Have you considered allying in a mindstealer sphiranx instead of taking the dreadful visage, or in addition to it? It's more reliable since it needs no cast and cant be unbound (while also giving you a monster), but the dreadful visage does have the advantage of being able to move before applying its effect, giving it a longer threat range which could be decisive.

I’ve actually run a list with both. I’ve found the range from the Visage keeps me using it instead of the Sphiranx

Looking forward to seeing the outcome with this list!

I’ve been tempted by the dreadful visage. I found in my previous game I couldn’t risk sending in multiple units sometimes because of the strike-back in my opponents activation. I’d love to hear how it works out.

what’s your game plan with the list?

My general plan is to scream loudly and try not to die! In all seriousness, I played a similar list as the one I mentioned above against DOK last weekend and ending up winning with DOK conceding bottom of 2. The twinblade units were able to really perform as long as I was careful with their targets. Sigvald and Glutos were both great distractions and tanked quite a lot. The Dreadful Visage did 3-4 mortal wounds every time it moved and allowed me to charge into targets I'd usually not because of strike last.

I'm thinking as long as I play cagey I can squeak out a few wins. Looking forward to trying anyway!

  3. Greetings fellow Hedonites,

List is below and I'll be sure to provide updates on how I did. I've found that there are two things I cant leave home without when it comes to Slaanesh; Glutos and the Dreadful Visage.

The other thing I'm wondering about is why have Chronomatic cogs? They're not bad by any stretch, but in this list both Glutos and the chariot will likely outrun them and I believe you need to stay near them to keep getting that +1 to charge as you need to keep spinning cogs every turn (may be misremembering here). You could swap the cogs and trade 5 Twinsouls for 5 Painbringers and give yourself 65 free points (70 overall) for the Shackles or Spell Portal to mess with someone's day a bit more, or even the Emerald Lifeswarm for more healing. It wouldn't be a major change, but you may find it useful.

What parts do you usually struggle on when playing? :)

Cogs was mainly because I had 50 points left over when I built all of it. It gives +1 to charge if you're wholly within "18. I may tinker with the suggestions you made, thanks! As far as struggles, over the course of my games, it seems spreading myself thin is an issue, so that's more a play style correction I need to make. Other then that its a double turn missed here or there, or whiffing in combat etc. Only a few of my games have been total blow outs ( where I get tabled handily ) however most have been closer matches for sure.

  5. I have a 1 day event coming up this weekend, 3 games.  I've played around 14 games in the new edition with Hedonites and only taken one win. I'm hoping this list will bring the luck. The Dreadful Visage has actually done fairly well for me, so I'm doubling down with fight last by adding the Sphiranx. The Bladebringer has also performed well, the charge damage combined with the combat phase damage has been good. Being Godseekers and If I get cogs out I'm looking at +2 to charge as well. The Dread Pageant is a newer unit for me, only used them in one game, but figured they can be a decent unit as a glass cannon. Overall thoughts?

So working on nurgle lists with the points changes. I'm really interested in running 2 battalions...

Allegiance: Nurgle - Host of Chaos: Drowned Men

Lord of Afflictions (190)  - General - Command Trait : Bloated Raider - Artefact : Rot Kraken Hide

Harbinger of Decay (160)  - Artefact : The Witherstave

Lord of Blights (140)  - Artefact : Rustfang

    2 x Pusgoyle Blightlords (190)

    2 x Pusgoyle Blightlords (190)

    2 x Pusgoyle Blightlords (190)

    5 x Putrid Blightkings (140)

    5 x Putrid Blightkings (140)

    5 x Putrid Blightkings (140)

    5 x Putrid Blightkings (140)

1 x Slaves to Darkness Chaos Spawn (50)

1 x Slaves to Darkness Chaos Spawn (50)

Trying to work in an affliction cyst, because my meta is super shooting heavy and plaguebearers can't stand up to the firepower of the usual cities players I face.

I ran almost this exact list recently ( buddies and I started putting battle reports on YouTube just search for "Happenstance Wargaming" and its the most recent one). I found it worked pretty well, and that was even with me forgetting a ton of rules ( forgot locus of corrosion and the virulent discharge from the Kings). The main difference was that I ran them as the Munificent Wanderers:  the Pusgoyles will then bounce mortal wounds back when they get hit by a roll of 6 if near the general, plus they worsen the rend of the enemies melee weapons by 1. The vanguard of Pusgoyles drop down to score you points early in the game and should hold out until you get the Blight Kings to where you need them, plus its a two drop as the Harbinger fits into the Blight Cyst. I would just throw the Muttergrub on the Lord of Blights so I can cast to move the Nurgle wheel when needed.

  7. Apologies if someone covered this in the past, but, interesting thought with Skullreapers. Their "Trial of Skulls" ability reads "You can re-roll hit rolls for attacks made by this unit if the target unit has 5 or more models". That means you can re-roll both failures, and importantly, successes.  I had only been re-rolling fails, but with this you can re-roll all of those 1s. 2s. 3s. 4s and 5s! You are basically fishing for more 6's to get mortal wounds as 6's to hit trigger a mortal wound in addition to other damage.  Reapers put out a lot of attacks and being able to re-roll all those dice to fish for more mortal wounds seems pretty good to me! Pick up a few extra mortal wounds here or there.  I am usually pretty happy with how my Skullreapers perform, and am excited to see how they perform with this little boost

  8. Havent seen an Archaon/Slaanesh list recently! So I threw together a fun little list to take.  Archaon lets the heroes all pop off their abilities every turn. Fun double pile in and attack with Archaon and Varanguard, and I threw the hero on foot to buff the Varanguard; extra attacks generated on 6s, but, they are +1 to hit because Archaon is on the field. They each have 6 swings, so 18 swings extra attacks on 5s and can pile in and attack twice. Just thought it'd be a fun list to try out! I haven't played enough Slaanesh to pick artifacts and traits and all that yet.  And I dont quite understand what the Invaders host does now that all heroes can use command abilities for CPs.

    Allegiance: Slaanesh
    - Host: Seekers
    Mortal Realm: Ulgu
    Chaos Lord Of Slaanesh (100)
    Keeper Of Secrets (260)
    - General
    - Trait: Invigorated by Pain
Lord Of Slaanesh On Daemonic Mount (140)
    Archaon (660)
    20 x Daemonettes Of Slaanesh (200)
    20 x Daemonettes Of Slaanesh (200)
    5 x Hellstriders Of Slaanesh (100)
    - Claw spear
    3 x Varanguard (280)
    - Ensorcelled Weapon
    - Allies
    Geminids of Uhl-Gysh (40)
    Soulsnare Shackles (20)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 280 / 400
    Wounds: 107
