Thats not how it works in Age of Sigmar. If you read the text for dual handaxes it says you can reroll hit rolls with a pair of handaxes.

Hello guys, i light start a fslayer army, and i was thinking, why id run 2 x 20 hearthguard, dont run also 2 battlesmith?
For me it's because i am lacking points and need more bodies on the field. I would also rather have a second runesmiter for tunelling or something that can handle objectives better.

try this
Why would you run it as Greyfyrd? Hermdar or Vostarg is alot better for this kind of list.

Gents , Hearthguard or Vulkite are both on 32 mm bases. Does anyone see it as problem interchanging them ? Same base size , same model. Only difference is the weapon load out. But BIG difference in $$$ I don’t see it as a huge deal , what does everyone think. For me personally I’m usually fine with proxies as long as they’re reasonable and clearly marked. Same size , model type etc.
That's something you have to ask your opponent about. Doesn't really matter what we say. For me it's fine for a few games to test them out.,
For tournament use you need the right model

Thanks mate!
So when I have 30, I should maybe go for 20 with picks n' shield for objective/tanking and 10 with double axes for screen/throw at something?
How about heartguard berzerkers. I see a lot of guys using broadaxes, are they really better than the potential 2 MW of the poleaxes?
Cheers
I run Shields and picks for all my Vulkites.
I prefer Poleaxes for bigger units of HGB and Broadaxes for smaller units. I have a big unit of Poleaxe armed HGB and am working towards a second 10man unit with broadaxes.

It's fairly easy for hearthguard berzerkers to sit on 3+/4++ with a - 1 to wound aura. So they are pretty hard to shoot. Against a, shooty liste i would try to use my fyrewall to protect most of my heroes. The rest i would try to keep near auric hearthguard which can protect heroes and take the wound on 4+.
It's easier to shoot the Heroes, but not that easy. We have pretty good spell protection near our banner with Nulsidian Icon, ignoring spells on 4+.
As the fyreslayer player i would prefer if you shot my hearthguard.
