Alright, since we’re talking about this I’ll throw in my line: bring the tomb kings back to AOS. Seriously, just create a Ancient-Egyptian/Middle Eastern themed faction that focuses on warmachines and fast attack, create an oc Mortarch (I’m thinking “Mortarch of Eternity”) and have them be all about slowly expanding Shyish’s influence throughout the realms(desertification).

No. Tomb Kings need to remain in TOW so that the Ossiarchs can stand on their own without their old inspiration competing on their turf for the "organised undead empire" slot.

is anyone else considering buying a Vanguard box just for Spearhead?  Vince's podcast got me riled up with the idea and i figure it'd be a good way get back into the groove of the hobby.

Absolutely. Because I'll only need to paint the cannon and marshall to have a fully painted Spearhead force (I already have the steelhelms and cavaliers covered with the CoS launch box).

I have to say, that Darkoath lore is dope. I really love the duality they are going for with the Dawnbringers and the Darkoath. You can really understand why the Darkoath do what they do, and why they view Sigmar the way they do. It also leaves room for the Darkoath to still have people who just really love being evil in their ranks, but also someone like a darker Conan among them.

Really feels like GW actually read the stories Robert E. Howard wrote about Conan and understood them. Conan above all else hates “civilisation”, he views it as hypocritical and even if he interacts with it he’s always pretty jaded by it. In the world of Howard, “civilised” cultures always lack a bit of something the so called “barbarians” have… and they’re imperialist. And that whole “Dawnbringers vs Darkoath” narrative is pure Howard… with his Aquilonians vs the Cimmerians and Picts. With no clear good or bad sides and deeper meaning than a bunch of muscle bound barbarians might imply.

  4. I didn't say it yesterday but I like the changes to endless spells & invocations - giving them wounds and regular attacks makes sense when most of them are elemental magic like Demons or Nighthuant, or some even actual creatures.

Shoutout to FS players who just gained a new unit with the new Infernoth ! You now have 5 units to choose from that aren't heroes or static manifestations ! Yeah !

  5. Spoiler

Each faction’s Spearhead force is created from the contents of a single box – and all currently available Vanguard boxes will be rebranded as Spearhead boxes.

This is so good ! I hated how they gutted Combat Patrols in 10th - replacing all the 9th edition ones with new ones that offer less value for the exact same price. AoS won't suffer the same fate as 40k !

It looks like I will be playing a lot of Spearhead. This sounds so promising !

It’s 100% for the new edition. But lightning could be celestial lightning for SCE or warp lightning for Skaven. I’d say wait and see if it’s one or the other, but that’s already good if we can point a rumour engine to 2 specific factions.

I just looked back at the article, which conveniently has and image of the new Liberator and Reclusion adjacent to each other. The silver on the liberators is noticeably brighter. The darker tones on the Prosecutor and Reclusian are probably meant specifically for Ruination units (the article makes it clear that Prosecutors are now Ruination.)

I went back and noticed it too. That's a subtle and great way to differenciate Ruination SCE from regular ones, I like it a lot.

  8. Am I the only one to notice the Hallowed Knights steel armour is darker now ? Or is it just the way the minis are shot that's tricking me ? Peut être une image de texte qui dit ’WARHAMMER OF FSIGMAR AG GEOFS #NEWAOS STORMCASTETERNALS STORMCAST ETERNALS PROSECUTOR’

Really feels like their armour has gone from Leadbelcher to a darker metallic like Iron Warriors. Or they used more generous amounts of Nuln Oil.

(Down to the open helmet !)

In the John Blanche artworks the helmets look more like Aztec helmets, while these new miniatures' helmets remind me more of Corinthian helmets.

I really do feel like these new universal/Grand Alliance battle tactics were made as a response to how impactful faction specific battle tactics are in this edition - some factions lived or died by their battle tactics and how easy/difficult they were to score. At least now, you won't see degenerate SBGL players clogging the board with zombies to get easy battle tactics scoring (same goes for you Tzeentch).

I wonder however how certain factions that don't fit the "standard" mold of their GA will use their battle tactics. For example, the Order tactic they showed requires map control, something let's say SCE might do with teleporting or IDK with their fast units, but a more "castle" army like CoS might not score it.

As for me, these battle tactics are simple and straightforward, I'll have little problem remembering them by heart, which is great. Because this edition I had to constantly shuffle between documents to keep track of battle tactics.

  11. Lately, I have been feeling a bit down, and painting Warhammer has helped me deal with that. So I guess this is what keeps me motivated to paint : to know I am creating something beautiful, no matter how slow I paint (painting ~45 minutes a day when I can, it's gonna be slow).

BOC and BS were evicted, Skaven is getting updated now, which leaves Ogres. I would be very surprised if they did not get a revamp at some point in the next three years. Unless they are the being saved for 5th launch. [...]

Ogres:(6) Maneaters, Butcher, Yhetees, Sabers, Slaughtermaster, Firebelly

The fact the number of Ogres resin/metal kits went to 7 to 6 recently when plastic Gorgers were added via Warcry is a very good sign they'll get a revamp somewhere down the line. And Ogres are quite popular from my experience, it'd be weird no to capitalise on that.

I didn't see them in person, but I find it a pretty solid peace. In fact, I am looking for them, but a newer version would be cool as well.

I'd be so cool if they made some made to order with these old AoS terrain pieces...

  14. Hi everyone !

I wanted to start a more relaxed and fun thread about our small anectodes and secrets about the hobby. I was inspired by Louise Sugden's video on that same topic on Rogue Hobbies, and thought "why not bring it to TGA ?". So, a thread were we can banter, tell each other funny little stories, things like that.

This is meant to be a judgment free place, so please don't mock fellow TGA members if they share some weird stories they had while engaging in our favourite hobby. We're a positive place !

As I'm starting this thread, I guess it's up to me to tell you my hobby secret. I have never won a single game of AoS, ever. And I play since 1st edition... My performances in game range from "valiant attempt at winning" to "getting absolutely crushed in 2 rounds". Tbf I don't play often so I forget how to play my lists between games, but it's still rough. I hope AoS4 will give me my first Warhammer W.

    That's my story. What's yours ?

  15. I like what they showed today. A 4 rounds universal scenario is perfect for casuals like me who don't want to be bogged down in 5 rounds game that can take a lot of time. And underdog mechanics are perfect for people like me (I lose a lot of games of AoS). I'm not playing general's handbook yet, but it's unusually generous from GW to include it in the launch box, so I like it. More of this kind of behaviour please GW.

I like the suggested scenery placement. When I was a beginner (I'm still a bit at playing the game), some players in my FLGS would manipulate the scenery so they had the good terrain on their side... This won't be happening anymore with this, I hope.
