OBR, Seraphon, and Idoneth. With the changes to Battleshock and Command Points, OBR are down 2 entire faction traits, and with the changes to Retreating, I hope they write in an exception to taking damage for IDK and NH which are ABC cycle charging armies, or at least the poor Storm Eidolon. Please let him be good this time!

I think instead of being around retreating and charging, the Nighthaunt will have an opposite approach where they can force the enemy to retreat, damaging them and allowing the Nighthaunt to charge again. Would fit in with their whole terror theme.

It seems that most of 4.0 ranged attacks are going to be support dmg dealers than just hammers. As a KO player, I'm ok with that.

If they nerf KO shooting heavily they'd better at least make Arkanaut Company a valid melee/shooting hybrid (as you'd expect of a unit armed with pistols and melee weapon) instead of leaving the balloon boys as our only real melee unit.

I literally thought about it when a few posts ago there was a chat about how poor the AoS map is defined. How are you going to create an AoS TWW without that? I thought it would be impossible or very limited.

There's literally one map for every single mortal realm other than Azyr, you could easily just adapt them.

I mean they always defined the reasoning and method of how some of the faction are present in every realm and in most continents from Garriorns, established portals & migration paths but like whatever

Honestly, I think 40k is worse about this stuff. The lore tries to present the galaxy as a huge place it takes years to cross but somehow all the major factions just go anywhere they want whenever its convenient. Like Marneus Calgar somehow immediately after the Plague Wars in Ultramar goes to Vigilus, which is on the literal other side of the galaxy, with no indication that much time has passed. And in addition to their forces on Vigilus, somehow the Ultramarines are both fighting the Necrons in the Nephilim sector in Segementum Ultima and the Tyranids in Segmentum Solar, all while still somehow keeping their bases in Ultramar manned.

    1 Orruk Warclans

    2 Fyreslayers

    3 FEC

    4 Disciples of Tzeentch

    5 Maggotkin of Nurgle

I expect a Daemons release in the big winter release slot. I think we will be getting Chorfs the year after that. I think Warclans,  FEC and Fyreslayers will get a early tome because they already have been part of Dawnbringers and they wont be involved in much lore the next edition.

Fyreslayers should logically be be getting a lot. They're in due for an update and live in Aqshy, which is the primary setting for this edition. And there's the old Dwarfs vs Skaven rivalry to capitalize on.

I mean didn’t the leaker listed all the new models coming out?

like there not much else to spoils as this probably the last big AoS release for the year and thing like faction focus and rules are generally things that aren’t leaked by people

Only the Skaven models as far as I know.

Destruction wishlist idea of the day.

I would love for Destruction to get a faerie faction along the lines of the mtg ones and make them hate creation like the rest of the grand alliance. I think it fits AoS really well. Could also include an Avalon/ Atlantis kind of theme to it. Would prefer this to even more greenskins. They could still follow Gorkamorka but havent figured out how yet.

Honestly Sylvaneth already have the fairie themes, even the evil fairy themes what with Drycha.

the ogre kingdoms come from the whfb equivalent of mongolia was my understanding. I feel like I'm not alone in that I could not tell you what a middle ages cossack looked like so that's probably why people jump to mongolia

The Warhammer Fantasy equivelant of Mongolia is the Eastern Steppes, where Hobgoblins, Kurgan and Hung live.

Ogors already have the mongolian aesthetic really, it'd be cool to instead see a different Asian mythological inspiration, there are loads of cool creatures and aesthetic styles we don't see represented as much.

Ogors aren't Mongolian, the designers explicitly stated they were supposed to look like Cossacks. I don't know why people keep saying Ogres are Mongolians because they don't really have anything to do with them.

Anyone know what this short story in  the new white dwarf might be referencing?
Shards of Divinity – The herald of an ancient aelven deity is born in this short story.

I'm pretty sure its about Krethusa.

I think the box will include terrain at the expense of more models.
Which I guess makes it more suitable for new players, but maybe less valuable for experienced players.

Wasn't Games Workshop's whole distinction between "launch boxes" and "starter boxes" is that launch boxes were intended for experienced players who just wanted all the new models that were releasing with the start of the edition while starter boxes were inttended for people who wanted to start the game? Kind of weird if they veered away from that. Maybe they just figured that new players were just buying the launch box to get into the game anyway.

  12. 25 minutes ago, Vagard said:

Based on the fact that GW told us that there will be 2 playable spearheads in the starter box, and also based on the comparison between ScE dominion roaster and ScE spearhead, we have 3 options :

    - Either the launch box is not the same as the starting box (as dominion was) and in the launch box we will not have terrains but more minis instead

    - There is only one launch box / starting box and we will just have less minis than Dominion

    - There is only one launch box / starting box and we will get as much minis as Dominion but the spearheads included will not take into account all the minis included in the box.

To me the most plausible option is the 1st

The third option is literally what Leviathan did though.

And since it looks like they'll come in themed boxes we can expect one or two in each to be really good to force you to buy multiple kits you don't need just to be on a level playing field.

You can't mix and match endless spells from different lores, you will only need to buy a single box containing the one you need.

  14. So hypothetically speaking, assuming that it isn't summoned like an Endless Spell, there's no reason not to take Krondspine when you're playing KO, right? Unless they're just going to make Spells in a Bottle a universal army feature.

Don't you find it weird that we are 16 days away from seeing the full box but we don't know its name yet?

Didn't Whitefang Jr. mention being excited for "Skaventide"? I presume that will be the box name.

If I were to use the Poorhammer’s Lore ranking tier list, IMO I would rank the armies like this.

100 books of yapping: none, like AoS is too young to have any army in this tier

More then you ever read: CoS, SCE

More of this: KO, Soulblight, LRL, GSG, and OBR (maybe lower)

Tablescraps: FS, Sylvaneath( could be higher), DoK, Slaves, Khorne, Wanderers (lol), and Deepkin

Terminal villain syndrome: Nurgle, Nighthaunt, Ironjawz, Skaven, Kruleboyz, FEC, Tzeentch

cringe zone: none, there not a single infamous writer that certain army fandom dislike like Eldar and Tau.

might as well be fanfic: Ogors, Seraphon, Sons, Slaanesh, Beastmen,

I remember Beastmen showing up a bit in in stuff. Main villains in Beastgrave, major side villain in Hamilcar, primary antagonist POV in Black Pyramid.

Beats Bonereapers too. They’ve got Bonereapers as a novella, End of Enlightenment where they’re the deuteragonists and I think 1 shows up in Children of Teclis too, but doesn’t do much. And they show up in a few short stories but I don’t think ever really as the POV.

The Vulture Lord is another Bonereapers centric novel.

  18. 6 minutes ago, novakai said:

Yeah but if you compiled the list for KO it probably bigger, and more stuff that are focus on them.

Granted I think in terms of overall lore support for KO they are probably show up above average compare to other armies. That why no one think they are neglected lorewise (model-wise is another issue)

Yeah, but its much bigger in comparison to, say, Seraphon (the most Seraphon centric novel is Legends of the Age of Sigmar: Skaven Pestilens, and that's the weird 1E Slann-dream Seraphon).

Kharadron have actual black library novels though where FS have none among other things

There are a bunch of Fyreslayer stories. Arguably, no dedicated Fyreslayer novels, but:

*Legends of the Age of Sigmar: Fyreslayers, which is a compliation of short stories and a novella.

*Bonereapers, a novella which while the Bonereapers themselves get top billing the Fyreslayers are the main heroes opposing them.

*Heirs of Grimnir, an audio drama spinoff of Realmslayer that focuses purely on Fyreslayers.

*Grombrindal: Chronicles of the Wanderer, which is evenly divided between Dispossessed, Fyreslayers and Kharadron with neither really getting more focus than the others.

*Soulslayer, a Gotrek novel which is something like 70% Fyreslayer focused.

I read an interesting comment recently mentioning how you can draw a lot of parallels between the treatment of Beast of Chaos and Fyreslayers in recent times. Both are neglected in terms of range updates and narrative inclusion. Kind of alarming considering BOC's ultimate fate :(

Fyreslayers did play a role in early Dawnbringers what with the whole rivalry with King Trugg thing. Honestly I think Kharadron get about just as much attention in the narrative as Fyreslayers do and I see nobody saying they're neglected.

Btw, I find it kind of anoying that the new Grombindal mini isn't meant to be used in TOW on gw terms

    It's proxy time, guys!!!

You can easily just make something based on his 6E rules for the Old World. From a quick look the only real major problem I see is that his armour is a 1+ save which is no longer around, but if you make him a 2+ save rerolling ones because of the Gromril Armour special rule it should still work for sheer "unopenable tin can" levels.

Hum. It is curious how the trailer showed masked SCE but those are closer to CoS than SCE IMO. Also, the wings feel a bit strange. The trident is also a curious pick.

Could be masked and unmasked head options in the kit itself. IIRC the Dominion Stormcast had a bunch of helmeted and unhelmeted heads with them.
