What do you guys think about making Be'Lakor the general in a Despoiler list?
I know I would loose out on the 5 inch move command trait, and while that hurts there is not much concern about turn 1 ranged nukes in my gaming circle. Still a very tactically valuable option to have, of course.
But I feel like he could do more heavy lifting with the 5+ Aftersave and i actually do not hate to have undivided as the general's mark.
Or am I too concerned with him dying easily? I have not had the opportunity to play much, and the 14 wounds on a 4+ seem kinda good, abut also not really tanky if the opponent wants to really go at him.

@angry_peon Ravagers is my favorite! Cabalists are interesting, yet I roll too badly to get any magic or ritual off ever...
I only tried Cabalists once, but since I hate 3+ (because it feels kinda safe, but it IS NOT!) I actually made my ritual foot-sorcy the general and gave him the command trait for the 2+ ritual. 😅

But damn S2D are do expensive for what little they do in the board
Well, our core units are expensive, but so far I had a blast building lists and trying out Ravagers and Cabalists (looking forward to trying Despoilers as well). There are just so many different things to try out, with relatively similar models used, it's insane.
And I got to say, my lists have been doing pretty well (though I only played friendly matches at home, so far and we all just started AoS in May).
The Ravagers are awesome because the mere possibility of spawning marauders in the backline, keeps the opponent on edge (literally!) and the Cabalists (tried them out with that old Bloodthirster as Be'Lakor before I bought him) were really good at casting all those juicy spells.
Also, some of our synergy/MvP models are really cheap for what they bring to the table. Sorcerers on foot, awesome ability + awesome built in spell + mark bubble for 110 points is a steal.
The command ability of the Chaos Lord on foot (target unit fights in hero phase) is just beastly if used on the correct target (like 40 marauders or... Archaon!), and he is also only 110 points (iirc).

the main killers will propably be the marauders, buffed by the Warqueen fighting first and hopefully killing something for +1 attack and then the Chaos Lord's Command trait to let them fight twice.
Well, since I can't edit the original post anymore (guess I need a few more posts under my belt?), and I am not currenty tired and about to go to sleep anymore, I realized, that I can't to any of that, since the Warqueen can not be part of the battalion, sadly, and the marauders would have to fight in the hero-phase, before being buffed anyway.
So maybe the synergy is not quite there, and I think I would be better off going Nurgle for now.

Seems about right doesn’t it 😅
Well, it does not NOT seem right... 😅

I just got my Be'Lakor and I have an old Bloodthirster lying around, that I got permission to run as a Demon Prince, so I wanted to try a Despoiler list for the first time.
I will be playing in a friendly match, but as it is part of a little campaign, I wanted to make sure it does not totally suck:
Allegiance: Slaves to Darkness
- Damned Legion: Despoilers
Leaders
Slaves to Darkness Daemon Prince (210)
- General
- Sword
- Command Trait: Paragon of Ruin
- Artefact: Diabolic Mantle
- Mark of Chaos: Khorne
Be'Lakor (240)
- Spell: Binding Damnation
Chaos Lord (110)
- Reaperblade & Daemonbound Steel
- Mark of Chaos: Khorne
Darkoath Warqueen (90)
- Artefact: Trickster's Foil
Battleline
5 x Chaos Warriors (90)

5 x Chaos Warriors (90)

40 x Chaos Marauders (320)

Behemoths
Chaos Warshrine (170)

Battalions
Bloodmarked Warband (180)
Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
Extra Command Point (50)
Total: 1990 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 2
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 142My main question ist about how viable the command traits and the battalion are.I will propably use this list to attack a Stormcast list with some shooting (but not an optimized meta shooting list by any means). So I plan on using the Paragon of Ruin trait to block LoS at the start of the match, and the main killers will propably be the marauders, buffed by the Warqueen fighting first and hopefully killing something for +1 attack and then the Chaos Lord's Command trait to let them fight twice. -
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Guess my sacrificial cultists will have a few deserters here and there, oh well...

I was wondering if units have to take battleshock tests, when they suffered casualties from certain faction traits, that let you sacrifice units, like beastmen or STD Cabalists.
The whole thing seems to be clear cut: Any casualites suffered means the unit has to make a test, but as I am annoyingly good at overlooking specific wordings, I wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the input. I will definitely give it a shot.
For now I tried the him in a more traditional list with a Khorne DP as general, and it worked out just fine in terms of survivability. All those heals added up nicely. Hell, even my new sphiranx seemed way harder to kill than it should have.
