Sadly this sentence makes you kinda „that guy“.

You write a whole paragraph about restricting yourself and whatnot just to come to the conclusion that you need petrifex to compensate for your „weaker choices“ (which really they are not, its OBR after all).

Why not just pick a fluffy Petrifex list with min. 10 sized Morteks, Mortisans as only Heroes and the rest big guys like Harvesters and Stalkers.

Its described in their background that they dont fight as disciplined as the other legions.

    Example:

    Boneshaper, General 130

    - Godbone Armor

    10 Mortek 130

    10 Mortek 130

    3 Stalkers 200

    3 Immortis 200

    Harvester (with Bludgeons) 200

    = 990

Add Morghasts and you have 1200 on the nose with your fluffy „Colossi“ Legion and people cant blame you for taking them.

If you go for 08/15 Liege, Guard, Cavalry list people will always say „Yeah he is just playing them for the CA and +1 Save“ (Which again is fine, but seems to make you feel uncomfortable)

The problem I found with petrifex is not that is much stronger than the other legions (it is), but that the other legions feel... wrong, and it isn't by comparison, petrifex is that strong because the battle trait and command ability, and the reason the other legions feel wrong are the command traits and artifacts. All of our generic heroes are support, even the Liege-Kavalos is taken for the RD points and CA, so you don't want combat focused command traits or artifacts, and the only ones that aren't combat focused are the Petrifex and Mortis Praetorians command traits and the Petrifex Artifact (and the Stalliarch Lords if you don't take an artifact in a Liege-Kavalos).

And even if we ignore that except Petrifex and Crematorians the others have extra problems in how they feel:

Mortis Praetorians have the feel that you have to take named characters

Null Myriad have the feelthat you will completely shut yout opponent (against heavy magic list) or that you will be playing without legion

Stalliarch Lords feel cavalry oriented, but there is only one cavalry unit, and the batallion already gives that CA so the utility of Stalliarch is for... Nagash?

Ivory Host is just bad xD

I present this most boring list I've ever made for Age of Sigmar. Don't drop this against any salty opponents.

    Petrifex Elite

    Katakros - 500

    Mortisan Soulmason - 140
    ☆General, Mighty Archaeossian
    •Soul Reservoir
    ¤Arcane Command

    Mortisan Boneshaper - 130
    •Godbone Armor
    ¤Reinforce Battle-Shields

    Mortek Guard x 20 - 260
    Mortek Guard x 20 - 260
    Mortek Guard x 10 - 130

    Crawler - 200
    Crawler - 200

    Mortek Shield-Corps - 120

    Soulstealer Carrion - 20
    Shrieker - 30

    1990/2000, 5 Drops

    --

Katakros: Positions in a way that he will be able to grant the Crawlers bonus attacks in turn 1 and 2. Does typical Katakros things turn 2+.

Bonemason: Uses the Soul Reservoir to get Shrieker onto the field and rerolls Hits of 1 for the Crawlers. Farms RD points in midgame with Arcane Command.

Mortisan Boneshaper - Heals Katakros allowing him to regen 6 a turn. Uses Enhance Shields to boost survivability of Guard. Casts Carrion if it has nothing else to do.

2 Mortek Guard x 20 - Moves up to claim objectives.

Mortek Guard x 10 - If necessary, screens the Crawlers and Bonemason; usually will be stationed in a block on your home objective.

    --

Generates a ton of RD but also uses a ton of RD in order to position everything, spam Guard rerollls, AND buffs from Katakros.

Godbone and Archaeossian are split across the two HQs to help mitigate mirror lists having the ability to instakill our leads with a single Crawler shot.

If Katakros isn't the general he only generates 2 RD points and can't use Supreme Lord of the Bonereaper Legions

Question to anyone who has painted a Crematorians paint scheme or similar with colors in the crevices:

How difficult is it to get all the crevices per model? Is it annoying and/or difficult? Is it worth it?

For reference I would consider myself an average skill painter. I know to thin paints, I can do edge highlighting, drybrushing, and blending effectively, and I get middle of the road painting scores at local tournaments.

I didn't find it particularly hard

****** totally forgot about that! Thanks! Remind me, Arkhan also take up a behemoth slot? I assume so since he has the keyword, but since he's a leader too i wasn't too sure if it mattered or not

yep, if you are playing with vanguard rules (1000 points) you will need to drop a behemoth

Looks really good. Would you mind sharing your technique with us, please?

    Thank you.

    White primer.

Then Vallejo German Grey for the black areas followed by  Nuln Oil (except the shield emblem), Whitee in the recesses i want in green and correcting the mistakes with the grey.

After that the white is just a wash of seraphim sepia and an outline of white and in the receses Vallejo Emerald Green.

Then with the German Grey I correct the mistakes in the emblem, and the ones in the knees with Eshin Grey, and do the black outlines with Vallejo Dark Sea Grey.

Lastly the sword starts with a wash of my own mixture of water, lahmian medium and emerald green that I use for my Nighthaunts and skeletons, but most likely Aethermatic Blue/Akhelian Green/Terradon Turquoise can work similar, then Vallejo Yellow Fluor in the edge, and finally another wash of the same mixture.
