  1. Thanks for all the input.

Is there any benifits of having 2 extra heroes in this list, rules and optimisation wise. Like Radukar The Wolf, Torgillius the Chamberlain, Vampire Lord and a Necromancer?

I have the points and can make some mini swaps to make it happen.

Will for sure go with Vyrkos. Thematic and nice. The Cursed City is marching to War!

Also because I will go Vyrkos. I have come up with 2 nice conversions, in theory.

Take the normal Vampire Lord, remove the mace and give her a Nighthaunt Bladegheist Sword buy a spare Radukar the Wolf, remove the wolf cloak and attatch.

Also for Grave Guard. Take normal deathrattle skeletons, give them Nightgaunt Bladegaists swords, find som 3'rd party company that makes wolf cloaks, add another helm. Normal Grave Guard is not the coolest but im sure there are some really nice ones out there.

Love the concept of this! Very thematic too! The only thing I might suggest is taking a generic vampire lord/necromancer/eight king to make use of the command traits and artefacts as they can be quite beneficial. :)

    Thanks.

Yes this concept is what has brought me back to the hobby. Will be a blast to build/paint.

    About the generic Hero.

Which one do you think will work best in this type of army?

I can easily swap out Radukar at both 500 and 1000,p for a Generic Vampire (Love the model by the way)

Then at 1500 points and Upwards. I need to take Radukar to make the Kosargi Nightguard a viable option. However I donw know which is best inbetween the 3 heroes you suggested so any help will be appreciated

  3. Hi All.

So I have decided to yet again, come back to the hobby after a long Hiatus.

My choise of army fell unexpectivly on the Soulblight Gravelords (Been an Eldar/High elf player for life) but I guess we all grow up.

Anyway, Looking around, I have found so much fun conversions with the current range and this has got me thinking of a really interesting army, from an artist point of view.

My Idea is to take the Cursed City and make it bigger, badder and hopefully Better.

The core of the concept will be Radukan the Wolf and a Zombie centric theme. The centerpiece of the army will be a converted Zombie Mega Gargant, who accompany smaller Zombies and Medium Zombies in the Kosargi Night Guard, with some extra units sprinkled here and there as filler + what comes with the boxes.

I make this as an Escalating project and hopefully, I can join my local gaming group and get some games in. There is a big convention/tournament coming up May so hopefully I can attend this.

The Boxes I will buy will be the following:

    1x Deathrattle Skeleton Box

    1x Zombie Box

    1x Cursed City Box

1x Vengorian Lord (Will convert into a Terror Gheist)

    1x Mega Gargant Box

    Any extras I might need

    3x Vyrkos Blood Borne

So Yeah. This is pretty much my Idea, using alot of models that I will get from the Cursed City box and the army will have a nice theme to it.

How it workes on the battle field, I have no Idea.

Any tips, tricks or optimisation strategies will be greatly appreciated. Will have no problem swapping out some units.

  4. Now that the Hedonites of Slaanes model is out, I am thinking of making one of my dream armies, inspired by medieval arab and classic Carthidge.

Doing so I would need 2 Chaos War Mammoth but the Mumakil model would be so much better for this project.

The thing is I know that the Middle Earth miniature has a way different scale than the AOS ones.

So does anyone if the scales would "clash" If I where to get a Mumakil and put some  Blissbarb Archers and Kairic Acolytes on top?

  5. Thanks for the input guys. It makes listbuilding alot easyer.

I have tried to build an army from the tips above and have come up with this one. I mixed in some Demigryph knights since Scibor Miniatures have Dwarf Bear Riders which looks amazing and would be "count as". I also took a general on Griffon since I will try to convert one from the Magmaroth sculpt and there is a conversion out there who I can use as inspiration.

    Runelord: General 90.p

    Freeduild General on Griffon 320.p

    Celestial Hurricanum with battlemage 280.p

    10x Longbeards 110.p

    10x Longbeards 110.p

    30x Irondrakes 450.p

    3x Demigryph Knights 180.p

    3x Demigryph Knights 180.p

    2x Gyrocopters 140.p

    2x Gyrocopters 140.p

    2000.p total.

So what do you guys thing?

  6. Hi all.

So I have been trying to find some information about the Dispossesed, builds units heroes etc and if they are any good.

Does anyone here have experience with them either as individual units or as a whole army, maybe even with support from Demigryph Knights and Hurricanum?

    Thanks

They are okay as screens.  And they can be somewhat useful.

personally I don‘t feel like painting 30 Corsairs that die like flies ^^
Although you could convert them to be „Free Guild Guard“ (just give them a shield and maybe some human heads) Then they‘d be superb at screening and holding the line.

That is actually a very good idea. Give them the helmeted heads that is less used and comes on a sprue together with a round shield. Then I will have the "normal" Corsair heads to put on Phoenix Guards and use them as Black Guards. Also a fleetmaster which I can convert to a General on Foot. Things are coming together.

You could drop one hydra. Yet using 2 Sorceresses and an Umbral Spellportal works best.

I would not recommend a Sorceress on a black dragon.

you could still get 3 start collecting boxes and sell one hydra on eBay =} (single scourgerunners are just too expensive)

in that case you could drop one hydra and 10 Dreadspears

if you want more infos about Anvilgard I can recommend AoSCoach (keep in mind though, that the channel is Tournament play focused, yet it yields a lot of information)

Thanks. If I get 3 Start Collecting Boxes , 2 Sorceresses and a Dragon, are the Corsairs anything to have or should I avoid them like the plague?

So some advice on your list:

Get 2 sorceress's.  Make 1 your general and the other your adjutant.  This lets you take one of those blocks of dreadspears and have them be honored retinue, gives you fuel to sacrifice for your +2 to cast, and gives you a 50% chance for an extra command point each turn.  Take them in exchange for the other 20 block of dreadspears.  They also have a command ability that lets your darkshards run and shoot, giving you a larger threat presence on the board.

Personally, I wouldn't run the hydra's, except occasionally in a for-fun matchup.  They are just too inefficient for what they do.  Instead, I would look to run something like black guard, or fill out more numbers for your darkshards, or (if you go hallowheart) some more wizards/endless spells.  However, if you are really tied to them, then go for it.

Thanks. Well I thought about the hydras due to the Start collecting box since I'm thinking about getting 3. But maybe it is jusst a better investment to get the Scourgerunners alone since the Hydras are not something Im super excited about.

Does anyone know if a Sorceress on a Dragon is a good idea since I want a dragon, What rides on it is not that important.

  10. Hi all.

So I have decided to com eback to the hobby again after a long abcence and have created an army with the units I would like to buy and convert. There are still room to tweek to change etc. It is just that I want an outline on what to buy.

    Dreadlord on Dragon 300.p

    Hydra 170.p

    Hydra 170.p

    Hydra 170.p

    20x Darkshards 200.p

    20x Darkshards 200.p

    20x Dreadspears 180.p

    20x Dreadspears 180.p

    3x Scourge Runner Chariots 150.p

    3x Scourge Runner Chariots 150.p

    10x Shadow Warriors 110.p

    Total: 1980.p

I dont know which city to use or if the list is any good so if you have some ideas please feel free to share them.

I have also read that Dark Fleet Corsairs are really bad which is a shame since its included in the Start Collecting Box along with the Chariot and the Hydra, however that might have been last edition. Is there a way that they can be good or fit the type of army I have or am I better off selling them and buy other units?
