Sometimes i really wonder how well some kits sell. Because i could be hyped about something that seems to sell so bad they need to be removed from the game.

Me too. Maybe sometimes GW is overambitious with AoS ? Or maybe the WFB grognards are right and "nobody wants to play Age of S**tmar" ? Maybe the game isn't selling as well as we think ? I mean, for what I've seen at my local gaming club, AoS is popular, but is it popular enough to warrant releases on the scale GW has done ? Maybe not, since they're retiring some kits.

Not sure if this was posted here already? But confirmation that shields or double hammers are just cosmetic without special rules

That's a huge step backwards and a big numbing down at depth and customisation.

With Bonesplitterz going I'm even more in favour of Ironjawz and Kruleboyz getting their own battletomes. I'd make Kruleboyz a proper sneaky ambusher faction now that Beasts of Chaos are being squatted, and expand them with some Gnashtoof light cav for example.

I think GW has struggled to balance Ironjawz, Kruleboyz and Big Waaagh in 3rd edition so I'd rather see them try to balance both Orruk factions individually and give them both more flavour without having to worry about the impact on Big Waaagh any more. I still think the model designs clash visually on the tabletop too.

I wouldn't be surprised though if GW integrates them further in a new Orruk Warclans battletome.

With the new regiment system, a pure IJ or KB army is gonna become repetitive very soon because you'll always get the same units even if you bring lots of unique heroes. Meanwhile wity Big Waagh, you can get an IJ frontline regiment with a megaboss, ardboyz and brutes, supported by a KB regiment with a gator and boltboyz... Opens up many possibilities.

Nothing that a "little" cogfort cannot fix.

No, because I'm gonna restraint from buying as 1/ a show of protest towards GW (I didn't buy a single GW product for a year when they cracked down on fan animations, and I'll do it again) and 2/ because I need to work on my pile of shame and I paint at a glacial pace.

Even if a centerpiece CoS model would be nice.

Strongly agree with this post, but I think people as mad as me are in the minority. Most people are still going to be excited about everything that gets posted/revealed.

I mean yeah every post does have SOME angry comments but idk about pure coldness (even if I do kinda wish they would so GW couldn't pretend people aren't upset)

Thing is, I genuinely want to be excited about the new edition because so far the rules look great and my army (Cities) is garanteed to get new stuff. The rule snippets look promising and I think this could unironically be the best edition of AoS gameplay wise.

But idk man... I can't bring myself to be excited, because I won't be able to experience the new edition with 100% of the community because some hobbyists are leaving AoS because of GW's souless business moves. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm like "yeeeeah... new rules are cool, because X or Y..." with little enthusiasm to show for it.

I feel like when the dust settles in a week or two, I'd probably feel more interested about the new edition.

Warscroll anatomy/breakdown for 4.0. Like the list building there's a fair bit of meat on the article.

This is good. I like the Liberators warscroll, for Nagash... idk it feels like a mouthful seeing it. The abilities are sort of just crammed together, let the little squares breathe a little bit. But at least after reading it, it does feel less like a mouthful, I got in one read what Nagash does, when and how he does it. So overall great even if I miss the miniature photo on the warscroll.

Also the colours make sense for the turn phases ! Red for bloody melee, orange for before melee (aggressive colour but less than red), gold for your precious heroes...

Now what is Power? It's mentioned on Nagash's scroll when he takes 10 or more damage points, but I can't spot any other reference to it? Is it to do with the control stat? I assume not as it would say so!

It's his power level, an estimation of the magical abilities of a wizard. Let me check Nagash's...Dragon Ball Z - Vegeta It's over 9000! meme (Green Screen) – CreatorSet

It's not really deleted if it comes back with an updated miniature ( and if you can still proxy your old mini for the new shiny one) but of course it would have been wiser from GW to explain which miniatures will be redone and which are truly going away

It would have been even wiser to not post this right now when we still don't do much about the v4. Because right now, they're sure that every single announcement about the new rules will be greeted with hostility, no matter what they annouce - it could be lovely Skaven minis or new rule previews (and unironically so far the rules do look promising) but it will be greeted with coldness at best. This squatting and its consequences have been a disaster for AoS.

    And about this :

Yes, but : there's an unspoken agreement that if you buy a recent mini (ie less than 10 years old), you are safe. It is like a covenant between GW and its customers. With the culling of Warcry and SCE stuff, GW has broken that covenant.

And about Legends : no one uses Legend rules except once or twice in casual circles. Legends is where miniatures go to die.

What a terrible response from the CM. "Models leaving will be receiving updated miniatures" like "we deleted all the stuff you had, but we're doing some new stuff, so come open your wallet for our new minis paypig".

But then again the CM probably has orders from on high and has to follow guidelines for responses.

Beastmen were always going to get transfered over when they were announced for the Old World, but i don't think they will fully disapear from AOS. They will probaly return as a detachment for chaos armies like god marked and some undivided Beastmen in a few years time. They have enough prescence in the lore that disapearing them Stalin style would just be wierd.

CSM got 40k Beastmen, maybe STD will get a unit of Gors next edition.

Looks like they want clearly clear cut armies for Chaos : Undivided, big 4, Skaven, Chorfs and I feel like they must’ve felt like BOC was “stepping ” on STD turf because they’re both undivided armies. But that opens the way for maybe undivided Beastmen in STD just like there is god marked Beastmen for Slaanesh and Tzeentch.

World eaters were even after the guard codex too, that army list needs some work or the faction is really going to suffer through 10th. No access to apostles, foot lords or champions was insane. Bikers, raptors and havocs also should've been included but I can at least understand why they're missing

It wouldn’t have happened if 40k had done like AoS and made a Khorne codex with WE and demons… instead 40k Chaos is a mess but this is another debate that is not the point of this thread.

The issue for Workshop is very simple; every time they do this, they lose customers to other companies. The SMART thing Workshop should have done was allowed FW to handle TOW. Period, end of story. IF the rumors are true - of course.

Yeah they'll definitely lose some customers over that, but those will be replaced by new players brought in by the new starter sets.

I think GW, like other big companies, works on a benefit/risk system. Looks like they wanted to trim down the AoS catalogue becasue they felt it was becoming bloated, they calculated the risks (losing customers), then the benefits (less range bloat, less costs, redirecting money to other more profitable projects) and decided the benefits outweighted the risk and gave the green light for squatting.

Is this a cold decision entirely based on numbers, stats and probabilities, driven by mercantile goals ? Yes. Is it how big companies operate now ? Sadly also yes.

I remember all those years ago when Ravening Hordes dropped and Chaos Dwarfs got nuked from Orbit, and all my big hats were suddenly uncompetitive. Even with the rules lasting through 6th, the army was just never popular again.

This is a very important statement because it shows what is happening right now isn't new - it's part of a time honored GW tradition going back to 2000.

I honestly think it's quite remarkable that the 1st ed Stormcast look so dated already. There have been some rapid redesigns in early GW history, but I would not have expected it on what is effectively the 9th edition of their fantasy IP. And it's also really interesting that it happened to their new poster boy faction. Other early armies did not age nearly as badly. Well, except Fyreslayers maybe.

I would be very careful with FS now. Especially their 1st edition units and foot heroes. This large scale squatting is setting a dangerous precedent for lines GW wants to redo with a whole new design - non thunderstrike SCE have shown that - and considering FS have been the butt of many jokes about their look... now I think the jokes about FS are less funny and more sinister even if I think the army isn't going anywhere.

  14. Speaking of, my gaming group's Discord one has had some interesting responses about the squatting. They think the free Legends BT are a cool move from GW. As we are mostly casual gamers (the tryhard tourney people have left a few years back), I think I'll still see BoC and BS hitting the table if I manage to find our old BS player.

Good evening everyone, I know most of you are still reeling from today's bad news. Unfortunately, there are more new leaks.

I know a lot of you are playing Total War Warhammer 3. I can officially confirm that if the dlc sales don't double during this year, the current plan is to end the saga in late 2026 / early 2027 with a final dlc called The End Times which will bring the Supereme Lord Nagash and Gray Seer Thanquol with Verminlords in the final cataclysmic dlc for Total War Warhammer 3

At the end of 2027, Warhammer 40K will either be announced or released.

Nagash - his lore & background from the Old World to the Mortal Realms!Thanquol and Boneripper

"If the DLC sales don't double" they won't. TWW feels really complete now, already has tons of DLC, and following the shadows of change debacle (which was 100% Sega's fault) and the very delayed release of thrones of decay (alongside the layoffs because once again Sega is making mistakes and paying them by ruining people's jobs and lives), I don't see them selling as much as let's say WH2 DLCs like TK or vampirates. Only big names missing from the game are Nagash, Thanquol and Neferata anyways.

Please explain this. I really don't get it.

Savage Orcs are Orcs from the Southlands aka “WFB Africa”, and they’re Stone Age primitives that are regarded as backwards even by the other Orcs. They’re known for their ritual dancing and chanting, playing drums, have war paints, are led by shamans and are known for carving wooden masks. Also in battle they like to rush their opponents super fast in hordes.

Aka, they’re essentially a fantasy version of 20th century stereotypes about African people and cultures. Especially the tabletop gameplay aspect, which to me feels like a direct stereotyping of the Brits’ visions of Zulus during their wars against each other.

I'll never burn by army but I do feel the need to cynically ask what they kids are supposed to do with them? D&D I guess?

Kids don't care about WYSIWYG, new releases and edition changes - just give them models and they'll play them as whatever they like. I got into Warhammer as a teen but all of my middle school friends who got into the hobby earlier than me played models as whatever they liked so long as it loosely fit the theme - Abaddon was loosely Abaddon and more like, whatever chaos character was needed that day, Tyranid monsters were pretty much interchangeable so long as the base size fit, Mephiston could be Calgar one game and a Farseer the next depending on who was borrowing your mini...

Give kids some Gors, and they'll be marauders, zombies, particularly mutated CoS steelhelms... For young uns', miniatures are miniatures and so always cool, that's what great about newer players.

  17. For me the saddest loss are the Warcry bands. BOC and Splittaz ? There was an entire thread about how the writing was on the wall for them. They had had no updates. Their participation in the lore was as token background extras. THW warned us. Most people (including myself, look at my posts in the BOC squatting thread) decided to huff hopium, burry our heads in the sand and say they're totally getting updates guys ! GW has plans for them ! Don't listen to Rob, he's lying to generate clout !

Sacrosanct... they were chunkcasts but they had some great kits like the Tauralon. But the Warcry bands ? They did so much to flesh out AoS by showing us how Chaos cultures developped in each realm. They were all flavourful minis. Yes their balance was iffy and they were artificially bloating the STD army list but each and every one of them were characterful.

Now what will you do ?

    • Proxy them as other minis ? Viable option.
    • Dismantle your models to get cool kitbash material ? Viable option.
    • Play them in TOW ? Viable option.
    • Be mad and post insults at GW on TGA about it ? Very uncool, you shouldn't do that.

The swearing filter is in overload at the moment and I've been tweaking things which have crept through.

Totally understand peoples feelings, but less swearing please. We want this forum for everybody!

People are angry and tbf GW has given them good reasons for that.

But just remember : anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering, etc etc...
