Lol, I think they forgot we existed. Either that, or there are so few of us left that they decided not to bother. I wouldn't put it past them to change it on the next battle scroll. It's a shame that we can't stack glowing green tusks and Hoarfrost. -5 rend pigs could have been fun.

Unless my info is out of date it's basically guaranteed that the FEC book is coming in winter?  The next battletome on the road map after cities is a winter release, and unless it's a curveball with an entirely new faction, then it has to be FEC.  Though, that said, I'm expecting for it to drop early next year, rather than late this year, as they don't tend to do big releases in December for the most part.

Lol, they could always spin out a Deathrattle battletome.

  3. So... I just learned that we have a rules update in Dawnbringer as well. The changes sound interesting. Knights get 2 inch reach, flayers are shooting now, everything gets rend.

On the down side, usually these updates are there for books that are going to be a while before they are updated in the next edition. As the only 2nd edition book left, it is kind of troubling. I was fully expecting us to have a book in winter.

I think it's probably best to use his ability to deny command abilities, rather than focus on the anti casting/chanting effect which, as you say, is unlikely to trigger often vs a high bravery hero.

But pinging a lower bravery unit, particularly an anvil or swingy hammer that wants to be using AoD/AoA could be quite punishing.  The real issue in my view is the 1" range, as he'll likely be killed in the ensuing combat so it'll be tough to infect multiple units like you'd ideally like to.

I suppose if the new book has avenues for significant and effective bravery debuffs he might be more appealing.

I ask myself "When would I take him over a Courtier that replenishes units, or an abhorrant that can currently replenish and summon"? I am still kind of scratching my head on that. As you said, 5 up save and 5 wounds... he is squishy and most likely will only get off one time. Probably needs to run with ghouls or the new warcry band, so that something else can be in base to base while he swings over them with 2 inch reach. It will be interesting to see him in actual application.

  5. So I saw the rules for our herald. A little underwhelming, but not terrible. My imagination was running rampant as to what his rules were, so the actual thing was probably never going to measure up. I just wished that he did a little more, or was a hair more survivable. He hits hard, but can't take it. His ability is pretty short ranged, and is best against heroes/casters. But most of them have a high bravery and the 2d6 roll will be a minor hinderance. You will almost never get the strikes first option. Since he is so squishy, he is only going to get to use this once more than likely. Still, doing this on something like Nagash could be annoying. But who uses him any more?

The optics of the ability are hilarious. He and his pack of ghouls charge in, get nose to nose with their enemy, and then this dude yells "WAIT!!! Protocol demands that I offer you a gift first as a sign of respect. What!?! You decline? How insulting! Get em' boys".

The regiment gives 6+ ward and run and charge. Kind of pointless really, as they will have none of the other tools that make FEC work.

  6. Well, I saw the leaks for the new GHB. Barring any points changes, this is what I am thinking of running.

     - Army Faction: Orruk Warclans
         - Army Type: Bonesplitterz
         - Subfaction: Drakkfoot
         - Grand Strategy: Waaagh!

    Wurrgog Prophet (170)**
         - General
         - Command Traits: Master of Magic
         - Artefacts of Power: Glowin’ Tattooz
         - Spells: Rupture
         - Bonding:  Krondspine Incarnate of Ghur
    Wardokk (80)**
         - Spells: Gorkamorka’s War Cry
    Wardokk (80)**
         - Spells: Glowy Green Tusks
    BATTLELINE
    Savage Orruk Morboys (160)*
    Savage Orruk Morboys (160)*
    Savage Orruks (160)*
         - Chompa

    Savage Boarboy Maniaks (300)*
    ENDLESS SPELLS & INVOCATIONS
    1 x The Burning Head (30)
    CORE BATTALIONS
    *Battle Regiment
    **Andtorian Acolytes
    TOTAL POINTS: 2000/2000

The idea is that the primal magic dice will boost the Wurrgog's casting, making a casting roll of 10 much easier for fist of gork, and rupture let's me feed the Incarnate without having to sacrifice my general. My general will have a potential +2 to cast thanks to the Incarnate and possibly a Wardokk dance. Hoarfrost and glowing green tusks help pump rend, which in turn synergizes with the Drakkfoot's ability, with a potential-5 rend pigs.

On the flip side, anti magic is going to be boosted as well, and I am not sure if we can hang as a caster army. We will see. Anyways, this is the best that I came up with once I saw the leaks. Then again, I might be back to the drawing board if the points change.

Hope we get a nice replacement with the upcoming campaign. At least Ironjawz got a huge boar. Hope we get something nice too.

I won't hold my breath. We are getting 12 models, 4 are heralds, and the first additional one we are getting is the Boar. That means we are probably getting one more destruction model. With Warclans and Gitz now represented, it is probably going to be Ogors... unless they release a unit of creepers for SoB.

Thanks for the link!  Dang, I really want the terrain from the soulblight-vs-stormcast box, but I've already got the minis in the set from underworlds.  Do warcry vs. box terrain sets typically get released separately later?

As for the FEC guys... they look ok.  The leader(?) I like in particular, but the rest... they're not bad.  I keep hoping that some sculptor is going to crack the code of portraying the FEC as the monsters they are while still capturing some sense of the noble knights they see themselves as in their delusions.  I don't know if any FEC models ever will be able to capture that dichotomy, but these ones aren't quite what I'm looking for yet.

I think that part of the issue with the new models is the lighting and color scheme with which they are being shown. Dark....fur(?) on a dark background really hides a lot of potential details. I can't tell if that is their hair or if they are wearing pelts. Similarly the bone color isn't too dissimilar from the skin color they are using. It all just muddles together. Hopefully they will be a lot cooler looking than what they have shown. I think that they are going for a more savage jungle themed unit for this one in particular due to the narrative. Maybe that will play out as some sort of ambush mechanic in the AoS rules.

As for the terrain, I am unaware of underworlds ever doing a terrain box separately.

So FEC are not one of the two springtime death books.  On the one hand, boo, they really need an update.  On the other, at least there's still hope that when the 3e FEC book does release, it might yet do so with a more significant model wave attached, rather than just a pity hero.

There is a leak that FEC and Stormcast will be the  the two armies in the next warcry box. Between the year end Ghoul king and these ghouls, GW has definitely been having fun designing new models. Hopefully there is more than one more incoming.

What are you guys running these days?

  11. Well, I am still bummed about the Rogue Idol being discontinued and that it inevitably will squated sooner than latter, but that hasn't happened yet. So I figured I would give him his last victory lap, and build my first list for the new hand book (which hasn't been locally in stock at all for me to actually get yet).

    - Army Faction: Orruk Warclans

    - Army Type: Bonesplitterz

    - Subfaction: Drakkfoot

    ENDLESS SPELLS & INVOCATIONS

    1 x Emerald Lifeswarm (60)

    CORE BATTALIONS

    *Warlord

    **Galletian Veterans

    TOTAL POINTS: 1990/2000

Created with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: The App

I took Warlord for the extra artifact. Gryph Feather Charm let's me run two survivable Wurrgogs and Tunnel Master let's my non-general go head hunting or objective grabbing. The rest of the list is my basic bread and butter. Rogue Idol gets buff and healing support while buffing my casters. Only questionable pick is squiggly curse, but I haven't played around with it in a long time. I figure an Arcane Bolt and Squiggly curse to the face gives me a decent shot at taking down a hero.

That's about it. If you guys have any tweaks or suggestions let me know.

Yeah the fact that it notes their venom in the description means these mercenary bands must be bringing their own mini-battle trait bonuses. Which makes sense because otherwise they'd be about as useless as regular allies lol

Very curious to see how they all look.

Models are just the regular ones.

I like that we finally have a way to ally in bolt boys without losing our allegiance abilities. Looking at the box, it looks like two units of bolt boys and a beast skewer kiIl bow. I imagine that thier rules let them keep thier venom encrusted weapons rule, and makes the kill bow a hero. Heck, if they make the kill bow worth while I may consider taking them.

  14. Well... I just learned that Forge World has discontinued all of their non 40k compatible models. This means that it is only a matter of time before they get shuffled off to legends. This bums me out, as Rogue Idols have been a staple in my lists since 2nd edition. It filled an important niche in our army, and it will be missed. Guess I am going to have to go Krondspine Incarnate or Kragnos.

  15. What is everyone's hopes and predictions for the new book?

I think it is almost a given that courts of delusions are going away. The subfactions are going to be stripped down to just single individual rules and Battleline unlocks. I think Blisterskin will stay 2+ movement, but the rest are probably going to be tweaked a bit. I would really love for the command abilities in the subfactions to be made available army wide, but that probably isn't happening. Our spells are going to be reduced to 4. Three will stay (hopefully Blood Feast, Monstrous Vigor, and Spectral Host) and one new. Similar cuts will be made to our artifacts, command traits, and mount traits.

Outside of new models of course, I would like to see us keep our White Dwarf heroic action.

Our Cadaverous Barricade is tempting at 40 points, put it back to 30 and I might be sold.

We lost our Battalions, and I would love to see us get more ways to amp up our units. Maybe have non-courtier versions of our Courtiers that provide aura buffs to their respective knights and serfs. Ghasts providing battleshock immunity to ghouls nearby. Haunters that grant rend to horrors. Infernals that make flayers able to run and charge. Varghulf that get the bodyguard rule around abhorrents. Stuff like that.

More units are my biggest wish, but secondly I would like to see Ghoul Spam become a valid option again. 30 wounds on a 6+/6++ isn't a big hurdle to chew through.

What are you guys expecting/ hoping for?

bonesplitters got rolled back into orcs.  you can run other new orc models alomgside your savage orcs if you want.  i would honestly have fewer complaints about the fec range if they had been reabsorbed into the gravelords.

The grass is always greener I suppose. I would have rather that they had remained separate, as now they can be ignored by the developers. Hell, we never even had a start collecting box.

On the bright side, they will have to release something with the FEC battle tome, and I hope that our release is similar to Sylvaneth's.

  17. 4 hours ago, Sception said:

The faction is missing key units.  the model range is missing key kits.  they're barely half a faction.  for the first new FEC model we've seen in a while to be a limited release - which thus deliberately adds nothing to the faction and nothing to the model range - is just frustraring.

Even if the model itself is pretty great.

Lol, my other army is Bonesplitterz. The only models that they have received since about 5th edition fantasy is an Underworlds warband. Great sculpts, but crappy rules. I am pretty sure that we and the Bonereapers are the two Death battle tomes coming out on the road ahead. The fact that they have a new model for us, gives me hope that there might be more on the way.

  18. On 11/9/2022 at 7:25 AM, Colonic said:

Well we have one in the Orruk Warclans subforum, then this one that people won't let die! 😆

I still consider Bonesplitterz to be their own distinct army. So I like keeping threads like this a live. Hell. A big part of me wishes that they would do away with Orruk Warclans and big waaagh altogether and break us into 3 separate books. They can give them coalition rules and call it a day.

Why? Because that way they would be forced to give each faction some attention each edition. As it is now, it is diluted between three armies and that is if they don't decide to add in a 4th (like a more generic greenskins orc army). Aside from the Underworlds warband, we haven't gotten a single new model since what? Warhammer fantasy.6th edition?
