@Cyna   The hero choices are really up to you.  I have been playing with a tidecaster so I can use two rituals.   Lotan is awesome for his +1 to wound bubble on everything including mounts but I suspect that it’ll be faq’ed to match the rest of the army.   I think 20 thralls will do work for you.  The damage output of those dudes is amazing.  I’m excited to get my 50 back so I can get them on the table

Now I am thinking to make something like this:

    • Akhelian King
    • Akhelian Thrallmaster
    • Isharann Tidecaster
    • Lotann, Warden of the Soul Ledgers
    • 3x Akhelian Allopexes
    • 6 x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard
    • 10 x Namarti Reavers
    • 20 x Namarti Thralls

Solid units, u can do the Ionrach strat with your 6 morrsarr and king. Do know when you go over 3 heroes, you will be forced to at least a 2 drop army, since the 1 drop will only take 3 heroes. I would think about what you really like to do here. There's a lot utility in these lists. If you go namarti heavy, the tidecaster is nice (you can drop a second boat through the artefact and you can double dip the high tide and low tide rituals), if not, Lotann often is better. Both could work, but you do fight for points here. Since you go for the Eidolon of the Sea, you might want to consider getting a turtle at some point. The combo of turtle with eidolon is pretty great in terms of sustain and healing potential. It will take a big chunk of your list, but every single unit bar the eidolon will benefit from the turtles abilities. You could consider running a Nautilar list with 1 turtle in that case and it's special monstrous action, while having namarti fill up the rest of the battleline slots. Nautilar is a great place for a mixed list, so is Ionrach. You can always switch out a character for the Thrallmaster, but you are running too little Thralls to do that imo. Unless you 20 blob a thrall unit I guess. Yeah, for you i'd suggest Ionrach/Nautilar. You'll have fun.

Ok thanks. I wanted to insert the Eidolon because it seemed to me as I looked at other spreads that this is a must have in the army.  If not what would you suggest to throw in instead of Eidolon? I was thinking to throw in an extra 10 thralls and 10 reavers. Or would 20 thralls be better? If I gave up on Eidolon and wanted to stick with 3 leaders with Thrallmaster, which leader would be better to remove Lottan or Tidecaster and in their place I was thinking of putting Allopex.

  4. Hello,

Im build my first army and for now i have:

    • Akhelian King
    • 6x Akhelian Morrsarr Guard
    • 2x Akhelian Allopexes
    • 10 x Namarti Reavers
    • 10 x Namarti Thralls.

I want to add to that for 2k:

    • Eidolon of Mathlann, Aspect of the Sea
    • Lotann, Warden of the Soul Ledgers
    • Isharann Tidecaster
    • 10 x Namarti Thralls

What do you think, will something like this be ok?

.I have also Akhelian Thrallmaster but i think there is no space for him, what do you think?

If sharks get a battleline option I think starting with a small shark-centric force will be a good idea. Namarti are much more appealing with all of the pieces to buff and support them and I'm not sure how effective they will be in smaller engagements with limited resources. Sharks, on the other hand, just do their thing and don't really care about support. So going with sharks for an easy to get on the table starter force could be great, and allow you to add namarti/eels/turtles/heroes as you expand.

Than its okay to make something like this: Akhelian Morrsarr Guard + Akhelian Ishlaen Guard + Akhelian King?

Than looking for something to add?

You could start with the starter box, but why not starting with the ne Fury of the Deep box? Both are narmati heavy, which where week in the past. Buts as we expected a new book (new rules, new point values) for Idoneth Deepkin it is hard to judge and to propose a list in the moment.

I thing IDK could be pretty strong in smaller games when opponents can't bring their huge centerpieces.

Other than that we are expecting a new book soon so it is hard to tell how the meta will shift. If you like the infantry side of Deepkin and know a Fyreslayer player you can split the new "Fury of the Deep" battle box which would bring you up to 575 points for little money.

So I guess the best solution is to wait for the new book and then choose which characters to buy.

    Hi and welcome.

The third round is (in the current ruleset) a strong point for IDK because all their stuff hits first in the combat phase in both turns. (Or turn two if you reserse the order of the tides.) But it is more that you want your whole army in position to fight in round three and not so much that you don't do anything before that.

Especially now that victory points were more important than kills you cannot afford not to score in the earlier rounds. You might pick your battles a little more careful to not be tied up in combat with a less important target.

Also I would probably try to get up to 1000 points. At least in my area smaller games are uncommon.

In my city I have tournaments for newbies up to 750 points. But I have an impression that with this faction it is hard to win with such a small amount of points. Could you tell me which characters I should buy first? Will the starter box be a good solution to buy something else to start with?

  8. Hi.
I want to start my AOS adventure and I liked Idoneth Deepkins.  From what I read it is a heavily defensive faction and you have to wait until the third round to attack with full power. As I'm new I will build my first army to max 400-700 points. Is it possible to win games with such amount of points by waiting a few rounds or does it only work with armies which have 2000 points and building smaller armies of Idoneth Deepkins makes no sense?
