  1. Pretty simple idea from me. I'd like to see a human mercenary race with a greek/hoplite aesthetic, which can be marked either chaos, order, death or destruction with different allegiance abilities for each. I cant really elaborate more because i'm not creative enough :P

I guess both of you do not have any hard rules reference to back up your claims? I searched for this in the FAQ/Designer´s commentary but could not find anything about it. Personally I think that @Connelj2 is right, though. Is there a reasonable way of defining the position of a model on the battlefield other than using the center of its base?

A mate of mine ran changehost at a 70 player tournament two weeks ago and was swapping his loc with units of pinks and no issue was raised, also just going from my memory from when the tzeentch book first dropped it was played the same way. I haven't seen a FAQ addressing this battalion at all.

Is that one squad of 30 witches doing the classic Relocation Orb zig-zag up front there?  Although Daughters are probably the premiere melee army in the game I have found you do have to be careful not to deploy/move into a position where your blender units can be locked down, and in your scenario above it looks like the VLoZD can tag a small portion of the screening unit and also get in 3" of the other big Witch unit behind the first? (Though obviously that's just eyeballing it) where the first unit will not have enough models in range to chip through a 3+ re-rolling 1s save, and the second unit will be stuck behind the first unit.  Then if the second VLoZD reaches the other side of the screening witch squad they'll get stuck and your whole army will get snarled up in a grindy combat (couple that with any debuffs to make things take longer, as you rightly said).  You can get similar scenarios against buffed Frostheart Phoenix (Which combine good saves and debuffs in one fast moving package!), Stardrakes (A save stat which Witches will not be able to chew through, and it can use its chomp attacks to potentially kill half your unit via coherency removal) and sometimes stuff like Plaguebearers.  Anything that leaves you stuck in place for more than a turn is going to be costly for Daughters I find.

I'm not particularly good at avoiding this myself!  I never have enough screening elements to block properly, and I', bad at deployment anyway.  Sometimes it's just a case of knowing when to retreat one or more of the pinned units, reversing the situation for a turn or two by leaving their bruiser units stuck fighting your defensive Hagg Nar screen whilst you go score objectives until you're in a position to strike back.  Slaughter Troupe can help with this, though then you'd need more Sisters of Slaughter over Witches.

I agree completely with what you said.

I knew the vlozd would chew through the 10 man blocker letting me get most but not all of the 30 blob around him in 3 turns of piling in.

Next time ill keep them away from 3" instead of 2, ive come accustom to keeping my big blobs just in range of my screens so i can pile into what ever hits it and start chopping it up.

  4. I was cornered by 2 VLOVD in relocation orb turn 1 basically pinning my whole army into place. I did position in such a way that he would hit my chaff with my big blocks then pilling in and attacking.

I thought with 3 rounds of combat,  my combat his turn, my hero phase combat and then my combat phase turn 1 they'd be dead. Apparently i was wrong haha.

For clarification i was using double bladed witches.

Cheers for clarifying catachysm is unmodified tho.  Thanx people.

Hello everyone!  Any reality to the "rumors" that HAGG NAR will be getting nurfed?  What I have heard is that the 7" 5+ Fanatical Faith save will be altered to "wholly within" 14" of the general?  Thanks in advance....

What is your source for hearing this? Personally i think i could deal with that change, still a 28 inch bubble.

I want to start with a DoK army soon, using the Battleforce as a solid basis.

Now I am having some very noobish questions:

When I play a Cauldron with whatever Queen on top, does the Avatar come (pointwise) for free?

I understand that he is activated by a Queen praying to Khaine, but when he comes "alive" can it move independently from the Cauldron?

What happens to the Avatar if the Cauldron dies while he is activated/not activated?

Perhaps there are even more things but this is the stuff that Comes to my mind right now.

    Thanks for any help!

Yea the Avatars for free mate,
Once the Cauldron is gone so is the Avatar.

Ps the Avatar is a beat stick and you can't use the blood shooting attack unless he's animated.

What is your painting process, and how do you do your bases?

I Batch paint everything,  most of the mini is just washes over a white primer,  the skin wash being a custom one i made out of russ grey/guilliman blue and black, the hair being crimson red.

For the bases i coat the top in khorne red then just use blood for the blood god for the blood effects. I had to set the skulls in the blood while it's wet so it looks like the skulls are partially submerged.

That depends; GW could stick to the Generals Handbook releases for changes like that; so we'd see it next year. That wouldn't be totally daft since we can hope/expect/wish that 2019 will be pretty heavy on AoS Battletome releases (if nothing else, though I note that GW isn't making the same promises and noise that they were about releasing 40K codex). Otherwise if they think its a bigger issue it might appear at any time.

Personally I would hope that its an adjustment that won't break the functionality of such lists, just weakens them down to fit better into the standard performance of other armies. It's often a good thing to wait a bit on these because sometimes an army appears very powerful, but its more a result of other players not learning how to deal with it rather than the army itself being broken (I'm not arguing for nor against this line of thinking in relation to DoK, just stating it as a general point).

Also Power creep of new armies will likely push DOK down a peg or two, We're still to see how BOC will do once lists settle.
Not including  the rumoured Slaanesh and Moonclans armies dropping.

I wonder if they might try something else. As the core of the issue appears to be lots of witches and hag queens, they'd have to increase the points by a lot to shut that down at 2K points; by which point all they are doing is not actually dealing with the power core of the army, just making it so that players who choose that can take less other options - which makes hte army even more focused and boring to play/play against.

I'd rather they took a step in another direction and considered other aspects to change. For example they could make it a unit with a prayer buff cannot receive a spell buff at the same time; reduce the aura bonus for getting extra attack, heck they could even make it a 4+ to hit for witches. Those kind of changes might feel harsher, but they address the actual power point of the models if they are seriously broken against other units. Of course points might be a softer means to changing things which might be a better approach toward taking smaller steps to tweak the system rather than larger changes which can result in big shifts.

I was thinking of making the hag queens sippy cup a once per game ability. Leave the points as they are.
Might not be a real popular move as it's so powerful, but by turn 4 it's almost irrelevant anyway.

Did you guys see the Nova results?

Excluding painting, DoK armies were ranked 4th, 8th and 9th place. Seems like DoK is fitting very well in the current meta, Tier 1 fraction.

Stole this data from honest wargamer, clearly DOK is sitting in a real good place at the moment.

Are there any allies with a command ability we can use if we decide to go with Medusae as a general?  Trying to figure out what the heck to use command points on in that army.

Immune to battleshock, auto move 6" for a run, re roll charges.

Still plenty for command points to be used on.

You will need a few Queens, their prayers are just awesome. ??‍♀️

You should have 1 hag and 1 slaughter queen from each Blood Coven box.

I do believe Morathi's command ability stacks with the Slaughter Queen's command ability allowing a single DoK units to attack twice during the Hero Phase. Pretty sure nothing much can stand up against 20 Witches attacking twice in the Hero Phase and one last time during Combat Phase.

Another favorite combo of mine is to have a Bloodwrack Shrine Medusa cast Steed of Shadow on herself and flying around the place causing havoc with her Mortal Wounds.

Both Morathi and slaughter queen have to be the general to activate their command abilities,  so you wont be getting double activations on units.
