Furthermore, I think his Reality splitting axe is actually good. What I like is  the insta kill ability. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s a risk. Our 140 point model can possibly trade himself for more expensive models. Granted, it may not work, but your opponent might just get spooked away. In some games, I’ve seen my opponent be unwilling to commit his big guys (Verminlord warbringers, Bloodthirsters, etc.) because the mighty Lord was closeby. Giving the mighty lord a thermalrider Cloak, or even Unrivaled Battle lust increases his threat, so that invisible zoning power strikes me as something we could use. Is it competitive? Hardly. But is it usable? Possibly. Besides, I’ve managed to reality split Morathi, and that’s a very useful tool to have in our arsenal.

They should have given the Juggerlord the Reality Splitting Axe. I'd be happy with him at 160 then. I'll probably still buy the model because it's just so good.

I'm almost certain that Skullcrusher kit has parts for two command sets, given that it's an old 3 model set but doubled. Did they include only one copy of the sprue with the banner? Wasn't that the sprue that contained all the torsos too?

But yeah, generally, if the kit doesn't contain all the options you need, there's probably some conversion work to be done (with some ridiculous examples as 40k chaos havocs weapon options basically forcing you to...)

Ok, looking at the pics again, you appear to be right on this particular kit. Thanks for the clarification.

They only picture 3 sprues, which must be doubled. I haven't bought this kit yet.

Went to a local 2 dayer, 3-2 with Anvilstrike. Very depressing after a good showing at Adepticon.

    ...

but it can be frustrating to see the build you've worked hard on suddenly lose viability.

Going 3-2 is losing viability? Sounds like a respectable showing. You can't expect the other tournament-level players to just roll over.

  4. Something I've noticed with some kits is that they don't include enough parts to have a standard and musician if you split the unit in two. Take Mighty Skullcrushers for example. Units are in multiples of 3, but the kit has six models and only one banner and one horn. It's legal to run two units of three while also having a banner and horn in each. So what, someone has to buy $200 worth of kits to get 3+3 properly outfitted?

The juggerord is a crappy Bloodtithe point. Only good because he unlocks army compositions. I missed my aspiring deathbringer.

It's a shame too because the model is fantastic. Would you feel better about using him if he were 140 points and not 160?

I got mine from the US store. I forgot to mention that! Also, if they have it and it’s a bum set... they _should_ replace it — albeit at their expense. I’d hate to do that to my store, so I would recommend ordering it through your store (so they get some commission and stay open) — and if anything goes wrong for any reason, they will help you and make things right. Sure they will ask why you’d order it online through them — just explain the situation and they (should) understand. Our folks did.

What was wrong with yours? Bad casting?

  7. Question for my Khorne brothers ... did you find the mortal models to be tedious to paint? I've got a few mortal sets I'm getting ready to start working on, and there seem to be a lot of little details. I love the models but it's starting to look like a ton of work. Wondering if I should maybe grab some Flesh Hounds...

If I could get and extra 2 are there any must haves or recommendations based on what's here?

Seems like you could maybe do better with 280 points than Castigators and Hailstorm Battery. Would probably be better to just surround the Ordinator with a couple more ballistae (4 total). You could do that and still have 80 points left over, maybe swap Incantor for Celestant on Dracoth or Astreia Solbright or Azyros + Veritant .... just some thoughts, lots of potential options.

  9. If he's a good sport, ask for a handicap. Like some bonus army points or extra command points. He still gets to play his competitive list, you get to play your list, and it ups the challenge factor for him.

I used to play Madden a lot with a guy who was much better than me. We had a rule that I got to pick the teams. He was ok with it because he liked playing the game but also didn't have much fun blowing me out.

  10. Are you allowed 4 heroes or 6? Require 2 or 3 battlines?

I'd def exclude Skull Cannon and Sorcerer, and def include Bloodsecrator, Slaughterpriest, Blood Warriors, Skullreapers and Khorgorath. Battalions seem really expensive at less than 2000 points, but it's up to you, really. You have options. I'm not a huge fan of the Slaves stuff in this army... maybe just make that a separate army, as you seem to have enough stuff to make both.

This is 1500, only uses 4 heroes, all BoK, no battalion. Looks like a fun list. I'd personally drop the 20 Bloodreavers in favor of Wrathmongers for that 140 points, but you don't have Wrathmongers.

    Leaders
    Mighty Lord of Khorne (140)
    Bloodsecrator (140)
    Slaughterpriest (100)
    Bloodstoker (80)

    Battleline
    20 x Bloodreavers (140)
    10 x Blood Warriors (200)
    10 x Blood Warriors (200)

    Units
    3 x Mighty Skullcrushers (180)
    1 x Khorgoraths (100)
    5 x Skullreapers (180)

    Endless Spells
    Hexgorger Skulls (40)

    Total: 1500 / 1500
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 120

PS. There is a Blades of Khorne discussion thread under the Chaos sub-forum.

So thought to start with Gloomspite Gitz at 1000p, just wondering what you guys think about my list?

    Heros:300p

Loonboss on Giant Cave Squig:100p(General; though’n’ leathery)

Loonboss with Giant Cave Squig:110p(spiteful Prodder)

    Cave Shaman:90(Squig lure)

    Battleline:400p

    40Stabbas:260p

    12Squigherd:140p

    others:340p

    10Boingrotz Bounderz:200p

    5fanatics:140p

its nothing special and I’m not really interested in winning tournaments with this list, but was wondering if it could be a good approach for having a fun time.

My son is building a nearly identical army. He also wants some trolls. He'll likely end up with more than 1000 points, but that just gives more options and will keep it fresh from game to game.

Does anyone maybe have major victories to report? I am actually really not motivated in this army anymore, and thinking about withdrawing from it.

Just comes from the fact, that the army is just not good designed. I know, a lot of people will defend it and tell me to get good. But that doesn't really help. Getting clubbed and battered for years now and the new book made it slightly better, but still I am not able to win a single game.

Trying out all those lists, but it's just not working.

Maybe someone, who can bring a fresh wind into this topic, to get motivated again?

If you just care about winning them you'll probably have to keep switching armies as the meta changes. Or just build the models you like and play casually.

I will be surprised if Khorne mortals don't see some point reductions.

    What's your preferred list?

Also, I'm actually not sure that many point reductions will come in. We had a large point reduction in 2.0, so I don't think we'll get more points off.

    Here's what I've been thinking...

The Frostlord on Stonehorn is a gimme. I feel like that unit is the  reason to run BCR. I also want to run two behemoths because, well, it's Beastclaw Raiders.  Assuming a pure BCR list, I prefer Yhetees as battleline, which means I need a Thundertusk. No problem, Thundertusk makes sense for a Huskard, right?

    • Frostlord on Stonehorn (420)
    • Huskard on Thundertusk (360) - general
    • 3x Icefall Yhetees(120)
    • 3x Icefall Yhetees(120)

Total is 1020 ... close but no dice. The annoying thing about this is that the Frostlord is the same (420) on either mount, but the Huskard is 20 points more on the mammoth. If they made them both 340, this list works... this just feels like a basic BCR list that should work at 1000. GW, please fix. :)

Using the hunter and dogs works with the list (exactly 1000), but I don't like these models as much as the Yhetees:

    • Frostlord on Stonehorn (420)
    • Huskard on Thundertusk (360)
    • Icebrow Hunter (140) - general
    • 2x Frost Sabres (40)
    • 2x Frost Sabres (40)

I'm not a fan of mixing in a lot of allies, but I think this would be a legal way to get two Frostlords on  Stonehorns for 1000:

    • Frostlord on Stonehorn (420) - general
    • Frostlord on Stonehorn (420)
    • 10x Greenskinz Orruks (80)
    • 10x Greenskinz Orruks (80)

One last list I cobbled together with just one behemoth and Mournfangs battleline plus some spell support:

    • Frostlord on Stonehorn (420) - general
    • Fungoid Cave Shaman (90)
    • 2x Mournfang Pack (160)
    • 2x Mournfang Pack (160)
    • 4x Frost Saberes (80)
    • Mork's Mighty Mushroom (80)

The Mournfangs are ok but not as cool as the bigger mounts. The ogors look a little silly on the smaller animals. Also, it would be nice to see this faction get their own low cost shaman and a few spells...

    Sure, but why?

Elegance and the expectations that people can understand a language are reasonable and laudable.

I think he has a point. These details aren't obvious to new players. Adding a few words to the description could only help.

Do you think if it is possible to build a competitive anvilstrike list at 1k pts?

I was thinking the same thing  and came up with this list (990 points):

    • Lord-Veritant - general (120)
    • 5x Liberators (100)
    • 5x Liberators (100)
    • 5x Evocators (200)
    • 9x Vanguard-Raptors w/Hurricane Crossbows (420)
    • 3x Aetherwings (50)

    Some comments:

    1. Veritant seems like an obvious choice for general since he's a Priest so can Translocate and also has an Unbind ability.
    2. 2x5 Liberators is cheap battleline requirement
    3. Longstrike Crossbows are too expensive for this list IMHO. Seems better to get 9x Hurricane and still have room for 5x Evocators.
    4. Aetherwings work well with Raptors for screening and gives somewhere to dump the extra 50 points.

I've been struggling to put together a 1000 point SCE list that I like because the units are so expensive, but I kind of like this one. No idea how effective it would be, but it should be fun to play.

PS. I'm going to wait and see what changes in new GHB before getting into SCE.
