This should be a fairly strong list. What might be a problem is your lack of bodies though. Before going to the two day 74 person GT this past weekend, I had experimented with running another unit of Blood Knights instead of Grave Guard and Zombies. Problem is the Blood Knights are expensive and in your case you have no chaff in your list. Nor do you have something to soak up Unleash Hell. Finally, having some summonable units will allow you to use the Grave Sites along with a chance to resummon them in the battleshock phase. Those components were critical to my eventual 4-1 and 3rd place overall finish in the GT. There were a couple other Kastelai lists that were at the GT, one running 4 units of BKs and another running 5 units of BKs, they performed alright. From a theme perspective I love this list. If you do run this list I recommend Blood Thirsty Triumph to get the re-roll charge. You will want to Out Flank 1-2 units of BKs to make your opponent think twice about deployment and the Triumph that you will almost certainly get at 1940 pts will help get them in.

Also, one other thing I forgot to point out is the lack of mortal wound output in this list. It will have a difficult time getting through good armor, which is the reason I dropped a unit of Blood Knights and Skeletons in favor of 20 Grave Guard with Great Weapons.

Thanks for advice, yea I was thinking maybe the 10 wolves spawned by radukar might be good enough for chaff but I could be wrong. Mortals wounds lacking is also a issue potentially.

Does it have to be 40? Would you consider 35? or 30?

Drop another unit from the below and you can add Belladamma.

    I was thinking. Thoughts?

    VLOZD

    BELLA

    35 BKs

  4. Really trying to make a 40 BK army work.  Having troubles with what heroes to take with the 440Pts left over. The options are a VLOZD, vengorian lord and radukar the wolf/V lord, or Bella and Wright king on steed. Anyone got some thoughts or played a list with similar amount of BKs??

…….FAQ, yes I own 40, can show proof lol

Vs Lumineth specifically? I think it's probably worse than with Radukar and 10 Dire Wolves but 30 Blood Knights is 30 Blood Knights.

If just talking about a general all purpose list I also prefer the Radukar version but VLoZD version is certainly fine. I'd also be tempted to try 5x5 Blood Knights and swap the VLoZD for Vhordrai, plus either 20 zombies and 3 Fell Bats or 2x3 Fell Bats.

I'd also generally go 2x Battle Regiment over 2x Battle Regiment and hunters. I don't think immunity to rampage on 3 units is worth +2 drops. YMMV though.

Meant take  all corners in general, was reading your battle report and trying to figure a good healthy medium. Going to Houston Gt end of the month and it seems to be looking sons, ogres, and sce heavy

I've had a ton of success against Lumineth with Soulblight so far, although with the caveat that I've only faced the typical Zaitrec or Syar Teclis + Vanari lists. Usually it's Teclis, 20-40 wardens, 20-40 sentinels and one other hero.

I've won basically all of my games against these types of lists, and most of the games have been very lopsided.

    Here are my observations:

    • Lumineth's strength is suppressing heroes both through highly targeted mortal wounds and through things like Total Eclipse. The less reliant you are on heroes the better you will be.
    • Lumineth's weakness is that they tend to have to castle in order to keep their units buffed effectively, and overall their mobility is limited. Lumineth often struggles with objective play and to some extent with battle tactics. The plans where they have an easier time on objectives they tend to have a harder time on tactics.
    • Lumineth can deal very focused and targeted damage well but their overall damage output is very low. This can be exploited by favoring defensively efficient units.

The natural conclusions to draw from these observations is that you should not overly rely on heroes, you should take advantage of opportunities to play the objectives, and you should focus on packing the board with a lot of bodies/wounds. Expensive characters are bad vs. Lumineth, although it's unlikely that they can be avoided completely if you are using an all-comers list as you need at least some heroes for certain battleplans. I've found that Mannfred, the Necromancer, and Radukar are the best heroes. Mannfred doesn't need to get in combat and isn't easy to kill. He will probably die, but at least your opponent will need a turn or two to get the job done. Small Radukar and the Necromancer are both disproportionately difficult to kill due to bodyguard. Big Radukar at least leaves behind some wolves.

Grave Guard are not good against Lumineth due to poor defensive efficiency. Blood Knights are much better, and Zombies are also great. Dire Wolves can be useful, too.

The list that I've tried that dunked on Lumineth the hardest is very simple:

    Mannfred

    Radukar the Beast

    6x5 Blood Knights

    10 Dire Wolves

    2x Battle Regiment

They will probably kill Mannfred on turn 1 or 2, but that hardly matters. Just run up and smash. If you get the double turn it's over instantly, if not they may be able to kill some Blood Knights but when they kill a unit or two there are plenty more.

    What do you think of

    Manfred

    VLoZD

    6 x 5 Blood knights

    battle regiment

    hunters

Anyone got any tips/videos for running Nagash in Soulblight?

Gonna try it out for the first time on Sunday.

Tips: I’ve noticed that nagash is a better debuffer/tanker than damage dealer. Not sure what the rest of your list is, but you for sure need hammers so nagash can be your anvil.

  8. Anyone notice that Poland team tournament that was running

    Nagash

Wight knight w/ rousing and fragment

    4 x 5 bloodknights

    Corpse cart

The list was repeated throughout multiple teams. Not sure how it would do in a singles open style GT. Thoughts?

How many chaos spawn should we have available in our summoning pool? With just a Magister I'm guessing that 2 would be plenty, but what about a magic focused list with Kairos + Magister + Blue Scribes? What's the most you've ever ended up with on the battlefield at the same time?

I have 4 spawns, and I run what you stated above, never really felt I needed more. Most of the time they’re killed right away because you’re using them as chaff blockers most of Time.

Well guys, looks like I'm in. I picked up the army book today.

Just ordered 2 Bats, 2 Zombies, Wolves, Wight King and Belldamma, I'll pick up some Blood Knights and Vengorian from my LGS as I know they have them in stock.

I can't believe the VLOZD only comes in the Start Collecting FEC box. wtf.

I bought two boxes of start FEC and just sold the Ghouls and horrors 🤣

It looks quite a lot like the 5-6 of the last bastardized Dynasty lists we’ve seen here.

You’ll need to risk Mannfred in order to buff things with him, Blood Knights are always hammers, all they need is All-out attack and a reasonably fast friendly unit to help minimalize their target’s pile-in and swing back.  The Vengorian protection aura will only do it if he’s in base to base, for the most part, and it doesn’t do much to protect units around him as much as it works for himself.

I’d get rid of Manny and the Wolf, bring the Beast a Spellportal and another fell bat squad.  The extra spawned puppies will help herd everything for your Knights, you can afford to burn some wolves on Belladamma’s command ability, which will win you games for not only taking the objective but helping to ensure nobody can contest them if they get too close.  Spellportal for early Lycancurses and Fellbats for clipping/unleash hell friends. Just my two cents.

Thanks for your advice, I’m trying to test a bunch of different variations to see what sticks

  12. Thoughts on this??? I was thinking with manFred and other heroes, you can just turn the blood knights into hammers while maintaining their durability with the vengorian lord. Fell bats for chaff and wolves for protection and chaff

that would be bloody terrible for competitive or casual... DOA

.. unless BR Kragnos has some sort of never before seen level of buffs... which it wont.

I agree, Based on the new vamp knight release and dark eldar, I can see kragnos actually being  cheap and cost effective. It doesn’t make sense financially to ruin him

  15. Hey y’all, new to this army. I came from playing competitive 40k and got into a competitive AoS scene down by me. However, Still new to AOS, been playing pick up games to learn, was wondering if I can get some feedback on my list below. I did some of my own research and tried to fine tune the list based off other tournament results but curious what y’all think.
