really love this announcement. we can only gain from the brand expanding the variety of its presentation. ive always felt that the settings could really benefit from a creative rendition similar to a saturday morning cartoon, relatable to kids because the adventures are about their peers, and promoting the compassion, and ingenuity that comes with childhood. cant wait!

For anyone looking for a super lazy way of calculating points values, I've thrown together a simple skirmish points calculator in jotform, should be handy on mobile.

New warhammer community article is a bit of a bummer, only new rule shown is Lotann giving +1 bravery if wholly within 12".
most details were actually discussed in the twitch stream, is a bummer we dont get to see some stats for the soul render though!

I am a tiny bit bothered by this underwater race wielding chopping/slashing weapons like those great big axes and swords. Realistically, you can't get any kind of force behind a swing in water, it would make a lot more sense for them to have spears, thrusting swords and other impaling weapons.
theyre buff bro

on a side note, could we ever see this branch into a warscroll battalions?

these are fsntastic for skirmish and i love the artwork. i also own thr 40k one for the mars side. whats nice is that in skirmish it should be a lot easier to run the campaign as well as use the terrain rules include.

Realised I made a mistake here. Doomfire Warlocks are male, and part of the DoK faction, so Tenebrael Shard wouldn't be the only male. Still, I don't think he fits in - we'll see soon enough I guess.
i think its new enough while still keeping the barbarian aesthetic. hes got the ornate plate, wild hair, crown etc. it should be more obvious once he is painted on the DOK colors, or they are painted in HIS colors.
i kind of see him as their dedicated assassin and scout, along the same lines as neave blacktalon.

i welcome our new gorgon overlord. i was first thinking they were going the barbarian route with the daughters of khaine, but not once did i think they could turn up the greek/gorgon aesthetic up to 11!

looking forward to an update with nurgle stuff!
on a side note, is there any interest in making a living point system? where community driven feedback can help balance the game from solely a pts perspective? i would not mind helping out with something like that

Keep in mind that what you just described will take 2-3 turns and will only happen on a 5+.
this is considering that this city allegiance is free! so theres no reason not to take it when i'm running things like aforementioned celestant, flagellants, a handful of GA:O cavalry, etc. The chance of it happening on a 5+ is much better than it never happening at all. this can also help slower units that have been chaffed up, so escape, get a movement, and possibly charge onto a desired enemy unit to attack or enemy unit sitting on an objective.

I'll try it with an open mind though !
I'm excited, obviously, i've been a big fan of these less guaranteed style abilities that GHB2017 has introduced, but then again, i've always played models with wacky RNG, so i'm used to it.

things that get bonuses on charge like lord celestant on dracoth with glaive, are gonna love this. forced disengage, able to move and charge again, super versatile!!!

Apparently I am the only one to read it that way, but as far as I can tell nowhere in that article does it say that the picture represents an exact lineup of the next few Shadespire factions.
Maybe we should wait for an official reveal before we pull our hair out over even more Stormcast and Bloodbound releases?
As well, I do not think if GW plans to preview something like an entirely new aelf faction, they would announce that via an artwork reveal.
This is no more than a teaser, it certainly does not tell us what isn't coming out or a timetable, just gives us an idea on what additional releases might bring.
im going to go with this, as the art does not show new and unique versions of these factions unlike the reveals we have had. so im willing to bet that vulkite berzerkers, blood warriors, skaven clanrats and vanguard hunters will be usable as organized play promotions. im going to assume that cards to play these models in shadespire will be available for people who participate in stores, similar to other companies like ffg with x-wing!
-
gameplay wise im gonna predict that fyreslayers unique style of play will be the fact that every model can throw a fyresteel axe like in aos!
-
so confirmation well see vanguard chamber blood warriors, clanrats and fyreslayers in shadespire in some way or another?
-
im gonna put my money on a herald of CHAOS. a markable daemon that can be customized like the daemon prince? satisfies everyone and is something really useful?
-
im so glad hamilcar is a thing. hes so fun to read as is probably the most 'rogue' of the stormcast characters. the guy literally makes everyone drink blood

the fleets are probably hired by the city itself, just because they turn profit on the high seas for monster meat and product doesnt mean they dont care any less for their homes. they probably enjoy being around the anvils too. they dont talk much and hit hard.
-
im cool with buying books as long as the content is there. army points is kind of a side addon as its great to have in print, and you dont need it to play the army.
i dont really understand the criticism of invalidating books. the index and grand alliance books are designed with a purpose, to provide a physical collection of warscrolls or datasheets up to date at the time. a battletome or codex is a book covering in detail you faction from lore, to rules add ons for narrative and matched play games. sure my stormcast battletome has an obsolete path to glory section and may have changed points at the back, but that does not bring down the value to me. unless they release a stormcast v.1.3.4 beta alpha hd remix a week later, i see no harm is having the generals handbook give us updates. but then again, maybe i like to buy my books for more than like the 2 to 3 pages of points?
anyways, do we know if well see a faction spotlight for darkling covens?

If they are the same sprues as the normal box it Will be possible. But I dont know how those are arranged.
shrine or cauldron, if the shrine is built you now have access to 2 death hags on foot, one with witch brew, one with deathsword.
if cauldron is built, you get 1 death hag on foot and 1 medusae.

Is the Daughters of Khaine the only set with Aelves? I'm still hoping for a faction update for Wanderers down the road, but doesn't the inclusion of this box sorta imply that Aelves aren't getting an update? If they were, I doubt they would create this bundle.
if you notice, all the new boxes are fringe factions that best fit the new setting. so its not to say that these are taking place of the new aelves, but they are going to complement them very well. we already know that tenebral shard from the silver tower fits this barbarian aelf aesthetic that the daughters of khaine have, and the spiderfang have gotten a ton of inclusion in the realmgate wars stories. these are the most sensible boosters to an army in the long run. they also are more in line with the model design theory that sigmar has had since launch. less static, less obviously rank in file in origin, more dynamic, (outside of the grave guard, they could use an update...)

Wonder if the new battleplans and cards go well with Skirmish too?
i was thinking exactly this!

Id put money on objective markers for aos. The low detail and flatter surface is sort of in line with the hero bases, so its either that or a terrain kit.

Sorry I know it's off topic, but I just wanted to say that I thought this seemed like a fun house rule! Command points in 40K in a nice mechanic.
I second this! Command points are awesome!
