  1. Having a store group pay an exclusivity deal is good way to make sure they try to push your product. And those products are meant for capturing more casual TT customers who never go to their stores in the first place. Putting those in the usual stores isn't an objectif and if the usual customers really want it they can always find a way to get one (even though it can be expensive in a market without any of those exclusivity deals).

  2. I don't get why you'd spend $500 of toy soldiers, spend a dozen of hours assembling it, then feel satisfying to leave it as an unreadable grey goo on the table. (when it is not a problem of time to paint)

If warhammer was really about the strategy game part it would be played with little wooden blocks with weapons written on it.

If you feel like tt standard is gatekeeping, your 3 colors are going to ruin your models, I think you invested in the wrong hobby. I mean it with no intent to be dismissive, but the total war games is probably going to be a better way  to spend your time while enjoying warhammer. Because the miniature game isn't that good it is worth to spend the money and time required even without painting to be played.

    Big question.

Will GW make the updates to the battletome free from another source without needing to buy a chonky mag for 6 pages of rules?

I don't even mind paying tbh, but I resent carrying around another book to find all my rules for 1 faction.

You can cut the 3 pages you want .

Or Warhammer Vault looks like it has a 6 months delay with white dwarf.

Sure, it's not nice to deal with. But that's the difference between a random bunch of strangers and a community - we come together to support each other, even when someone's having a bad day and lashing out about it. And if you're not up to supporting someone while they work through their anger right now (which is totally understandable!) then you don't have to. There are enough people and enough conversations on here that you can just go and talk to someone else instead. By and large, the angry threads around here are well signposted and fairly self-contained, so they're easy to avoid if you're looking for something more positive.

I don't want to put words in your mouth, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds to me like you would say "the problem" is that too many people expressing their anger is making these boards unpleasant to visit. In contrast, I would say "the problem" is that GW frequently makes choices or mistakes that genuinely upset a lot of people, and never takes responsibility for them, which fosters frustration and bitterness in the community. So it's entirely possible that we're talking about different problems... but the problem I see certainly isn't "completely inside the people who are really angry".

IMO, anger itself isn't the problem. It's only one symptom of the problem.

Like I get the content is lacking and the interface is sort of mediocre. But to the point of being angry and calling for a boycott?

It just looks a little silly and performative. You can just be "meh" about the service and move away.

  5. New generic Daemons to go with a new chaos prince, but the base is probably just going to be the DISCIPLES OF BE’LAKOR soup with Horror/Daemonette/Plaguebearer/Horror or to go as ally to your Std or BoC. A full minor faction of grey centrists daemons  is maybe not what we should expect.

  6. Chaos space marines got the Thousand Sons and Death Guard updates between Dark Vengeance and Shadowspear. Special flavors but still.

But the weird thing for std is not why no new sculpt, but why new sculpt only for the start collecting ? There is new sculpts, you can buy them. They are not mixed on the sprues making impossible to sell them apart either. If the problem was to move the old stock,it should have done by now.  So weird my best guess is they just like the old stuff.

Anyway they also got a bunch of stuff thanks to Warcry.

  7. Yeah, the wake the dead lieutenant had very similar pose and was sometime used to do this model.

Sorry if this is too far off topic, but are these different Space Marine models actually significant or could you paint this one in blue and run him as an ultramarine or in white and run him as a Whitescar? Other than some iconography and some associated lore this looks indistinguishable from any and all other space marines.

This is meant to be a functional question, as I have just started Stormcast with Dominion and I expect more and more similar releases in AOS over the years. I already cannot tell the difference between many of the combat oriented heroes in SCE and I expect this to only become more pronounced throughout the years. But I am just going to choose the models I like best for the role that I need most.

BT, but easy to convert, the only sculpted iconography is on the shoulder pads. Swap them and make it a lieutenant for any chapter.

  8. I never liked the unit description page. In 8th they felt like a huge filler. Boring, redundant and vague bloat of text, didn't lose much to condensed them to one sentence with the data sheet and only keep them for characters and what to be define.

Codex space marine is good because they actually do something with the room it gain, but many just reduce without doing anything instead.

  9. And that doesn't include the income from youtube, but that's way harder to give an estimate.

Alfabusa is employing people and patreon is taking is cut, but him being this is terrible I might have to take a part time job is clearly telling this is much more than a hobby or fan project.

At some point TTS should be regarded for what it is, a lucrative professional production creating jobs, and there is rule applying to an animation studio.

  10. I think they just shouldn't have released LRL when it was one of the army with the less avilable units. No matter how necessary was the second wave, a new battletome one year later isn't going to be well received.

Those who collect are crossed because they have to update the army they just completed, and those who don't are going to feel like they should have been next in line.

Can anybody remember back to the Necron\SM releases, did everything for them arrive in 1 weekend? Or do you think they'll split the Warclans\SCE book and the kits of a couple of weekends?

You can expect every SCE box to be released in about 6 months. Could be even longer, the heavy intercessors were available as there own box only last May, a good 7 months after the codex.

I was thinking about Warcry - its gone very quiet after the shadow stalkers release.. we were hoping they heralded new faction specific war cry boxes.. and the map had different icons on it.. then nothing. Surely due some news soon? would love a duardin kit...

They are already promoting Kill Team as the skirmish game right now. They are maybe avoiding splitting the sales for that market.

And with covid most specialist games are silent except Necromunda. Blood Bowl had a new starter in 2020, but since there wasn't even a new team announced.
Plus they probably released what they prepared for year 1, but didn't know if there will be enough interest for a year 2 so don't have enough material to roll out new content asap.

    Maybe in a few months
