    Unpopular opinion.

I actually loved the customization available in whfb. It was actually possible to have different builds for the same hero/ unit. I doubt it would ever come back though.

I miss building lists this way and really making an army my own, sweet nostalgia.

I completely agree, I'm a big fan of it too, and I hope TOW has it. In addition to the customization, it was a nice way to eat up some points if you didn't have enough models (which I feel is part of the reason it was axed).

Skaven is a big ctrl + c / ctrl + v. That said I do think overall they will be fine. It's not an army I know much about ever since plague monk spam went away.

Any word on if they removed or changed the mono-clan battleline rules?

Btw, if revealing only one skaven was a marketing strategy for more announcements to come, it's totally backfiring on them. All skavendom is kinda raging at the internet, and some have even started to criticize the new model (in my opinion, a bit unfair given that it's a cool model and removes a finecast one, even if it wasn't that needed) which I'm sure it's not very good for GW's business atm

Finecast aside, I do like the old one more. The new one's nice, but I prefer the current one's 3 weapon stance.

I wonder if DawnBringer Crusade moulds will also be the basis for The Old World releases. I can see generic fantasy human, elf and dwarf troops with AOS and TOW themed upgrade spruces or resin add on kits. Similar to the plastic mk 3 & 4 marines and shoulderpads.

The fact that it seems a few years away gave me the same impression. Having a range that works in two different systems would be appealing.

    That's a revenant. ( most likely a new kind )

Not gonna lie, a ranged battleline unit and some cavalry would give Sylvaneth just about everything I like in an army. Bonus points if that ends up being the rumoured bug cavalry.

    "A Kurnoth (Reborn)" What?

I think it's their guess for the Sylvaneth-looking silhouette shown today. That or hoping for models similar to Skaeth's Wild Hunt.

    Spoiler

I suppose if a new Skaven battletome was guaranteed before, it's now double-plus guaranteed.

I'm very curious what direction they go in for a Vanguard box. Do you go for a specific clan, or a mix? Either way, hoping it leads to some kind of internal coalition rule.

Rejoice Cities players, now you too can get grand strategies, battle tactics and battalions you will never ever use!

Is there any chance Misthavn could finally get a spell lore, or was them not having one intentional? I don't think I ever heard one way or the other on that.

I think that with the increased save to most Stormcast that is exactly what is needed to improve Chaos Warriors and Knights. Even if they do not get the same additional improvement to hit and wound rolls of their angelic rivals, the increased save potential will make them much more potent and make shield a more tempting option. This would also make Cultists and Marauders with their lighter armour fill a very different niche.

I'm not sure if adding one would make them broken, but it's weird that there's no sub-faction that focuses on Knights or Warriors. Obviously you can buff them with command abilities or spells, but considering there's 2 for Varanguard it always felt like there was one Knight/Warrior sub-faction missing.

I’m actually hoping that the whole battleline system of the skaven gets a rework in the next battletome.

Something like clanrats and stormvermins can be taken in any clan, and not break the battleline rule for the other specific clans

I don't know if it would be busted, but I would love for them to just follow how it works with Cities. Your general determines your special battleline (beyond clanrats and stormvermins) and then just pick the clan as a subfaction. So Skryre generals gives Stormfiends/Acolytes, Esshin Gutter Runners, etc. I guess the main problem with this approach is that it's probably not thematically accurate.

IMO living city is the way to go. Throw in 2 boxes of wild riders, 2-3 boxes of eternal guard maybe a box of sisters of the watch and a Treelord as the centerpiece with a nomad prince as the hero. Not sure if the cost is right but that would give you a nice variety of units and a centerpiece.

Alternatively maybe a demigryph + griffon box could work

I could see that, especially since Dark Elves and Dwarfs are already represented in the SC boxes.

I am pretty open minded about what constitutes as a dragon:

I keep praying for some sort of Skaven internal Coalition rule that lets you take 1-in-4 units from another clan and keep your main clan's traits, just for the Abomination. I want to run an elite Skryre list full of Stormfiends, Doomwheels and a HPA. Probably lose every game but the whole list is only 15-20 models.

  13. They had one in 2019, but perhaps another Skaven box, this time focusing on Skryre? Basically a fleshed out Feast of Bones with some Stormvermin and Doom Flayers or something.

I also wouldn't mind a CoS box, though I wonder what direction you go with it. Would you make it a proper soup of Freeguild/DE/Ironweld units, or do you focus on a specific city or race?

It might only be one shot. Of course, to be fair, that shot will probably be a chunk of mortal wounds with the kruleboy poison rules.

If you can buff it with the Pot Grot, I guess that means each 5+ equals +1 damage and a Mortal Wound. I also have to assume that there's no cap on the MWs since it's separate from the damage.

  15. So the way the article is written, particularly the "Brave Shootaz" section, it makes it seem like you can take subfactions in Big Waagh!. It mentions Big Yeller Boltboyz and then adding in Bonegrinz Arrowboyz. Was that how it worked before, or am I just reading this wrong and it's talking about if you played Kruleboyz or Bonesplitterz exclusively?

  16. Umbraneth Meltlords, that picture represents a new battleline unit. They coat their armour in cheese, any time they take a wound in melee roll a die. On a 6, the attacker takes a mortal wound (cheese is hot) and can't retreat from combat (cheese is sticky).

On rumors, the chaos tome might be skaven since much of their abilities don't really work with the new edition (overwhelming mass and clanshields especially) and giants rats with the new size can't use their whole warscroll. The new sizes are strange as well, since Stormvermin are 10 minimum 30 maximum and come in boxes of 20. Maybe it points to a rewrite where the changes make more sense?

I'm not sure if this would be busted, but I'd love for Skaven to get some kind of internal Coalition rule. Like 1-in-4 can be from a different clan and not lose the mono-clan benefits. Like for example, you could go Skryre and have your Stormfiend battleline, but still take a Hell Pit Abomination.

To me, the popularity of these types of conversions highlights the fact that there is a real demand for more "toned down" design. While I am sure some like stormcast sculpts, I know some of us are put off by the over the top design paradigm.

I like some wacky stuff, otherwise I'd be playing historicals, but I like some semblance of "normality" too. Face masks or "everyone is Gelt now" has never appealed to me.

Yeah, with the new slimmed down armour the only problem I have left with Stormcast are their heads. Or rather, the sort of lightning crown thing they all have. I'd prefer more knightly helms to the Gelt mask, but even just removing the crown makes them way better.

  19. I'd be cool with an alligator or frog, but I wonder if they'd go in a different swamp-y direction. Something like a giant catfish or leech? Maybe cross the catfish with a whale shark, it just glides across the ground with it's mouth open. It just swallows people, never chews.
