No.  I am gutted because I'm watching my group get splintered and made smaller, and thats not why I chose to play a GW game.  I chose a GW game because it was promised that it had the largest play group to facilitate competitive gaming.

GW does those things to you. Many people thought they were safe investing modelling time and a bunch on money in WHFB and GW nuked it.

That's why for many veterans company-supported is just one of several desirable things to look for in a game, but only one among many.

Don't get me wrong, I want Epic-scaled fantasy. I just don't want Warmaster. Any game where a single roll can mean you don't get to play with any of your toys in a given turn ... well ... that's just misery on the table top.

I have most of my warmaster minis rebased for minihammer (basically half-scale warhammer or in this case 9th age, the advantage being you can play it on your average kitchen table.)

I've always thought kow works better in smaller than 28mm so there's an option there too.

Everyone getting so heated about what kind of basing has obviously forgotten

    ”bases don’t matter”

Exactly. Most of our AoS minis are in squares, and although we measure base to base we try not to gain an unfair advantage about it (although in my worldview a wall of pikes/spears should be exactly that).

10mm doesn’t preclude big centrepieces. It just means they’re bigger in relation to troops.

My warmaster HE dragon is barely taller than a SCE mini.  I really don't think that's where they're going.

This is an obvious bone thrown to the people still playing in square-base world (whatever the ruleset). Bringing warmaster back is a much smaller addressable market.

I actually rather keep on being sceptical and keep an open mind until I actually get access to information (leaks or official) as the game development goes on. I never have been keen on hyping stuff up on small teased stuff and build air castles out of it.

If you go back and read what I wrote you´ll see that I didn't say that square bases wont be used. I only said that they where used in the announce promotion and then asked questions on how they´ll be used in the game. There´s quite a bit of possible ways that GW can go with how they utilize bases in a game that lies years ahead.

If a promo centered around square bases and linking square bases and the old world turned out to be anything other than a rank and file game in the old WHFB mould it would be the worst case of bait&switch ever.

I'm interested in this but only if it has been designed with round bases in mind. It would be pretty ludicrous of gw to release a game that needs square bases after working so hard to make most of those old boxes round based.

Well pretty much the only thing we know atm is that it will have square bases in it.
