of tree or bwraith or bwych :)

  11. So does the Realm Walker command trait applies only to the Navigate Realroots ( allegiance ability ) or does it wok also with Spirit Path ability (TLA,TL,Durthu ability?) ?

Also can you use both of the ability on the same guy ?

  12. Allegiance: Sylvaneth  -  Mortal Realms: Ghyran

So this is my first list after GH18
    LEADERS
    Spirit of Durthu (380)
    - General
    - Command Trait : Gnarled Warrior
    - Artefact : Ghyrstrike
    Treelord Ancient (300)
    - Artefact : Ranu's Lamentiri
    - Deepwood Spell : Verdant Blessing
    Branchwych (80)
    - Artefact : The Silverwood Circlet
    - Deepwood Spell : Regrowth
    Branchwraith (80)
    - Deepwood Spell : Throne of Vines

    UNITS
    20 x Dryads (200)
    20 x Dryads (200)
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)
    6 x Kurnoth Hunters (400)
    -Scythes

    BATTALIONS
    Gnarlroot Wargrove (130)
    Household (100)

    Points: 1950/2000
    Any opinion ?

  13. So about the kurnoth huter's 'Envoys of the Everqueen' ability  how does it work with TLA's command ability?
Do they have to be within 10 inches from the TLA in order to measure the distance from them instead of the TLA?
Also, can i choose every kurnoth hunter unit or just once?

Any thoughts on optimal weapon load out for different number of Kurnoth Hunters in 2.0? I'm thinking that Bows would stay as my top pick for 1st unit for that range threat. Scythes as 2nd and what goes after that?

You used to use bows to snipe heroes, now with the look out sir rules it's gonna be 5+/3+ so imo the order of weapon is
    scythes > > swords > bows

still thinking if command abilities are worth, also you are not taking any order wizard is gnarlroot stil worthed?

You are right, some +for casting would be nice, but I think she is in a good position right now for 600 points with the free treelord/whatever, 3 casting and 3 unbinding.  I guess Ill try to play her with a gnarlroot with loremaster and kill everything with her :D All the magic may be excessive though!

yeah loremaster is now 140 points and household+gnarlroot 230 so 20 points more than previous gh, i love gnarlroot too  i hope to come up with a good list tho
