Do we know if this arena "battle" is the first time that it has happened? Looks like, right?

Arena of Death Finals – Meet the Undisputed Champion of the 41st Millennium - Warhammer Community (warhammer-community.com)

I would love something similar with the AoS models.

They did it with AoS back in 2020: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/05/20/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-death-match-gods-and-daemonsgw-homepage-post-4/

note: they have links to the other 2 “weight classes “ in the beginning. One for infantry and one for mounted.

i hope they do one again though. They are just fun

So chrofs are not in TOW because of a 4th edition release?

You know who is not in ToW and related to Ulgu?

    Yes, He's coming.

    Do you know something?

or are you just making a guess following the same reasoning for the chorfs absence from TOW?

It would be Nice to have one subfaction who serve nagash with a big ghoul as mortarch, then another subfaction following Ushoran, and then maybe other subfaction who dont particularly follow someone.

Maybe Ushoran will come out in the Dawnbringer series as an army of renown.

seems like they might be doing something similar with DoK and the rumored morai heg priestess

Don't forget about Ushoran. I have the feeling it would be the new center piece.

How likely do we think Ushoran is? I know he was named dropped recently, but hasn’t that happened before?

Personally, I’d be very excited to see him. Would single-handedly get my friend into the game

  5. Underworlds has picked back up a little locally. Rivals format was a big help to bringing back former players who quit during covid or due to the open deckbuilding.

It's just a fun game. Tournaments around here just play 1 match per round, so most events are just 3-4 hours. For those with the minis... I highly recommend trying to attend a local tournament/event. Good times

I'd hate United Duardin. Why can Aelves have Lumineth, Daughters, Idoneth, Sylvaneth and probably sooner rather than later Malerion Aelves and Kurnothi (not even to mention all the Cities Aelves), but all Duardin need to be souped?

If Dwarfs get souped, perhaps some of those elves will get souped also? And if Chaos Dwarfs ever come out, I can't imagine them getting thrown in with the other Dwarfs.

If the great soup movement ever happens, you could end up with 2 Dwarf books and 3 Elf ones (not sure about Idoneth). Is that so bad?

  7. Totally deflated my hype for Underworlds.

I agree, it's just more witches (I have the first warband already). I didn't even care enough to read their cards

Malerion's side would have been awesome. But even something like Executioners would have been cool and different from Morgwaeth

It sucks though when they invalidate the warscroll after you've made a costly conversion. For instance everyone who wanted to run one of the most popular 6th edition builds for Dark Eldar had to convert a Baron Sathonyx. Then they removed him from the book!

and the Jetbike Archon before that! He was my favorite thing in 40k, from 3rd to 6th. One of my few conversions, mixed him with a Cold One Rider and some extra Dark Elf bits. Played that crazy guy for like 12 years

I recently watched an interview of Peachy. He explained why WHB was replaced with AoS.

Some of the reasons he gives for the end of WFB:

    - too complex

    -shrinking market share

    - lack of new player interest

    - established players not buying new product

-Old World too limiting on lore development

    -IP issues

-figure design limited to square bases

As a former WHFB tournament player (who by the way is skinny, polite, and smells nice... I do usually have a neckbeard though), I can tell you what killed it in my group: increasing prices and a wildly OP magic phase/armies.

That last Chaos warrior book was the death. I forgot the details, but demon princes were absurd. Prices got higher and higher, the Empire Greatswords were called Goldswords for awhile, but they weren't an anomoly, they were the new par.

We stopped playing before GW killed it. We moved on to KoW and more recently, ASOIAF. I'm the only one left who cares enough to even follow the news from GW

Some of the specific points brought up by Peachy:

"established players not buying new product":

this is kinda tied to prices for me. I have a ton of metal dark elves. But the new dark elf plastics came out in essentially the same poses and same price as the existing Black Guard. Furthermore, I preferred the metal witches and executioners.  Their new kits that were actually improvements (Cold Ones, Dark Riders, and Dragon) probably sold well for them. Essentially, GW made a change without an improvement

"figure design limited to square bases"

I agree with this one and it's probably why the newer plastic Black Guard were still pretty static. But then, what little information we know about The Old World is that they said square bases are back. I really hope they aren't. I hope it's similar to how ASOIAF does it (or even GW's own War of the Ring from back in like 2009). It'd also mean less minis required to fill a unit and it gives each mini some space to breathe

  10. While we're talking old WHFB characters coming back, there's 3 Dark Elf ones I'd really like...

Malus Darkblade. Tons of depth, his books are great. It'd be a shame to leave him behind.

Shadowblade. I really enjoyed his rivalry with Eltharion and the storyline going along with it. It'd be cool if he came back in a similar form as his rival, something like The Shadow Blade. No real physical form, just a mix of shadows and sharp looking things and cloth. I'm a sucker for infantry heroes (eltharion/sigvald, tier).

Hellbron. Might be a bit of a stretch, but I like her jealousy of Morathi and their political rivalry. Sadly, I don't think there's a place for her since Morathi finally became Khaine. There's no way Hellbron would worship her hah. I was always team Hellbron.

  11. I'm pro soup. Less books the better imo. WHFB was my main game for most of my life too, so it could be some nostalgia there

I mostly think about elves, and in my head it makes sense for each elf army to have their 2 Gods (or near gods) in the same book. So Tyrion/Teclis, Malerion/Morathi, Arielle/Orion. Keep Deepkin on their own I guess?

Also, I could see a more classic Dwarf faction tying together the KO and the Slayers. Kinda like they did with Orcs already

To me, it just makes sense. Less books, more rules in each book, more options for the player

  12. Maybe it's wishful thinking on part (I'm desperate for some Malerion), but I think their icon looks the most like Morgwaeth. When I saw the spiky crown and executioner-style icon, I immediately thought it looked like Malekith. I still think it's the most likely, but I like setting myself up for disappointment

There are a lot of people like that. This sunday I took my seraphon to a tournament and like 5 people there said they love the idea of the army but the old models stop them from collecting.

    My mindset also.

The Saurus Knights are so bad. Not a fan of the Saurus Warriors either.

I like their lore, and they are pretty easily my favorite "good guy" army. But I just can't pull the trigger

Its utterly beautiful. It reminds me of the old world Tyrion

For a split second, I thought it WAS a new Tyrion. I agree that it's a very nice mini, but when an imperial guard mini reminds us of a High Elf hero... I think they missed the mark
