  1. Is there a way to revive a fallen hero of the group? I know that he is probably not dead for the next quest if he rollen anything higher than a 1 with the questdice after the game, but i thought there might be a way to revive him during the game. In my first game together with a friend, one hero died not long after the start of the game. It was not so much a problem as we both played two heroes, but if we were four people, one player had to be in "spectator-mode" for the rest of the evening.

According to rumors the game is getting worse with the new edition

    -more stormcast

-smaller table (goodbye maneuvering, more big melee blob in the middle)

-charge reactions (shooting units get stronger)

So you really think a smaller size like above would impact maneuvering so much, that there is a need to wave it goodbye?

Nobody knows if shooting units get stronger before all rules are known.

I think it is a good thing, that they sell these new Playfields on Cardboard. (Maybe this affects the 3.0 Edition like Cursed City?)

Although i loved the plastic playfield, it was way too expensive for a core item needed to play. I would love it, if gw started to produce its own game-mats for an ok price. I have a few from other companys an they are great for playing.

  3. It is still playable. The Allegiance Abbilitys out of the box are outdated now, but you can use newer ones as you wish. The set provides a system to play and track your games. You should note, that not every faction is covered by the markers, but it should be no problem finding a fitting marker for you and your group.

  4. Regardless of the fact that price discussions usually don't lead to anything good, we have to admit one thing for GW.

I don't know of any other manufacturer that offers its players a platform to play like GW does. More than 500 shops around the world cost a lot of money that other manufacturers don't have to factor into their prices. Anyway, the price jump for these giants is probably too expensive for me.

On thing to bear in mind with line of sight is that each model must be able to see the enemy unit.  I've had to point out to people when half their unit is behind a rock that they can't only shoot with the ones that can see...  Plus a unit cannot see through a unit that isn't their own.

Houserule wise, my local group don't use any, but we do apply a healthy dose of common sense - if you can see me then I can see you if nobody moves for example.

One thing I do occasionally have to do, is get my opponent to check that they can see characters, as most people play with the assumption they can see anything that isn't behind cover.

Is this correct? I have looked it up in the core-rules and the rule states:

"In order to attack with a missile weapon, the model using the weapon must be in range of the target unit (i.e. within the maximum distance, in inches, of the Range listed for the weapon making the attack), and the target unit must be visible to the model with the weapon (if unsure, stoop down and look from behind the shooting model to see if a model from the target unit is visible)."

it says "modell" not "unit". So why should i not be able to make some shots with half of the unit?

  6. In my opinion, the units we have are all we need. For me it is more a problem of rules. I can't imagine, why any rule designer could look at a Skyvessel and think "hm, looks squishy. Lets give them a 5+ Save". If some things like this would be fixed, i would be perfectly fine.

Maybe a new hero like an accountant or merchant for the expeditions. Someone who looks over the profits.

Rulewise maybe something like a warchanter of the ironjawz. More a support-Hero.

With that said, I had a question for those of you who are still thriller by this army ! With our mighty Warden King, his command trait which add +1 to wound to any friendly units attacking the target. Does that command trait stack ?

No, because the rule has an errata which states that the same unit can't be chosen more than once in the same face for this Command-Abbility.

  8. Who said that the fluff teaser in the Fyreslayers book is not going to happen? It could be a whole new army, in which the old models just dont fit. I dont get, why so many people feel "betrayed". Do you feel betrayed when Volkswagen stops producing a version of the Golf? They can't produce the old models forever. And how should they have done the message better? If they made an announcement earlier, the models would have gone earlier. Maybe you think they could have made their announcement and keep producing the models for a while, but i think thats a bit naive. I dont know how the producing works, but i think its nothing you can easily keep going for a handfull of people that are realy buying these old models. Of course, you're right, when you say 34 units is more than a handful, but do you realy think they should have said "Hey, here is our new battletome. Enjoy it, but please be aware that we are squatting more than 10% of the entire order model range". Of course they couldn't do that. But i'm with you, they could have handled it more sensible. An expiry date of a year is better than squatting them just before the new handbook isn't it?

The faction of the Dispossesed have not been hit that hard, really. The warriors we have can easily be used as longbeards. For a long time, the longbeards had even been build out of this box. The cannons are a kick in the nuts, but they could not be fielded as dispossesed before without allying, so nothing new for us. And who knows, maybe we get a new cannon model, similar to those on the Greywater Artworks. Left over only one kit: The thunderers and quarrelers. This is really sad. All we can do here is take the models and field them as handgunners or crossbowmen. I know its not the same, but in fact the models where realy old and doesnt fit the size of the already existing models of dwarfs. If we expect a new Grungni faction, which by definition cant be called Dispossesed, the diference in sizes would be even bigger.

I have been collecting dwarfs for more than a decade now. I am sad, that the model range is smaller now, too. But does all this crying now help?

You said GW doesn't care. You're right. They don't care about the tears. But they care about our wallets. If people keep playing the dwarfs and all the store managers all over the world keep telling their bosses, if there are pictures and battle reports of dwarfes keep fighting, then we will finally get new models and a book for our own.  Call me optimistic, but i think its a better option than constant crying with random strangers. If people think, crying is better, than they should write mails to GW, where the crying could really help.

  9. It's a shame what happens here, but I'm surprised how the dwarfs handle it. Who really loves his dwarfs and feels like a dwarf does not give up. Write your grudges in the great books and fight for them. Show them that the dwarf people are not dying and still standing upright. We are here to stay. Not even death is powerful enough to erase the heritage of the dwarves from the world. Let them hear our war songs. Fire the cannons so their thunder reverberates in the Nottingham halls. Send the clans into the fight so they will never be forgotten. This is the only way to let their creators know that they are needed. That we want them. That we love them. Even if we only have one year for this.
